Thursday, August 16th - Rahab's story

Good Morning!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: I love what God communicates thru Rahab's story:  He loves, accepts and honors all people regardless of their background.  Matthew 1:5, Hebrews 11:31, James 2:25

We read the story of Rahab yesterday where she hid the spies and they made an oath that she and her family would be saved when the Israelites came and destroyed the city.  If you read on in chapter 6, you will see what happens to Jericho and Rahab and her family are saved.  They lived with the Israelites after they were taken from Rahab's house.

If we read the different passages mentioned in today's tweet, we will see that Rahab was a part of God's plan.  Matthew 1:5 - "Salmon the father of Boaz, whose mother was Rahab."  If you did not read the preceding verses in Matthew, this is the genealogy of Jesus Christ!
Hebrews 11:31 - "By faith the prostitute Rahab, because she welcomed the spies, was not killed with those who were disobedient."  Her faith in God saved her and her family.  And finally, James 2:25 - "In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction?"  Rahab was righteous because of her faith in God and her actions.

As I wrote yesterday, God loves us all and sometimes uses the most unlikely to do His work.  We all serve Him as we share the Good News to those who do not know.  Just remember, God loves, accepts and honors all people regardless of their background.  He washes us white as snow and we are new creations.  Remember the quote I gave you yesterday?  "God doesn't always call the qualified, but qualifies the called."
Go and serve our risen Lord and Savior, our Father God!

Have a thankful Thursday!
