Tuesday, August 14th - Hosea 3

Good Morning!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Hosea 3 ~ Gomer was so in her sin, she found herself a slave to it.  Hosea paid the price to buy her back.  Jesus paid the price for you  #liveforHim

God told Hosea to go and get his wife and show love to her.  Now, Gomer was with another man and probably had another, but God asked Hosea to love her like He loved Israel.  Even when Israel turned to other gods, God loved her!
Hosea went and bought Gomer and told her that she was to love only him and that she would live with him and he with her.  Hosea paid the price for Gomer, even though she was with another man and had been with others, and took her back as his wife.

God sent His Son Jesus to do the very same for us!  We were sinful and Jesus Christ died for us!  Jesus paid the price for us with His own life!  We accept Him as our personal Savior and live for Him - share His love with others - Share the Good News!

"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life."  John 3:16

Have a terrific Tuesday!

Monday, August 13th - Hosea 2:14-23

Good Morning!

Did you hear the rain falling during the night?  It was a very welcome sound and relaxing and easy to sleep by as there was no lightening or thunder.  God is good!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Hosea 2:14-23 ~ God will restore His people, even though they sin against Him.  He may have to lead you to a "desert" to get your attention.

The restoration of Israel by God is a beautiful love story.  It was difficult but beautiful.  In verses 19 and 20 the love of God is shown - "I will betroth you to me forever;... in righteousness and justice, in love and compassion, ... in faithfulness, and you will acknowledge the Lord."

God's love for us is unconditional and true and strong.  Even though we sin and disappoint Him, He still loves us and He will restore us to Him.  We may have to walk a difficult path in the "desert", but He is faithful to walk with us!
Do you feel like you are in a desert right now?  Remember to ask the One that has and is Living Water for a drink.  He is with you and will provide all that you need!

Have a marvelous Monday!

Sunday, August 12th - Hosea 2:1-13

Good Morning!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Hosea 2:1-13 ~ God speaks about adultery here, but it's all about sin.  If we fill our lives with things other than God, He removes His blessing

God does not stand for sin!  We see in this passage that God is talking about Israel and the sin she had committed - worshipping Baal and other gods.  God punished Israel for her sin - her adultery.  God is a jealous God and wants no other gods before Him.

How are we doing today?  Are we living adulterous lives?  Do we have other things that take more of our time and attention than God:  work, TV, electronic gadgets, sports, time, money, etc....  God asks for us to be His and His alone - totally committed and sold out for Him.  He takes care of us and blesses us beyond our wildest dreams, He hears our prayers and answers, and He is ever present in our day to day lives.  God is good!
Take time today to reflect on your life and make sure God hasn't fallen below something in your life.  Are you still committed to Him?
Share the good news and Shine brightly for Him today and everyday!

Have a super Sunday!

Saturday, August 11th - Hosea 1

Good Morning!

What a beautiful morning!  We are suppose to have a perfect weekend with temps in the 80's both today and tomorrow.  Yesterday was a beautiful day too!  I was privileged to spend the last two days with leaders from around the world attending the Willow Creek Global Leadership Summit!  It was inspiring, worshipful, thought provoking and just simply awesome.  God was truly in our midst.  To Him be the honor and glory!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Hosea 1 ~ How could God ask His prophet Hosea to take unfaithful Gomer as his wife?  This parallels God's unending love when we are unfaithful.

Hosea was God's man and he obeyed God even when he maybe didn't understand.  He married Gomer who was an adulterous woman and had children already.  Gomer gave birth to three children with Hosea:  Jezreel was the first son; Lo-Ruhamah was the second - a daughter; and the third was a son - Lo-Ammi.
God's plan was revealed with each child: Jezreel - God would punish the house of Jehu for the massacre at Jezreel and put an end to the kingdom of Israel; with Lo-Ruhamah, God would no longer show love to the house of Israel. but show love to the house of Judah; and finally, Lo-Ammi when God said Israel was not His people and He was not their God.

This was a dark and difficult time for Israel, but she would be punished and restored - all in His great Plan.

God's love for us is unending and unfailing!  No matter what we do, He loves us and asks us to come to Him.  God hates the sin and loves the sinner.  He accepts us with our deepest, darkest secrets and He forgives and washes us white as snow!  God restores, transforms, and makes new our lives!  All glory and praise be unto God - our Father, our Redeemer!  God is good!

Have a great day!

Friday, August 10th - Judges 16

Good Morning!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Judges 16 ~ Delilah valued money more than relationships and being trustworthy.  Why do people love you?  If they put their trust in you, are they safe?

Delilah was definitely a deceiver.  Do you think she ever loved Samson?  I don't!  She was interested in the money.  She had tried several times, three, and he had not told her the truth either time.  I would have thought that Samson would have caught on to her game when she cried the same thing every time - "Samson, the Philistines are upon you!", but he grew tired of her nagging and told her the truth.  He was captured and blinded and sent to prison.  Delilah received the money and all were happy - except Samson.
I don't know just how much time passed, but Samson's hair grew back and he asked to be put next to the pillars of the temple.  He knew what he was going to do from the time he had left the prison.
He called upon God to give him strength and power one last time and he would die with the Philistines.  God answered his prayer and he killed more in his death than he had in his lifetime.  (verse 30)  The last part of verse 31 says that Samson led Israel for twenty years.  He had served God well.

The two questions Lisa asks in this morning's tweet are important.  Why do people love you or want to have a friendship/relationship with you?  Are you trustworthy?  Do you have their back, are you looked at as a person with integrity and good character?  Take a minute or some time to reflect on yourself - how do people see you?  Are you true to God and live for Him each and every day?  Yes we all fall, but we can still be a person of integrity and good character.

Have a great day!

Thursday, August 9th - Judges 13:24-15:20

Good Evening!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Judges 13:24-15:20 ~ Here comes another bad girl - Delilah.  Before we get to her, read the story of Samson ~ Judges 13:24-15:20.  How did he use his God given strength?

The story of Samson is interesting.  He was strong and blessed by the Lord.  Verse 14:5 says that "The Spirit of the Lord came upon him in power so that he tore the lion apart with his bare hands..."  In verse 19 it happened again and he struck down 30 men and took their clothes to give to the men that had answered the riddle because his wife had betrayed him.
Verse 15:14 it happened again and the Spirit of the Lord came upon him and he killed a thousand men.  The Lord was with him and gave him water to drink.
Notice 15:20 - "Samson led Israel for twenty years in the days of the Philistines."  He was God's man and he served God by leading Israel.

There is more to come and we will see a different side of Samson when he comes in contact and falls in love with Delilah.  Stay tuned!

Have a great day!

Wednesday, August 8th - 2 Kings 9:30-37

Good Morning,

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: 2 Kings 9:30-37 ~ There's a lot to this story, here's the main thing:  A person may think she can do what she wants; ultimately God's justice wins.

A lot of things happened from the time Ahab met Elijah and was told what would become of him, his descendants and Jezebel.  Jezebel was evil and did whatever she desired.  She used many to do her work for her and carry out her evil schemes, but in the end it was as it had been said by Elijah.
Remember in 21:23 of 1 Kings Elijah said to Ahab: "And also concerning Jezebel the Lord says: 'Dogs will devour Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel.'"  That is what happened.
If you read the whole chapter of today's verses (2 Kings 9), you will get the whole story of why Jezebel was killed.  Jehu had been appointed as the King of Israel and was told by God through His prophet to destroy the house of Ahab.  God said that He would avenge the blood of His servants the prophets and the blood of all the Lord's servants shed by Jezebel. (2 Kings 9:7)  Justice had been done!

God is watching us.  There are many times that I wonder and even ask - "How much longer God?  There is such evil in the world today."  God's Plan - send His Son into the world to die and rise again - giving us the hope and promise of eternal life with Him!  God has sent us out to share the Good News until the whole world knows and then He will return to take us HOME!  It will not be easy, but that is what we have been called to do - Let's shine brightly and share boldly for Him today!

A fearless church of Christ followers whose ridiculous love and dangerous witness are irresistible.  I am all in, are you?
