Thursday, December 20th - 1 Peter 2:9-12

Good evening!

What an awesome night I have had!  I have to admit there were some little bumps along the way, but I have been blessed beyond what I deserve.  Glory up!!  As I went to pick my son up from school it started actually snowing.  It was very windy and it got bad pretty fast.  I had made plans with another GEMS to decorate my house tonight and so called and told her I would pick her up and we would still continue as planned.  What a blessing and to see how God had prepared this time for me and the kids and my friend.
It was a great evening filled with laughter, Christmas music, lots of stories of Christmas' past, getting to know each other a little better, and topping it all off with pizza!  My house looks great and I am ready to host my family for the holidays!  The kids and I took our friend home and marveled in God's beautiful art work with the snow on the trees and bushes and houses.  Beautiful!  It was still windy and cold, but we were all warm and snuggled up with God's love and enjoying each other and the first snow and holiday season in our new home.  Thank you dear friend for the blessings this evening!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: 1 Peter 2:9-12 ~ As God's chosen people, we live in the light of His mercy.  Live in such a way that other people want what you've got:  GOD

Do you see in verse nine who we are?  A chosen people (God chose us), a royal priesthood (royalty), a holy nation (holy), and a people belonging to God (belong).  Wow!  It doesn't get any better than that!  We were called out of darkness (our sinful life before Jesus) into His wonderful light (a new creation in Christ)!
We are the people of God!  We have received mercy!  God is good all the time and all the time God is good!

Did you realize that in verse 11 we are called aliens and strangers?  Do you know why?  Because we are!  Our citizenship is out of this world and in the Kingdom of God!  We are HIS people!  We are called by HIS name!  We were chosen to represent the Kingdom of God here on earth.  What a high calling!  Are you ready?  Are you letting your light shine?  Are you living each day in such a way that others look at you and wonder what is different?  Do they want what you have?  Share your story about giving your life to the one and only God that sent His Son as a Baby to grow and die on the Cross and to rise again to save us from our sins and give us the hope and promise of eternal life with Him.  Let His light shine through you today!

Shine bright!  Remember the chorus we sang/sing - "This little light of mine - I'm gonna let it shine..."  People are watching!

Love and prayers!

Wednesday, December 19th - James 1:16-18

Good Evening!

What a great time we had last night at GEMS!  The fellowship was great, the meal was delicious, the teaching was right on, the candle-light service was awesome, and topping it off with a baptism was over the top exciting!!!  As Lisa say, "Glory up!!"

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: James 1:16-18 ~ God = Father of Light. He chose to make light and He chooses to love you and give you life.  #perfectgift

Look at verse 17 and see how the words describe the very essence of God - good, perfect, giving, Father, and unchanging!  He is the Father of Light and He is unchanging!  He is the same  yesterday, today and forever!  He chose to create this world and HE chose to create us - love us and give us life!  How awesome is that?

At this time of year, Christmas, we celebrate the Father's ultimate love in the birth of His Son - Jesus - the perfect gift!  God gave His Son that He might give His life for us and we would have the hope and promise of eternal life!  God is the Father of Light and Jesus is the Light of the World!  Through Him there is no darkness!

Remember as you look at the manger holding the baby Jesus, that God chose to love you and give His Son to die so that you and I might have life!  Jesus - the Light of the World - the Perfect gift!

May His light shine through you!  Merry Christmas!

Blessings!

Wednesday, December 12th - Philippians 3:12-21

Good Morning!

It's a bit chilly outside, but no wind!  I am hoping everyone feels good today and can go to school.  It's tough not feeling well.  Hey a little trivia for y'all this morning:  the date today is 12/12/12 and it will be the last one until 01/01/01 or January 1, 2101.

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Philippians 3:12-21 ~ When you mess up, confess, repent ~ Press on...don't give in...don't give up.  Forget your past - look toward a hopeful Godly future.

How many of you are athletes?  It doesn't matter which sport, but knowing that you can relate to giving everything you have to attain or win the prize.  That is the Christian life - we give everything that we are to God and walk daily in His way to attain the prize - ETERNAL LIFE with HIM!  Read verse 14:  "I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."

When I played basketball I always gave 110% because I loved the game.  Sure there were times when it hurt and I was discouraged and I would fall, but I always got back up, changed my attitude and pressed on to my goal - knowing I had done my very best and that I gave 110%.  It is the same with the Christian life, in that we give it our all - we fall, but we confess and repent and get back up and press on.  God has provided His Spirit to walk with us every step of the way and to help us in those tough times so that we can press on toward the goal and attain the prize in heaven!

Look at verses 20 and 21:  "But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body."  How awesome is that?  We will have new bodies that are like that of Jesus - perfect!

Remember, our citizenship is in heaven and we will press on toward the goal until Jesus returns and takes us HOME to the prize!

Have a great day!

Sunday, December 9th - Psalm 103:11-12

Good Evening!

What a day!  God is AWESOME!  I absolutely love to go and worship with my church family and sing His praises and hear what He has to say through His servant Mike!  I choose to be an Isaac - how about you?

Psalm 103:11-12 - "For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us."

Have you ever thought about how high the heavens are above the earth?  How about how far the east is from the west?  He loves us and He cares about us!  God sent His Son to live among us, to teach us, to show us His ways, to die for us, to conquer death and to give us the hope and promise of eternal life!  How great is our God?
Did you see verse 12?  HE has removed our sins from us - as far as the east is from the west!  He forgives our sins!

I ran into a video awhile back and I just sit and cry every time I watch it!  It speaks of God's creation and how everything was created to give Him praise!  I want to share it with you today and hope you enjoy!

Saturday, December 8th - 1 John 1:7

Hey!

I am on a spiritual high with Jesus!  I can't even begin to express all that I am feeling, thinking and experiencing in my spirit right now!  It is amazing!  I just got home from the third and final Christmas Concert and although physically I am totally exhausted, I have a very gravelly voice, my emotions are spent - I am blessed beyond words and tears of joy and love flow!  The Spirit of the Lord worked mightily in and through us today!  Wow!  The privilege of sharing our God-given talents with thousands was a blessing!  Spending time together throughout the hours we were at church and hearing devotions that moved us to tears was awesome!  God speaks human!  We are chosen!  God chose us!  Wow!

1 John 1:7 - "If we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his son, purifies us from all sin."

What an appropriate verse for today.  I have definitely experienced fellowship with Him and His church these past two days!  As I mentioned yesterday, His blood covers our sin and we are made white as snow.  Let's walk in the Light as He is in the light!

It is late, but I wanted to share with you tonight and let you know I love doing life with y'all!  Let's continue to grow together as we walk in the Light and share it with others!

Love y'all!

Friday, December 7th - Proverbs 25:26,28

Good Morning!

Happy Friday! I am so excited about today as we (choir, orchestra and band) will share our first of three Christmas Concerts tonight at Eastview! We have practiced hard and now we can sing, play and speak for your listening pleasure, but first and foremost for the glory of God - The Reason for the Season! May HE be pleased with our offerings this weekend! "O Come All Ye Faithful" to this "Silent Night" to worship the "Son of God" and hear choirs singing "Joy to the World" because "Born is the King" - "Hallelujah"!
It's going to be a great day!

Proverbs 25:26,28 - "Like a muddied spring or a polluted well is a righteous man who gives way to the wicked."  "Like a city whose walls are broken down is a man who lacks self-control."

Have you ever been eating a meal out in a restaurant and you are talking and having a great time and then you go to take a bite of whatever and it falls in your lap - hitting several places as it falls?  Now your shirt/blouse and possibly more clothing have stains!  That is kind of what like sin is like on our spiritual clothes/our heart.  When we sin we put a stain on our heart - it is dirty.  However, because of the blood of Jesus, those stains can be washed away as we ask forgiveness of each one.
In verse 28 the topic of self-control comes up again.  We have discussed this several times in the past and know how important it is in our lives - with every aspect of our lives.  Remember some of our scriptures that we have read and memorized?  Galatians 5:22-24 which talks about self-control as one of the fruits of the Spirit.   2 Peter 1:5-8 is a passage that helps encourage us in our faith and having self-control is so important as we share our faith with others.  And one other is 1 Peter 5:8 that says we need to be self controlled and alert as the enemy prowls around like a lion looking for someone to devour.  Self-control is important!  How are you doing in this area?  Need prayer or encouragement?  Let us know!

Have a wonderful Friday and remember:  the Baby Jesus was born and became a Man and saved us from our sins, giving us the hope and promise of eternal life - HE is the Reason for the Season!

Love y'all!

Thursday, December 6th - 1 John 1:5-10

Good Morning!

It's Thursday and we only have one more rehearsal and then the concert!  Wow!  Have you got your tickets?  Night Divine - Friday night at 7pm and Saturday at 3pm and 7pm.  May God be glorified and His people be blessed!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: 1 John 1:5-10 ~ You're going to sin - deal with it.  The most efficient way to deal is to confess when you mess up and accept that He forgives you.

I love this passage of Scripture!  When I was in college, we had a chorus that we sang that was taken from verse seven.  It was done in a "round" and when there were several girls singing, it was awesome.  I can still hear nightly devotions and someone would start:  " If we walk (If we walk), in the light (in the light), as He (as He) is in the light (is in the light); we have fellowship with one another (we have fellowship with one another), and the blood (and the blood), of Jesus purifies us from sin (of Jesus purifies us from sin).

Yes, we will sin!  We are not perfect!  Did you read verse 9?  "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."  What a promise!  The hardest part sometimes for me and many is accepting the fact that He forgives.  We beat ourselves up sometimes because we have sinned and hurt God and others.  Claim verse nine and know that God does forgive and He helps us along the way - every step we take - HE is there!

Let's memorize verse seven together and claim His promise: "If we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His son, purifies us from all sin."

Have a great day!

Wednesday, December 5th - Proverbs 24:15-16

Good Morning!

It was a little harder getting out of bed this morning, but we made it!  This week is tough as we are rehearsing for the Christmas concert and trying to keep up with school, work and other activities.  I was able to see a few of you at GEMS last night and was so excited to see new faces!  I will be there in two weeks and looking forward to doing life together!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Proverbs 24:15-16 ~ Which team are you on? Wicked Team ~ Don't care when you hurt God and others.  God's Team ~ It breaks your heart when you mess up. #TeamGod

There are times that I feel so frustrated with myself.  I know what I am suppose to do and what I am suppose to say and even how I am suppose to act, but sometimes I don't!  It is not that I am a part of the Wicked Team, but that I am human and I fall!  When I do I hurt deep inside as I have let God down.
God has promised each one of us that HE will be with us every step of the way - this life and through eternity!  HIS promise is good!  He is beside me and helps me up when I fall - brushes me off and we go on our way!  He is faithful and true to forgive, if I but ask!  I don't want to hurt God or friends and family or even strangers.  I am a member of God's Team and I strive everyday to live for Him.  May others see Jesus in me!

Have a great day and know that I am praying for y'all!

Sunday, December 2nd - Luke 6:45

Happy Sunday!

What a day!  My kids and I were at church by 6:00am and it was a long day, but such a blessing and uplifting day!  We, the choir, had the opportunity to share two of the songs from our upcoming concert; we witnessed a baptism; we participated in an awesome musical worship time (3 times); we heard the numbers from Imagine (over 900 families helped); and we heard a wonderful message!  My heart is overflowing!  My physical body is tired, but my spiritual body is rejoicing and praising my God - my Lord and Savior!  What a way to start the week!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Luke 6:45 ~ The Bible is not hard to understand, read this verse.  Pray for more "good".

"The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart.  For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks."  Luke 6:45

I think I agree with Lisa in that this is not hard to understand.  We have talked about it before and I will reiterate - our spoken words and actions reflect who we are in our hearts.  I also echo Lisa's words: "Pray for more "good""!

I pray that everyone will have a fantastic week and will remember that He is in control - He is the Reason for the Season - and He is to be praised!

Love and Prayers,
Cheri Lynn
