Hope you have all had a great day! At least the rain held off until this evening! I went deer watching tonight and we saw 6 deer and they were beautiful! I just love to watch them run!
Pretty heavy passage tonight. Lisa summed it up pretty well with her thoughts: "We cannot judge others. This passage clearly states that we sin when we judge others. God wants us to desire to do good things - not sit in judgement of others."
I really like verses 7, 10 and 11. My memory verse for this passage is verse 11: "God does not show favoritism!"

Wednesday, May 4th - Psalm 130
Good Evening GEMS,
My Small Group met this evening and we had a great time! It was a beautiful evening and great fellowship! I hope each of you had a great day too!
We have another great passage of scripture this evening. Psalm 130
We cry to the Lord and we find forgiveness! We wait on the Lord and in His Word we put our Hope! As was suggested by Lisa, verse 7 would read like this: "Chosen people, put your hope in the Lord, for with the Lord is unfailing love and with him is full redemption."
Wow! Full redemption and forgiveness of all my sins!

Tuesday, May 3rd - Psalm 40
Good Evening!
I hope y'all have had a great day! I especially hope that Phyllis Summers had a great birthday! Happy Birthday Phyllis!!!
Our passage of Scripture tonight is long, but has lots of good stuff. I love the Psalms! There is a lot to unpack in this chapter and I am not going to take time to do that as I would be writing for hours. I have chosen a few select verses or partial verses that I think speak to us.
Let's get started!
Psalm 40
vs. 1 - waiting patiently is not easy, but it always pays off!
vs. 2 - God cares for each one of His own! He lifts us from the mud and puts us on solid ground! He loves to take care of us, if we but let Him!
vs. 3 - He gives me a new song every morning! I will praise Him for all long as I have breath.
vs. 4 and 5 - our blessings are too many to count. He takes care of us!
vs. 8 - I desire to do Your Will! My desire is to get closer to Him each and every day and to serve Him with an undying love and enthusiasm!
vs 9 and 10 - Share your faith with everyone - Let them see Christ in you - you may be the only Jesus that they might see!
vs. 16 is my memory verse from this passage: " But may all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; may those who love Your salvation always say, 'The Lord be exalted!'" Psalm 40:16
Thank you for Your Words of encouragement Father God! May we be dangerous witnesses for You! May we share our faith with others! May we be patient and wait on You!

Monday, May 2nd - Colossians 3:12-17
Good Evening!
What a good day! I actually took some time for me today and prayed and thought and just enjoyed the day!
Our scripture passage today is one of my favorites. I have taught several lessons from this passage, given several devotionals and sermons from it as well. There is so much packed into these six verses. Let's dive in!!
Vs. 12 - God's chosen...holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion; kindness; humility, gentleness and patience. Aren't these similar to the Fruit of the Spirit we find in Galatians 5:22 - "But the Fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control." We are God's Chosen - those for whom HE sent His Son to die and then to conquer death in His resurrection! We are holy and dearly loved because of Christ! Vs. 13 - Forgive I think this pretty much sums up the verse! Vs. 14 - LOVE - the bonding agent, brings them all together in perfect unity! Vs. 15 - ...let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts.....members of ONE body....called to peace. Vs. 16 - we are to let the Word dwell in us and encourage one another, fellowship with one another, teach each other, and do it all with gratitude in our hearts to God! Vs. 17 - my memory verse of this passage: "Whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him."
Look at verse 17 again - do you think we can incorporate our teaching from a couple weeks ago - PAUSE and PRAY! Whatever we do - we need to do it in the name of the Lord Jesus! If I am putting His Name on it, I want it to be worthy and right. I am going to pause and pray!
There is so much to learn in these six verses, but it all comes down to verse 12 and verse 17 - We are God's chosen, holy and loved - Whatever we do...do it in the name of the Lord Jesus!
Father God: Hear my prayer tonight as I lift each of my sisters in Christ up before You - help us to be like You, to do everything for Your Glory! May we clothe ourselves with the Fruit of the Spirit and share it with others. May we encourage and not quarrel; may we fellowship together and not try and do it on our own, and may we remember to always let You lead! I love you Lord!

Sunday, May 1st - Galatians 6:7-10
Hey GEMS!
How was your Sunday? Mine was great and we enjoyed a beautiful day together as family. The church service was awesome and even though the weather turned a little chilly and wet, it was a great and blessed day! Today's passage was pretty timely!
As I read today's passage in Galatians, I was reminded of our I Heart MC campaign! There were and are some awesome stories and testimonies of doing good for those in our community. Showing and sharing the love of Christ with others! That is what we are called to do!
I love to give to others and have a hard time receiving, but have been on that end as well. Some of you may remember that first Wednesday night after Mother's day several years ago when GEMS had just started. I shared the following with tears flowing!
I went to the Single Mom's Morning Out at E-Free and was blown away! I walked in and the foyer or hall way was lined with all the volunteers. As I walked down through this line, they all clapped and yelled encouraging words and phrases. I lost it! I was being appreciated for being a single Mom! I was pampered physically (massage, foot washing/lotion, hand care, etc.) and spiritually, as I went to the prayer room and was prayed with and for, and finally all needs were met when I received breakfast and lunch! :o) I shared with my GEMS that evening that I was always one that gave - teaching, singing, caring for kids, choir, vocal teams, helps ministries, etc. This is one of the first times in my life that I was able to receive!! I cannot even express what I felt and how my heart overflowed with gratitude and love!
I have been to the Single Mom's Morning Out ever since and I usually meet up with my good friend and sister - Phyllis Summers and we get pampered and then sit and drink coffee and fellowship with each other and others around us! It is a great time! Don't forget to sign up for this year - May 14th!
My memory verse of this passage: Galatians 6:10 - "...as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers."

Saturday, April 30th - Matthew 24:27, 44....
Good Evening!
I am sorry I am a little later tonight, but I had a wonderful evening with a friend and family. I even grilled out in all this wind! Whew! I thought I was going to take off a couple times and I am not even a pilot! I kept clicking my heels together and looking for Toto, but.....
Let me get started!
Matthew 24:27, 44 - Be ready!! We don't know when He will come, but we do know that HE WILL come! Nobody knows the hour, the day, the year - anything! Only God the Father!!
Luke 18:8 and 21:7 - I prayer that we remain faithful to our Lord and Savior! May we be found faithful!!!
1 Corinthians 1:7 - We do not lack ANYTHING and we eagerly await HIS return!
1 Thessalonians 2:19 and 3:13 - Indeed, you are our glory and joy!
2 Peter 3:4 - They have looked for the 2nd coming for years, and years! Maranatha!! Lord Jesus come quickly! We need You!
I can't wait for Jesus' return! It is so hard to imagine what Heaven will be like! My son wonders if there will be food? Will there be sports? I have a hard time being patient when I speak of HIS return!

Friday, April 29th - Luke 8:1-15
Good Evening!
Today we read the Parable of the Sower! What a great story. Did you notice in the first 3 verses that there were women helping to support Jesus and the twelve? Mary Magdalene - Joanna - Suzanna and many others! I look forward to the day when I can sit in His presence and praise Him!
Jesus told the parable of the different kinds of soil:
1. the first was a path where the seed could not enter the ground and was trampled and eaten by birds; 2. the second was on rocky soil where the seed grew, but withered quickly because it had no root system to get moisture; 3. the third soil was full of thorns and they grew along with the seed and choked it out; 4. and the fourth was good soil and it grew and yielded a crop that was a 100 times what had been sown.
The seed that was sown is the Word of God! The first ones hear, but then the devil (enemy) comes and takes it away and they do not believe. The second ones hear and receive it with joy and believe, but in a time of testing they fall away because they have no roots, foundation. The third is those that hear, but as they go along they are choked by life's worries, riches and pleasures and do not mature. The last one, the good soil stands for those that believe and hear the Word, retain it and share it! They persevere and produce a crop!
Wow! As I read this passage again, I can almost see myself in a couple of the soils - maybe the thorns, some rocky ground, but finally in the good soil! I want to share my love for Jesus Christ with everyone I meet. I don't want to miss any opportunity that is presented to me!
My memory verse from this passage is verse 8b: ..."He who has ears to hear, let him hear." Pause and pray!! Listen to that still small voice! We have so much more at our fingertips today with our Bibles in written form - Bibles on CD - television shows where we hear the Word - Christian radio - iPods - computers, etc. Lord, may I listen and may I hear!
