Sunday, August 19th - John 11:17-27

Good Morning!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: John 11:17-27 ~ Martha's detail-mind made her misunderstand how Jesus was working.  When God answers your prayers, be wide open to HOW He's doing it.

Wow!  This package is packed with golden nuggets of Scripture.  First of all Jesus finds out that Lazarus has already been in the grave for four days.  Jesus knew what was going to take place, but He wanted to teach a lesson and glorify His Father.
I think verse 20 tells us about a new Martha, as it says that she went to meet Jesus.  We are told in the previous verse that there were many people that had come to comfort Mary and Martha in the death of their brother.  Under usual circumstances, Martha would have still been trying to minister to the people and make preparations and such, but verse 20 says that Martha went to meet Jesus and Mary stayed home.  Interesting!
Verse 21 shows Martha's faith.  She tells Jesus that she knows Lazarus wouldn't have died if He had been there, but she also knows that God will give Jesus whatever He asks and Jesus tells her that Lazarus will live again.  Martha again expresses her knowledge and that Lazarus will indeed live again in the day of the resurrection.
Verse 25 is pivotal and so important: "Jesus said, 'I am the resurrection and the life.  He who believes in me will live even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.  Do you believe this?'"  Here it is - the Gospel and our hope of eternal life!  Martha goes on to state in verse 27 that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God!  She knew and understood.  She had chosen correctly this time and believed Jesus could do anything.

I believe in Jesus an He is my Lord and Savior.  I know that I will be with Him someday in Heaven and live forever praising His name and His Father, God!  Do you believe?

Have a stupendous Sunday!
