Friday, March 30th - Isaiah 59:15-21

Good Afternoon!

The kids and I are furiously cleaning and straightening up things as we get ready for my folks to come tomorrow.  They are already in Illinois, back in Effingham visiting with my Aunt (my Dad's sister).  They will be here sometime tomorrow.  :o)

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Isaiah 59:15-21 ~ God teaches us about spiritual armor (Ephesians 6:10-20).  He uses the same armor; Christ wore the helmet of salvation that saves us (17).

Notice in verse 17 that Christ also wore the breastplate of righteousness and the helmet of salvation.  God knows how to protect His own - with the armor He has given us.  The promise in verse 21 is so comforting - the Spirit and God's Word will not depart from us!

God is with us every step of the way - no matter what we are going through or what we encounter along the way.  God is good ALL the time - All the time God IS good!

Have a great Friday evening!

Thursday, March 29th - Psalm 3

Good Evening!

Have you had a good day?  I have gotten quite a bit accomplished today and feel good!  My back is a little tired, but all in all, it has been a productive day!  My folks are coming in Saturday and so I am cleaning the house for them!  :o)  It will be fun to have them here for a week and to celebrate Nathaniel's birthday together next Thursday!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 3 ~ God is your shield (Ephesians 6:16) from your enemies and from the schemes that Satan tries to distract and destroy you with.

God protects us!  He protect His own!  "From the Lord comes deliverance."  Psalm 3:8a  He cares about each one of us!  He sent His Son to die on a cross for us!
I read a tweet from Max Lucado this morning: "While His killers slept and followers wept, Jesus stood up from the slab of death and stepped out into the Easter morning sunrise."

Isn't that the greatest picture!  Jesus walking out of the tomb into the sunrise!  Wow!

Take up your shield and fight the good fight!

Wednesday, March 28th - Romans 10:13-15

Good Morning!

It was a little chillier than the last few mornings have been.  I let the puppy out and she didn't want to go out!  The wind was blowing and it was cooler!  She is so spoiled!  I am going to work today and then I am taking Thursday and Friday off!  Spring Break!  Yeah!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Romans 10:13-15 ~ Gospel of peace and truth:  Faith in Jesus gives eternal life and the ability to live with power.  Are you ready to tell others?

We used this passage of Scripture when we were raising support to go to the mission field - my parents and our family!  Three great questions:  1. How can they call on someone they have not believed in?    2.  How can they believe in one of whom they have not heard?  3. And how can they hear without someone to preach to them?   4.  How can they preach unless they are sent?

I went with my family and watched my Mom and Dad share the Good News and then I went on my own and shared the Good News through teaching, through music and drama, through coaching, and working with women in Bible Studies.  My heart still beats strong for the mission field and I will probably return someday to the foreign field, but only if God so leads.  I am happy where He has me now - working with GEMS and other things.

Are you willing to share the Good News wherever you may be?  Please share it with everyone you meet.  You may be the only Jesus they see!

Have a great day!
Love and prayers!

Tuesday, March 27th - 1 Thessalonians 5:4-11

Good Morning!

I hope this finds you well and ready to face the day.  Remember, with God, all things are possible.  He is with us every step of the day and provides everything that we need.  It is going to be a great day!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: 1 Thessalonians 5:4-11 ~ As a "child of light", put on faith and love as a breastplate to protect your heart so you are able to love fully and freely.

"We are children of light and of the day and do not belong to the night or darkness."  (1 Thess 5:5)  We are to protect ourselves with the breastplate of faith and love and be self-controlled.  We need to share with others His love.  Did you see in verse 9 where it says that God appointed us to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ!  Verse 10 is the promise I live day to day: "He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him."  Hallelujah!  Eternal life!

In verse 11, we find a charge that we need to continually do until He returns to take us Home:  "Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing."  This is so important to each of us.  We need to be there for our sisters and our brothers - our family.  Let us continue to encourage and build up our family and friends.  Share the love that God has given and shown us.  Shine for Him!

I would challenge each of you today to encourage one or two others through a conversation, text message, email or phone call.  Make a difference in some one's life today!

Love y'all!

Monday, March 26th - 2 Corinthians 6:4-10

Good Evening!

Sorry I am later today with the Blog.  It was a busy day, but a good day!  I got to talk to my sister for a few minutes, as she celebrated her birthday today!  She is 18 months younger than me!  :o)  It was great to chat for a bit and catch up on things.

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: 2 Corinthians 6:4-10 ~ Being a Christian does not mean life is easy.  Belt of truth (Ephesians 6:14) = "truthful speech".  Let God's truth guide all you do today.

We are called to live a life for Christ and He did not say it would be easy!  We have brothers and sisters in Christ all over the world that are dying because of their Christian life.  We may face the same things in the future.  Are you ready?

This passage tells of the hardships of Paul, but really of all Christians.  Paul endured much - hardships, distresses, beatings, imprisonments, riots, hard work, sleepless nights, hunger, and much more.  But with truthful speech, the Holy Spirit and sincere love, he endured and survived to continue to spread the Good News!  We can and will too!!!

Have a great evening!

Sunday, March 25th - James 4:7-10

Good Afternoon!

What an absolutely gorgeous day!  Spring is starting off pretty good!  I love being outside with the kids and enjoying God's beautiful creation!  How about you?

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: James 4:7-10 ~ Humbly admit you need God!  He'll open your eyes to Satan's schemes and strengthen you to resist and flee!  God will lift you up!

Verse 7 and 8 are really key to this passage:  "Submit yourselves, then, to God.  Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.  Come near to God and He will come near to you."  Did you notice the action words?  We have to take action - submit, resist, come near...  In verse 10 the action continues: "Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up."  What a promise from God - He will lift us up!

He is with us all the way - every step - every hour of every day!  Thank you God for being with me at all times!  I will always live for You!

Have a great afternoon!

Saturday, March 24th - 1 Peter 5:6-11

Good Morning!

How are you spending your day today?  I am running errands and then playing some wiffle ball with some friends and then having a sleep over at a friend's house.  Full day!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: 1 Peter 5:6-11 ~ The devil constantly wants to distract and destroy you.  Be alert; God will make you strong!  Humbly live under God's mighty care.

Have you read this passage?  There is a lot of action that we need to take and God will answer with restoration and make us strong, firm and steadfast.  Look at the action words:  Humble yourselves - Cast all your anxiety on Him - Be self-controlled and alert - Resist the devil - Stand firm!
God's mighty hand will lift us up!  He will make us strong!  God cares for us!

What better way to live our lives than to continue to humble ourselves before the Almighty God and live for Him!  There is nothing better!

I can't wait to kneel before His Throne and express my love and gratitude for His tender loving care and for the sacrifice that He made so that I might live with Him forever!  Thank you God for giving Your Son - Thank you Jesus for paying the price and giving Your life so that I might have eternal life with You in Heaven - and thank you Holy Spirit for being my Guide as I live lift this side of Heaven.

Praise to God the Father - God the Son - God the Holy Spirit!

Blessings!

Friday, March 23rd - 2 Corinthians 10:3-6

Good Evening!

Happy Friday!  Wasn't it a gorgeous day?  We have a full weekend ahead of us, but a lot of it is going to be spent outside in God's beautiful creation, enjoying the Spring weather.  I love this weather!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: 2 Corinthians 10:3-6 ~ Wage war; win the battle; live your life with peace, purpose and direction.  Consistently use the "weapons" and armor God gives.

We live in this world, but we are not part of this world.  This is really hard to understand at times, but we are part of the family of God and have eternal life with Him.  God has given us "weapons" to use to fight His fight against evil.  We have the Word of God that is our sword!  It is sharp and cuts to the bone.  We need to always be ready!
Each morning we need to prepare for the day and put on the armor of God and prepare for battle.  We must know the Word so that we can use it as our weapon against the evil one.

As Lisa said in our Bible Reading Plan:  Be sure to get fully suited up today, sister!

Love y'all!

Thursday, March 22nd - 1 Corinthians 15:57-58

Good Morning!

I am at home today with a sick boy!  His allergies are getting the best of him and me too!  He can't stop sneezing and his eyes are watering and he is just pretty miserable.  Hopefully he will get to feeling better soon.

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: 1 Corinthians 15:57-58 ~ Victory = following Christ and leaning on Him in prayer.  As you work to stay faithful in prayer, it will not be "in vain."

I want verse 58 to be my motto:  "Therefore, "your name", stand firm.  Let nothing move you.  Always give yourself fully to the work of the Lord, because you know, (insert your name), that your labor in the Lord is not in vain."
Wow!  That makes it very personal!  I want to serve Him with everything I am until He returns to take me home!  I will share the Good News wherever I may go and know that my labor for the Lord and for the Kingdom is not in vain!

Happy Thursday!

Wednesday, March 21st - Romans 8:31-39

Good Evening!

I apologize for being later today, but I didn't receive Lisa's tweet until later this morning and I was at work and couldn't write.  Sorry!  I missed y'all last evening, but I had some great family time with my brother and his family.  They came to town Sunday night and will leave tomorrow to return to Tennessee.  I do miss all of them, but especially my brother.  It was great to spend some time with them this week and to catch up on things!

Lisa's first tweet: LMRMinistries:  The next 2 weeks of tweets focus on the power we have in Christ...and on using the "armor" God gives us (Ephesians 6:10-20)

Lisa's 2nd tweet: LMRMinistries: Romans 8:31-39 ~ You are God's very own.  Take your focus off of that, you might think you can't "do" this life.  You are a conqueror with God's power.

I love this passage of scripture.  It is just packed full of promises from God to us!  "If God is for us, who can be against us?" 8:31b  God did not spare His Son, but gave Him up for us all!  He gives us all things!  "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?  8:35a  Nothing!!!  "We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us."  8:37

Look at the list the author gives in verses 38 and 39:  neither death nor life; neither angels nor demons; neither the present nor the future; nor any powers; neither height nor depth; nor anything else in all creation!  Nothing can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord!  Hallelujah!!!  Praise His Name!!!!  WooHoo!!!

May we continue to praise Him until He comes again!
Maranatha!!!

Tuesday, March 20th - 3 John 3-4

Good Morning!

It's going to be a great day and I will miss all of you tonight.  I have a few things happening this evening all at the same time and so won't be able to join you for GEMS.  I will be praying for you though!  :o)  One of the things I get to do this afternoon is register my little one for Kindergarten!  That doesn't seem possible!  I don't know if I am ready for this or not.

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: 3 John 3-4 ~ An amazing thing for someone to say about us - "She lives her life spreading the word, faithfully teaching and walking in His truth".

Is there someone saying this about you?  I hope so!  As we walk through life, day to day, I hope we are sharing the Good News and walking in the Truth!  Are you sharing His love with those you meet?  Are you shining for Him?
One of my daily prayers is that others will see Christ shining through me.  I know there are times that I let Him down, but He helps me back up and we walk together and He shines through me!

May you continue to spread the Word and teach others and walk in the Truth!

Have a great GEMS tonight!

Monday, March 19th - Galatians 5:13-26

Good Morning!

What a beautiful day it is going to be!  Yes, we might get some rain, but the temps are wonderful and we have Sonshine within us to shine on others - Jesus!  Won't you shine for Him today?

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Galatians 5:13-26 ~ Following God's absolute truth sets you free from desiring to make sinful choices.  Living vv 19-21 pain and drama; vv 22-23= Beauty

Did you see the title of this passage?  "Life by the Spirit"  That pretty much sums it up!  Let's look at some of the phrases within this passage.  "You, were called to be free."  "Serve one another in love."  "Love your neighbor as yourself."  "Live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature."

Verses 19 through 21 gives us a partial list of the things of the sinful nature.  They will bring pain and hurt and drama to life.  However, look at verses 22 and 23 - the fruit of the Spirit that lives within us!  These things will bring beauty, peace and contentment.  We all need to have these two verses memorized!

Verses 24 and 25 too!  We have crucified the sinful nature - let us keep in step with the Spirit!  We are victorious in Christ Jesus!

Have a wonderful day!

Sunday, March 18th - 2 Peter 2:1-3

Blessings to you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ!
What an awesome morning at church!  I was in tears all morning long - from 6:15 when the choir was practicing until the end of third service.  The Spirit was moving at the early hours when we began to gather and as we sang the choruses, we were all in worship and singing to our God and our Savior who sit on the Throne!  Wow!  Hands raised, tears flowing, and our voices praising our Awesome God!  It was amazing!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: 2 Peter 2:1-3 ~ People who deny God's truth and make up a belief system that fits their limited knowledge and their opinions are false teachers.

After a morning like I just experienced, it is hard for me to believe that others would deny God and deny His existence.  He bought us with the price of His very own Son and has given us everything we need to live and have eternal life with Him in Heaven.
However, His Word tells us to beware and be alert to the fact that there have been, there are and will be false teachers.

Be ready!  Be alert!  Know His Word and He will give us the strength and knowledge that we need to fight the enemy.  Shine bright!  Let Jesus shine through you!

Love y'all!

Saturday, March 17th - 2 Timothy 4:1-5

Good Evening!

I am exhausted, but full!  Another great day at Hearts at Home with record numbers attending and meeting some wonderful people!  I even got to hold a one month old named Henry!  That was really fun and talking to his grandmother about adoption as an option for her daughter that is single and wants to be a Mom!  It was a fantastic day!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: 2 Timothy 4:1-5 ~ Deal gently with people who reject God's truth - but never compromise.  People want to hear what they want.  God is not a "Yes" man.

The key verse of this short passage is verse two:  "Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke, and encourage--with great patience and careful instruction."

Are you ready to share your faith?  Are you ready to encourage others with the Word of God?  Share what you know - don't wait until you know it all (which you probably never will).

Be ready!  Be Bold!  Be dangerous!  And remember - ALL Glory to the Heavenly Father!

See ya tomorrow!

Friday, March 16th - 1 John 5:1-12

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: 1 John 5:1-12 ~ God's ways aren't heavy - they lead to freedom from bondage to sin.  Those who reject His teaching aren't His kids by their choice.

"He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life."
1 John 5:12

Thursday, March 15th - Psalm 119:33-40

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 119:33-40 ~ If you struggle to believe that the Bible is God's absolute truth, pray and ask Him to teach you more about Himself.

Look at the action words in this passage:

Teach me - follow - give me understanding - obey - direct me - turn my heart -turn my eyes - renew my life - fulfill - take away - and yet again, renew my life.

Wednesday, March 14, 2012

Wednesday, March 14th - Romans 6:1-18

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Romans 6:1-18 ~ The absolute truth = we are slaves to that which we offer ourselves (16).  Freedom = believing in Jesus and following His teachings.

This passage reminds me of Galatians 2:20 - "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.  The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."

Tuesday, March 13, 2012

Tuesday, March 13th - John 8:31-47

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: John 8:31-47 ~ Jesus says that truth will set you free...free from sin and the strangling hold it has over you.  Who's your Daddy?  God or Satan?

John 8:36 - "If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."

Monday, March 12th - Psalm 119:105-112

Good Morning!

I am tired this morning.  Maybe it's because of such a busy and fun weekend, but I am not looking forward to going to work.  I would like to just stay home and vegg, but.....

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 119:105-112 ~ We can put ourselves on paths that don't lead to peace (107 & 109).  God's absolute truth will direct us on a right path (105).

I memorized verse 105 when I was in church camp.  It is a verse that I recall often and remember because I believe it and focus on it.  God's Word is our guide and It does direct us through every step of life.

Verses 107 through 109 ask for renewal through God's Word, acceptance of our praise and teaching from His Word, and finally, not to forget His Word.  It is our guide!  Verse 111 indicates that God's Word is the joy of David's heart.  May it be mine too!

May we walk the right path!

Have a great day!

Sunday, March 11th - 1 Corinthians 13

Good Morning!

Are ya tired?  I don't know about y'all, but this DST is tough!  I love the fact that it stays light longer in the afternoon and evening, but I don't like going to work in the dark!  I wonder how many will be late for church today!  :o)  I hope everyone remembered to "spring" forward!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: 1 Corinthians 13 ~ Love and truth absolutely go together (6).  Pray that God would increase your ability to love like Him as it's modeled in the Bible.

Have you read 1 Corinthians 13?  Did you know this is called the "Love" chapter of the Bible?

Look how it starts: "And now I will show you the most excellent way."  In the first three verses we read that if we do all good things, but don't have love - they are worthless and we are nothing.  Love is the foundation, the base, the deciding factor.  It is the most excellent way!

In verses four through eight, we find the definition of LOVE.  This is a very popular passage and I want you to read it slowly and think about each word.  "Love is patient, love is kind.  It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.  Love never fails." (1 Corinthians 13:4-8a)

Verse 13 closes the chapter as it began, "And now these three remain:  faith, hope and love.  But the greatest of these is love."

Father God, help me to love like You.  Help me to embrace and understand the love that You model and have described in Your Word.  Let me have and show the love that is spoken of here.  Help me to grow in this love!  I love You with all that I am!  In Jesus Name, Amen.

Have a great Lord's Day!  Hope to see you at church!

Saturday, March 10th - Psalm 19

Good Evening!

I apologize for being late today with this post, but I was in Chicago with the kids last night and came back to Bloomington/Normal this afternoon.  We had a great time while away and, as always, we were glad to get back home.  :o)  Don't forget to change your clocks tonight and "spring" forward!  Yeah, we lose an hour sleep!!  Ugh!

Lisa's Tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 19 ~God absolutely shows majesty in His creation (1-6). He gives us guidelines for right living (7-10). He has the answers for life (11-13).

I absolutely love the imagery in this passage of Scripture.  It is so "alive" and brilliant.  Can you see?  It is as if the picture jumps from the page into my mind and I can see the whole thing!  Wow!  It is awesome.

Look at the descriptive words used to describe the laws and commands of God: perfect, reviving, trustworthy, right, radiant, pure, enduring, sure, righteous, more precious than gold and sweeter than honey.

I love verse 14 and make that my prayer:  "May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer."

Amen!

Friday, March 9th - Psalm 119:145-152

Good Morning!

What a beautiful sunrise!  God is good ALL the time - All the time God IS good!  It is going to be a beautiful day and the start to a wonderful weekend!  Praise God from Whom all blessings flow!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 119:145-152 ~ To absolutely live with hope and know God will preserve your life (147, 149), meditate on His Truth found in the Bible.

Seek His Face each and every day and He will guide you throughout every minute!  That is a promise we have from God and He always delivers and keeps His promises.  The psalmist here in this passage is crying out to God and asking for God's help.  Verse 147 says he rises up before dawn and cries for help; he has put his hope in God's Word - The Truth.
The psalmist meditates on God's Word.  He studies it!  Verse 151 - all Your commands are true.

We need to have that daily time with the Lord, our God!  It is essential to our lives!  We need to meditate, study and understand His Word so that we live a life that honors and glorifies Him!
I have to admit, it is hard for me to understand how people make it in today's world without Jesus - without God - without a strong faith and hope in eternal life.

Let's live for Him today!
Have a great Friday!

Thursday, March 8th - Psalm 119:137-144

Good Morning!

I am loving this weather.  The smell of the rain this morning was awesome!  The warmer temperatures are great.  This has been one of my favorite winters.  :o)

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 119:137-144 ~ God is absolutely trustworthy - He never changes. As you follow Biblical principles, you understand how to live with power.

The psalmist cries to the Lord and explains his dependence on Him.  He is righteous and His laws are right.  He is trustworthy!  His righteousness is everlasting and never changes!  His law is true!  The psalmist in verse 144 asks for understanding that he might live.  We should have that same request today!

Father God, I come to You this morning and ask for understanding of Your Word - The Truth - that I might live.  Father, may others see You living in me as I walk through my day and my life!  Help me not to miss opportunities to share Your Good News and to spread Your joy through my words and actions!  I love You Lord!

Have a blessed day!

Wednesday, March 7th - John 17:6-19

Good Evening!

I am back!  I apologize for taking a break, but had some stuff going on and needed to step away for a bit.  I am back and ready to roll, so hang on!  :o)

Lisa's tweets from today:
LMRMinistries: Next two weeks: We'll look through the Bible at the idea that God's Word contains Absolute Truth. Good news in a world that needs an anchor.
LMRMinistries: John 17:6-19 ~ Jesus prays that The Word that contains all truth would absolutely sanctify you-set you apart-give you power to live a holy life.

This whole passage in John 17 is Jesus praying for His disciples and ultimately for us.  He is talking to His Father - God!  Jesus says that the disciples accepted Him and knew He was from the Father.  Verse 9 He says:  "I pray for them..."  Verse 11 He indicates that He is returning to Heaven and they (the disciples) will still be in the world.  "Holy Father, protect them by the power of Your name...so that they may be one as we are one."  What an awesome prayer!

Verse 17 and 18 are key..."Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.  As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world."  Marching orders from Jesus!  God's Word IS truth and we are sanctified by it!  We need to live by it!  People need to see the Truth living in us - the Truth of Jesus Christ and God the Father!  What an awesome responsibility.  We are to live in the world, but we are not of this world!  Our hope lies in Jesus and eternal life with Him.  GO - share the Good News - the Truth with all you meet!  You have been "set apart" for such a time as this!  GO!

Have a great evening!

Thursday, March 1st - Proverbs 19:21; 21:30

LMRMinistries: Proverbs 19:21; 21:30 ~ Lay your plans in front of God.  You can do what you want, but to succeed, you'll need the "God's Will" stamp of approval.  :o)
