Thursday, January 31st - Deuteronomy 32:35

Good Evening!

Burrrrrrr.......  It is definitely winter again!  8
degrees outside and it feels like -13 degrees!!  Ugh!!  It is going to be a cold, cold couple of days, but then it promises to get a little warmer and back to more normal temps.  Yeah!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Deuteronomy 32:35 ~ Instead of worrying about how to "get" someone who got you...Let God take care of it.  What should you do?  #Romans12:17-21

This is a pretty powerful verse with a direct action that God will take for us!  "It is mine to avenge..."  Let God take care of us!  As Lisa said Tuesday evening, we need to let go and let God work justice for us.  It is not easy though, but doable!
Remember Proverbs 20:22 - "Do not say, "I'll pay you back (repay, finish, fulfill, to complete, to restore, to bring back to a previous, preferable state) for this wrong!" (evil)  Wait (actively choose to wait) for the Lord, and he will avenge (save, deliver, help) you.
Let go and let God!!!

Did you read Romans 12:17-21?  Don't repay evil for evil!  Do what is right!  Live at peace!  Do not take revenge!  Feed your enemy and give him drink!  They will not understand as you overcome evil with good!
Continue to meditate on these verse and let God speak to you and show you His way and who you might need to approach or pray about and for!

Reread Deut. 32:35  and notice the issue with time...  God's timing is perfect and yet it is not our time!  When you get a chance, read the passage in Ecclesiastes 3:1-14.  Notice the references to time!

There is a lot to think about and meditate upon here, but the underlying theme is:  Let go and Let God!!

Have a great evening!
Love y'all!

Wednesday, January 30, 2013 - Proverbs 3:31-33 & 10:6-7

Good Evening!

It has been a long day!  It has been a tough day too, but God is good!  I hope you have had a good day!  The weather sure has changed and it is only to get colder tomorrow!  Burr!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Proverbs 3:31-32 ~ Wouldn't it be cool to be able to think like God?  Turns out, we can.  God speaks to those who listen and obey His ways.

God tells us what He likes and doesn't like in His Word.  He detests sin and the wicked.  Those that do not walk in His path or His ways.  He blesses the righteous and takes the upright or righteous into His confidence.
We know what we have to do and we also know that He is going to give us the strength to accomplish His ways!  We live by GRACE!  He takes all the broken pieces and makes them whole again!

Verses 6 and 7 of chapter 10 echo the same message as chapter 3.  Blessings come to the righteous and violence to the wicked.  As Lisa wrote and we read in His Word, God speaks to those who listen and obey His ways.

Walk the narrow path together with Him!  He provides everything we need.  Put your trust in Him!

Hope your day and evening were good! Talk to you tomorrow!
Blessings!

Sunday, January 27th - James 4:7-10

Good Morning!

"Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy. How awesome in the Lord Most High, the great King over all the earth!  Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises. For God is the King of all the earth; sing to him a psalm of praise."  Psalm 47:1,2,6,7

It's Sunday - the Lord's Day!  Arise and sing His praises!  Make a joyful noise unto the Lord!  Worship Him!  Give thanks for all that He has done!  Let His light shine through you!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: James 4:7-10 ~ Quit trying to stop sinning by telling yourself, "I'm not going to do that anymore." All you focus on is what you can't do.  Instead, fill your mind with what you get to do:  Live mess-free from sin, have more mental and emotional space for the good things in life

"Submit yourselves, then to God.  Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.  Come near to God and he will come near to you."  Proverbs 4:7-8a
Did you notice that it isn't written to "Resist the devil" first?  To me that would mean that we try and do it on our own.  It is clearly written to "Submit yourselves to God" which means put yourself in God's Hands and let Him provide the strength and determination to resist temptation.  "Come near to God and He will come near to you".  He wants to share every moment of your life with you and He wants to be near you, helping with each and every part of your day/night.  He desires to walk each step with you!

I read a tweet yesterday from a very dear friend and she said:  "It's never been about the smallness of your performance.  It's always been about the bigness of His grace."  God's grace!
Look at verse 10:  "Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up."  Wow!

We cannot do it on our own, we need Him!  Spend more time with Him this week!  Memorize His word and lean on Him.  Submit - Come near - Humble yourself before Him!

Have a great day and week!  I hope to see some of you at church this morning!

Saturday, January 26th - Proverbs 26:2 and 28:5

Good Afternoon!

Have you ever had one of those days when you just wanted to lay around and do nothing?  That has been my day thus far, even though I have done laundry and fixed breakfast for the kids and caught up on some "stuff".  The kids actually slept in this morning until almost 9:30!  Late night last night!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Proverbs 26:2, 28:5 ~ Ever have someone talk smack about you and it wasn't true?  Did you go off defending yourself?  Usually makes it worse  #LetGodDefend

It is really hard sometimes (most all the time) when you hear someone saying something about you that isn't true, or if you are blamed for something that you didn't do.  What do you do in those kinds of situations?
My first reaction is to defend myself and argue with the person that I didn't do it or I am not to blame!  However, that is not the right action or attitude!  It is better to not say anything and the truth will come out and be made known.

As verse 2 of chapter 26 notes:  "an undeserved curse does not come to rest".  In other words, it will not be remembered or even known by many.  God is our defender and He has our best interest in mind!  He cares and He protects.  We just have to get out of the way and let Him do His thing!  He has our back!  He walks with us every step of the way and everyday!

As Lisa wrote:  #LetGodDefend!

Have a great day everyone!

Thursday, January 24th - Proverbs 17:20

Good Evening!

Sorry I am later today, but it has been one very busy day.  I have one at home with strep throat and another one that is feeling left out!  Thank you to a great friend and sister that came and stayed with the kids tonight for a little while so I could attend an appreciation meeting.  It was just what I needed - to be with friends and good Christian leaders and be encouraged.  It was a great evening.

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Proverbs 17:20 ~ The most hateful weapon in the world isn't a gun; it's the mouth of a person who isn't letting God speak thru him/her #knockitoff

Remember how we have talked before that as you are in your heart - that will come from your mouth.  Your words and actions reflect your heart.  Remember how in James it says the tongue is like a fire?  We can really hurt, wound and even kill with our mouths/tongues.  Is that what we want to do?

When we let God speak through us, others see Him and not us!  They see what He is like and how He cares for every little detail of our lives!  Don't you want others to see Jesus in you?  I do!!  I strive and pray each day that others will see Jesus and not me!  It is not easy, but He has not asked us to walk alone!!!

Will you take the challenge and try to praise Him in every circumstance; pray for your friends at work, pray for your friends outside of work, pray for your church family; pray that others see Jesus and not you and pray that your every word, action and thought reflects Him.

I will talk at you tomorrow!
Love y'all!

Wednesday, January 23rd - 1 Corinthians 10:13

Good Morning!

I think we are supposed to have a heat wave today and get up to around 30 degrees!  Yeah!  Spring is on its way!  (smile)  I don't know about you, but I am just not a fan of this cold weather!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: 1 Corinthians 10:13 ~ Everyone gets tempted to sin.  We all sin at times.  When temptation comes, pray then look for God's "escape route" and take it!

I completely agree with Lisa's tweet today.  All of us sin and usually on a daily basis.  The temptations are everywhere!  However, God is faithful and provides a way out or as Lisa wrote - an escape route!

It is much easier to identify the temptation and the escape route if we are walking daily with Jesus and have a personal relationship with Him.  Spending time in the Word and studying on a daily basis is very helpful.  How are you doing with daily walk?  Reading, memorizing and knowing His Word makes our daily walk easier.

I am praying for y'all!  Have a great day and stay warm!

Thursday, January 17th - Matthew 7:7-8

Good Evening GEMS!

Hope you have had a good day!  It is a little chilly outside, but suppose to warm up tomorrow - in the 40's I hear!  Yeah!  One more day and we start the weekend - a long weekend as the kids don't have school Monday or Tuesday!!  I don't ever remember getting all these days off school.  The kids are looking forward to being home though!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Matthew 7:7-8 ~ Seeking God isn't a "one and done".  If you have asked God to guide you, He may want you to keep asking before He answers.  Every prayer shapes you

I love these verses.  We know that God listens and HE provides for our every need.  We are truly blessed!  When was the last time you asked - you sought - and/or you knocked?  We can come to God anytime and He listens and He answers.  It may not always be the answer we desire, but an answer come.  Sometimes it may be a day or so, of even months, but He answers!  Just as He answers our prayers as we ask and we find something special as we seek ad most of all the door opens as we knock.  Let's grab on to each other and walk this life together as we ask - seek - knock!

Talk to you tomorrow!
Have a great evening!

Wednesday, January 16th - Proverbs 10:8 and 12:13-14

Good Evening!

I am back!  Happy New Year!  I am sorry I was gone for awhile, but needed to take some time away with family over the holidays, and time for me - a time of self-examination, setting priorities, and spending time with my God and Savior!  I missed y'all and "talking" to you daily, but was blessed beyond measure!
Hope y'all had great Holidays and have started the New Year - 2013 with renewed focus and passion to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and to be a fearless follower of Christ whose ridiculous love and dangerous witness are irresistible.
I love y'all and I am honored and privileged to serve with you this year and until our Savior returns to take us HOME!

Now, let's study together!  Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Proverbs 12:13-14 ~ The words you let out of your mouth are the sound of what's in your heart.  Pray for a clean heart (Psalm 51:10) ~ Speak clean words

What a great night we had at GEMS last night!  It was awesome to see everyone again and to fellowship with each other and to hear God's truth as Lisa shared.  Wow!  Is your life a mess right now?  Have you just come through a mess?  Have you taken responsibility?
Over the next two weeks we are going to address some of these things and give you encouragement and scriptures to help you along your daily walk with Him!

This is where it starts many times - with words!  We have talked before about the tongue and how it can get us into trouble.  As we spend more time in the Word, we begin to reflect His ways and His truth in our conversation, in our actions, and in our walk!  We speak clean words!
Spending time in the Word of God and having a personal relationship with Him is KEY!  Accepting responsibility is hard, but rewarding at the same time.  Good comes to those that speak truth and clean words!

Let's walk this road together and hold each other accountable!  Jesus asks us to share each other's burdens, but also the joys and celebrations.  We are here for you as the GEMS Leadership, but most of all as your sisters in Christ!  Email us, call us or contact us and we will pray for you and with you.

I love y'all!
