Tuesday, May 31st - Psalm 6

Good Evening!
How are you tonight?  Are you tired?  Are you discouraged?  Are you crying out?  Do you long for His love?  I do!

Lisa's tweet from this morning:  LMRMinistries: Psalm 6:  I love the raw honesty here.  We all go through times when we are worn out with trials.  God hears our cry for mercy and accepts us.
We all face days when it seems nothing goes right.  Our children get on our nerves and we remember that they are our little blessings, but....  We go to work and are in a fairly good mood - talk to one person about their horrible weekend and they bring us down....  We get home and are met with all the laundry, the grocery shopping, homework, a project that needs to be done tomorrow, etc. and we feel defeated.
We go to our quiet place and begin to pour out our souls to God and ask Him to deliver us! Sisters, He hears and answers our prayers with His unfailing love!  He meets us right where we are!  We can be down and filthy and He picks us up, brushes us off and says, "Come my child, you need some rest."  We rest in His arms of love and know that He is in control.
I think it was last week that I wrote about the fact that God longs to be loved.  He accepts us right where we are and we just need to seek Him and find Him and love Him.  He wants our love!  His love and mercy is everlasting!  He hears our weeping; He hears our cries for mercy and He accepts our prayers!
We serve an awesome God!  He wants only the very best for us!  Seek His face each and every day and strengthen your personal relationship with Him.  He wants to be a part of everything that you do!  We need to talk to Him about everything - the big and the small!

I love y'all!
Sleep well!

Monday, May 30th - Psalm 5

Good Evening!

I hope all of you have enjoyed a relaxing Memorial Day and have taken time to pray for all those that are serving our country so that we may have the freedom we enjoy!
I traveled back to Illinois today from Missouri and it was a beautiful day to travel.  I have to admit I am a little on the tired side, but the weekend was great!  It is always good to be with family!

Lisa's tweet for today:  LMRMinistries:  Psalm 5:  If people in our lives do not tell the truth about us, vs 8-11 tell us to let God handle them.  Vs. 2:  Go to the right source for help!

When I was in college we sang a song that the lyrics were taken from the first 6 verses of this Psalm.  I loved that fact that I was crying out to God and asking Him to consider what I was praying - asking and acknowledging that He was/is/forever will be my God and my King!
I pray in prayer - expecting!  Expecting an answer - no matter which way it may go with a yes or a no!  We ask for the Lord's leading!  We take refuge in Him and forever sing for joy!  He surrounds the righteous with His favor as with a shield!  He protects His own!

Let us fully trust in God and let Him be our defense.  When we try and take things into our own hands, we most often fail.  Let Him have control!

I love y'all!
Have a great night!

Sunday, May 29th - Psalm 4

Good Evening!

Sorry it is so late tonight, but I just came in from a great adventure.  My sister and her family came up for supper tonight and then we all went down and took a boat ride to see fireworks.  It was awesome!  I think I had more fun watching the kids than anything else.  They were giggling and just having a good time together.
I was able to sing twice for church this morning where my Dad preaches.  It was a great day!  Hope y'all enjoyed the same!

Lisa's tweet this morning:  LMRMinistries: Psalm 4: Do you have things that worry you? Vs. 3: Know that the lord has set apart the godly for himself - He sees, He hears, and He answers.
This passage is full of promises and also requests,  Vs. 3b: "The Lord will hear when I call to him."  Vs. 6b: "Let the Light of Your face shine upon us, O Lord.!"  Complete dependence on God - our Creator, our friend, our center piece!

Hope y'all get a good night's rest!  Happy Memorial Day!  Please don't forget to remember those that fight or have fought for our freedom!  Especially remember Bethany on this day and weekend!

Love y'all!

Saturday, May 28th - Psalm 3

Greetings from Camdenton, Missouri - Lake of the Ozarks!

It has been a good day and I have spent it with my folks and my kids.  I saw my sister and brother-in-love and the boys as well.  Cindy and Derlani and Cindy's sister-in-love planted flowers for my Mom.  They look great!

Mom's garden
Derlani was so very proud of herself!  She did do a great job!
Lisa's tweet today:  LMRMinistries:  Psalm 3: Fear is a natural reaction; we demonstrate our faith by what we do with that fear.  Choose to trust God - He will give you easy rest.
Psalm 3 is a psalm where David turns to the Lord and asks for deliverance and protection.  He says, "But You are a shield around me, O Lord,....To the Lord I cry aloud, and He answers me....Arise, O Lord!  Deliver me, O my God!....From the Lord comes deliverance."

He is on your side and He is is control!  He will protect!  Give it all to Him!  Cry out to Him and He will hear and answer your prayers!

Have a great Lord's Day tomorrow!
I love y'all!

Poem by Peggy - Open It

Several of you have asked about the poem Peggy recited Wednesday night and it is finally here!  As you read it, would you please pray for Peggy (the author) and all of us (GEMS) that we may be bold and share our faith with all we meet!

Open It

A lump came to my throat and stayed,
But there's no need to be afraid.
There's conversation to be made, if I just Open it.

I must keep trying to be kind,
And share with all the joys I find.
I'll try not to close my mind, but Open it.

And each day from the very start,
I'll try to do my Christian part.
I'll love my neighbor with all my heart. I'll Open it.

With these gifts I plan to soar,
for God has told me to plant more.
I know He led me to this door to Open it.

So when I hear the flute or fife,
there will be no more pain or strife.
because of how I lived my life, I Opened it.

And then God will not hesitate,
He'll see no further need to wait.
He'll turn to Peter at the gate and say, "Open it!"
                                                      ~ Peggy Nichols

Thank you Peggy!  I love it!  May you continue to share with us and others!

Have a great day!

Friday, May 27th - Psalm 2

Hey GEMS!

I am blogging tonight from Camdenton, Missouri.  We drove down this afternoon and got here about 6:45pm.  It was a good drive as I drove in and out of rain and watched as God's beautiful creation changed constantly.  I was reminded how awesome He is and how He is in control!

The text for today was: LMRMinistries: Psalm 2: God is in control.  Rulers/people may challenge Him, but He will respond in a mighty way.  You are blessed as you take refuge in Him.
I think this whole Psalm can be boiled down to verse 11: "Serve the Lord with fear and rejoice with trembling."  We see a very similar passage in Deuteronomy 10 that reads like this:  "...what does the Lord your God ask of you but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways, to love Him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul."  In Hebrews we are told to worship God acceptably with reverence and awe.

Above all we need to remember that our God is the Creator, the Author and Finisher of our faith, the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End!  There is no other like Him!  He is in control and we are to enter His presence with thanksgiving, but in total awe of Him!  I was reminded on Tuesday, that God longs to be loved by us!  We need just look for Him and seek His face!  Show Him that you love Him through your faith and service and reverence to Him.

Hope you all had a great day!  I will talk to you again tomorrow.

Love and prayers!

Thursday, May 26th - Psalm 1

Good Evening GEMS,

I hope you have had a great day and are getting ready for a long weekend.  Did you have to get the jackets back out of the closet today?  I refused, but was cold as I walked into work.  Burrrrr!

Well, we received our first tweet from Lisa this morning!  For those that are viewing them here on the Blog, here was the tweet:  LMRMinistries:  Read Psalm 1. Delight in the Lord - day and night.  Think about how you spend your time today.  Are you choosing God over other things?

Blessed is the man who meditates on the Law day and night.  The symbolism is awesome in this passage.  The righteous man is like a tree that grows and bears fruit, his leaves do not wither, and whatever he does prospers.  The Lord watches over him!
On the other hand the wicked man is like chaff that blows around in the wind, not resting or taking a stand; and the way of the wicked will perish.

How did you spend your day today?  Were you sowing seeds or reaping fruit?  We may never see the fruit of that which we have planted, but it will grow and become a great tree someday.  Just as He waters and prunes us, He will be faithful to water and trim all!

The Lord watches over us and He longs to sit and listen and talk with you and with me.  Are we ready?  Are we willing to take time out and spend with Him in a deep conversation and not just five minutes before we rush out the door?  I am!  I think this study of the Psalms is going to be great!

I love y'all!  Remember to comment or contact us with questions.  We are here to encourage and to help in any way we can!

Love and prayers!

Wednesday, May 25th - 1 Peter 4:6-11 and Ephesians 4:15-16

Hey GEMS!

Wasn't tonight spectacular?  Wow!  I am sorry for those of you that missed tonight, but we prayed for you!!  It started out great and then God provided some extra bonding time for all of us (kids too!) in the back hallway of the worship center.  There were some that were scared, there was singing, there was praying, it was a great time to get to know each other.  :o)
We all went back and left our kids in their rooms and we had a great celebration.  Hard to believe that it was our last GEMS for this season.  We will start back again on Tuesday nights in early September!  Can't wait!!

This Blog will continue however everyday.  Lisa is going to be "Tweeting" from the Psalms each day and I will add her Tweet and then a short reflection or devotional or word from the Lord.  You will be able to keep up with things throughout the whole summer.  :o)

Now, on to our scripture passages for tonight.  1 Peter 4:8-11.  Above all, love each other deeply.... This short passage is packed full of little nuggets.  Guess we could think of this as a recipe of praise:
-  A large dose of hospitality to one another without the grumbling
-  A heaping portion of the gift you were given to serve others
-  A pinch of administering God's grace in various forms
-  Speak the words as one speaking the words of God
-  Draw upon the strength that God provides and serve
-  Above all, love each other deeply as it covers many sins
-  Stir it all together so that God is praised through Jesus Christ and that HE receives the praise forever and forever!

Ephesians 4:15 and 16 - We will all grow up into Him who is the Head, that is Christ.  From Him the whole body grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.  All that we do needs to be in love!  Serve each other!  Love each other!  Encourage each other!  Respect each other!  Together - PRAISE HIM who created us and loved us so much that HE GAVE His only Son to die and pay the price for our sins and raised Him up giving victory over death and our hope and assurance of eternal life with HIM!

I love you all and I pray that you will have a good night's rest!  Talk to you tomorrow!
Blessings!

Tuesday, May24th - Proverbs 19:27

Good Evening!

It got pretty hot today and it was gorgeous!  I have to admit though, I was praying for all of Oklahoma this evening as I watched the weather and they were hit by more tornadoes and bad weather.  My heart goes out to those families that have lost loved ones and their homes and are still searching for others.  Please pray with me for all those affected by the tornado on Sunday and the ones today.

Proverbs 19:27 - "Stop listening to instruction my son, and you will stray from the words of knowledge."
As Lisa wrote on our Scripture Reading sheet, it is so easy to get distracted and begin to fall into our old ways.  When we stop doing what God is telling us to do, we begin to slip and fall.  We can have a life full of joy and happiness and purpose and victory if we but listen to God and submit to His leading through the Holy Spirit.  Stay focused on the prize - ETERNAL LIFE with Him!

Sleep well my friends and enjoy your day tomorrow.  I look forward to seeing all of you tomorrow night as we celebrate our last GEMS of the season together!

Love and Prayers,

Monday, May 23rd - Luke 18:1-17

Hey there GEMS!

What a day!  I have been watching the news and getting reports from FaceBook and other sources on the Joplin, MO tornado recovery efforts.  Over 116 dead!  Catastrophic devastation!  I have been moved by the assistance of our Christian brothers and sisters that have helped in the midst of their losses as well.  Ozark Christian College has opened it's campus to FEMA and the Red Cross and they are both head-quartered there!  They have provided updates for families.  Churches are providing places to stay for people displaced.  Christians everywhere are praying!  They are being persistent in prayer!  God is hearing and He is answering!

There are three distinct, yet similar parables in our passage tonight.  The first is the persistent widow -  she kept asking the judge to give her justice and finally the judge granted it so that she would leave him alone. The widow was persistent and she never gave up!!
The second is the story of the Pharisee and the tax collector.  The Pharisee is one that wants to be noticed and be talked about in a big way.  The tax collector goes a distance and prays for forgiveness, "God have mercy on me a sinner!"
The third one is talking about little children being brought to Jesus and how Jesus says, "Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them..."  The innocence of a child - they do not know the meaning of "you can't ...."  They are persistent and do not give up!  They will find a way!

Let us be persistent in prayer!  Let us be as little children and come before the Throne!    Pray in prayer!!  Don't give up!!! Perseverance!!

Love y'all!

Sunday, May 22nd - John 9:1-33

Good Evening!

I hope and pray you have all had a wonderful Lord's Day!  As for me, I have had a great day and a wonderful weekend!  The weather was wonderful and even with the storms this afternoon, I saw God's handiwork!  The lightening was intense and beautiful at the same time.  This coming from a person that isn't real fond of storms.

Our passage today in John talks about Jesus healing the blind man.  It talks about being about the work that God the Father sent Jesus to do.  He is the Light of the World!!
Did you notice that the blind man participated in his healing?  Jesus placed the mud on his eyes and then told him to go and wash in the pool of Siloam.  The blind man was immediately obedient and went and washed and went away seeing!
The healing was then investigated and throughout the questioning the blind man repeated the truth, "...one thing I know, I was blind, but now I see!"  He stuck to the facts and remained persistent in that he had been healed and now he could see!

Let us always look to the truth and not try and make something wrong out of something good!  God still heals today.  He continues to accept those that are unlovely, broken, sinners, etc.  He continues to love and cherish and call the "surely nots" and make them "so thens".  For those of you that didn't get to hear Mike's sermon today, take a look at Acts 11: 1-18.  Pay particular attention to verse 8 where he writes, "Surely not" and again in verse 18 where it is written, "So then, God has even granted the Gentiles repentance unto life."

I love y'all and wish you a good evening and a good night's rest!

Blessings!

Saturday, May 21st - 1 Kings 17-18

Good Evening GEMS:

What a beautiful day - NO rain and plenty of sunshine!  It was fantastic!

As I read our passage for today, I noticed there was no rain there either until Elijah commanded through God!  Quite interesting things happened in his life - drank from a brook, fed by ravens, met a widow that prepared a cake for him and then her flour never ran out and her oil jar was never empty, and then the prophets of Baal.  All true stories about our hero, Elijah!

Elijah not only received his "missions" from God, but he constantly prayed in prayer.  May I be so dedicated and challenged and always Pray in Prayer!

See ya tomorrow!
Blessings!

Friday, May 20th - Proverbs 15:8.29

Good Evening GEMS:

Wasn't today just gorgeous?  This picture was taken this morning just outside of Normal by one of my High School buddies.  I love sunrises!  What time of day do you think it will be when Christ returns?
I heard something on the radio this afternoon that caused me to think again about a quote from Lee Strobel:  If God TODAY answered every prayer you prayed LAST WEEK, would there be anyone new in the Kingdom of God?

Our two verses of scripture today are straight and to the point.  Psalm 15:8,29  "The Lord detests the sacrifice of the wicked, but the prayer of the upright pleases Him." and "The Lord is far from the wicked, but He hears the prayer of the righteous."
Wow!  Our prayers are important and He hears them!  Every single one!!  Do you pray for the lost?  Do you pray for your friends that don't know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior?  We are to "Pray without ceasing!"  We are to pray about everything - small and big - little and large - Physical needs; emotional needs, spiritual needs, etc.

We need to share and we need to pray!  Pray in Prayer!!!  Go before the Father and pour your heart out to Him.  He will hear you and He will answer!

I love y'all!

Thursday, May 19th - Psalm 34:15-22

Good Evening GEMS!

Did you enjoy the beautiful day today?  Sunshine - a slight breeze - a little warmer temperatures - and did you notice all the smiles?  It is amazing to me the number of smiles you see on sunny days and the number of "Good Morning!"; "Have a good day!"; "It's a great day!" phrases you hear as you walk through the halls at work or school or wherever.

Don't we as Christians have the "SONshine" everyday?  Do we let it shine?  Do we cry out to the Creator of this light?   Our passage of Scripture today says that the Lord's ears are attentive to the crys of the righteous.  He delivers us from all our troubles!  We are the righteous!  We are His children!  We are Heirs to the Throne!  We will live eternally with Him!

If you are not walking in righteousness, please call someone and confess to another sister or friend.  Confess - pray and move forward in your walk with the Lord!

I love y'all!  I am here for you and the Leadership is here for you!  Drop us a note if you need to talk or need specific prayer.

In His Service!

Wednesday, May 18th - 1 John 5:14,15 and Mark 11:22-25

Good Evening!

Another day is coming to an end and I had the privilege to spend some time this evening with my Small Group.  We were few in number tonight, but the fellowship and sharing from His Word was awesome.  Just what I needed. God is good all the time! All the time God is good!!

Our first passage tonight is pretty awesome.  1 John 5:14-15  "...if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us....we know that we have what we asked of Him."
As Lisa said, we pray according to His Will.  We need to pray with a solid faith!  Pray believing!  Pray in prayer!!!
Our second passage is very similar.  Mark 11:22-25  "Therefore, I tell you whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours."  Do you see the similarities?  His will! - Faith! - ask! - believe! - persevere! - forgive!  Pray!

It is so easy to fall into our own thinking and not accept God's timing (an sometimes His sense of humor).  Just remember, His timing is perfect and He always shows up right on time.  His answers may differ from ours, but He is faithful to answer.  Be on the lookout for His answers.

Love y'all!

Tuesday, May 17th - Acts 3:1-16

Good Afternoon!

What a beautiful afternoon!  I just got home from work and really want to go do something, but can't decide and so I thought I would spend some time with the Lord and with y'all!

♫♪♫♪Peter and John went to pray; they met a lame man on their way; ♫♪♫♪
♫♪♫♪ He stuck out his palm and asked for an alm and this is what Peter did say: ♫♪♫♪
♫♪♫♪ Silver and gold have I none, but such as I have give I thee! ♫♪♫♪
♫♪♫♪ In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk! ♫♪♫♪
                   He went walking and leaping and praising God;
Walking and leaping and praising God!
♫♪♫♪ In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk! ♫♪♫♪

This story in our Scripture passage today is what inspired the song above that I sang growing up in Sunday School and at camp!  There were motions and dancing and it was so much fun!

Can you imagine how that beggar felt that day?  Here he had asked for a handout and ended up with a foot up!  :o)  It says that he went with Peter and John to the temple and was walking and jumping and praising God.  Those that saw him were filled with wonder and amazement.  Wow!  Then Peter began to speak. "....you killed the author of life, but God raised Him from the dead.  We are witnesses of this.  By faith in the name of Jesus this man whom you see and know was made strong.....complete healing to him as you can all see."

The name of Jesus!  It is powerful!  Faith in the name of Jesus provides complete healing!  And think, we can approach His Throne with confidence and call on the name of Jesus for help, for strength, for guidance, for wisdom, for love and so much more!

Have a great evening!  Love y'all!

Monday, May 16th - Colossians 3:15-17

Good Evening GEMS!

What a beautiful day we had!  The sunshine was great and the temperatures were a little cool, but nice!  I enjoyed the day and hope you did too!

Our passage today happens to be one of my all time favorites!  I have used this passage as the basis for several "sermons" and studies. There is so much packed into these three verses.

"Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him." Col. 3:15-17

One of the first words we read is "Let" and it is used twice in this passage. Let or allow the peace of Christ rule and Let or allow the word of Christ dwell.  Did you notice that both of these refer to inhabit or rule?  With Christ living in us through the holy Spirit, we can accomplish anything and always want to give Him the glory and praise due Him.
Members of one body - that means we need to function as one - which requires listening to each other and a lot of give and take.  Lean on Him and allow Him to work in you!  Worship together and teach each other!  Worship through songs and hymns, but also don't forget the teaching and doing everything with thanksgiving!
Whether in word or deed - do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus!  This takes me back to the fact that God is concerned and cares about every facet of our lives - big and/or small!  He Cares!
Be thankful - with gratitude - giving thanks!  Do you see a pattern?  We allow Him to have control and we will be thanking Him for His goodness, His love, and His sacrifice - our promise of eternal life!

I hope you have a great day tomorrow and remember that I am praying for you and the prayer Team and the Leadership Team are all praying!  Keep your focus - on Jesus!  He loves you and He cares!

Love y'all!

Sunday, May 15th - Psalm 105:1-5

Good Evening GEMS:

What a day!  It has sure been rainy and dreary outside, but what about inside?  Has the SON shone through?  Joel Craig did a great job at church this morning with the sermon!  How did you spend the rest of the day?  I pray that the start to a new week has been a good one!

Our passage of scripture tonight is amazing!  Psalm 105 is a psalm of praise.  Verse 1:  "Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name; make known among the nations what He has done."  A call to thanks and a call to Missions!  Share the message wherever you go - to the Nations!  Something that is near and dear to my heart - Missions!  As you pray each day this week, remember Bethany, one of our own that is leaving for the Mission Field in just a few weeks.
Verse 2:  "Sing to Him, sing praise to Him; tell of all His wonderful acts."  It doesn't matter if you can sing or not - share your story of what the Lord has done for you!  How has knowing Jesus changed your life?  Share what GEMS means to you!  Share and 'sing' praise to Him before others!
Verse 3:  "Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice."  Sit at His feet daily and seek His face!  Rejoice before Him and know that we have the freedom to approach Him whenever we desire.  Pray without ceasing!  Pray in prayer!  Rejoice!!
Verse 4:  "Look to the Lord and His strength; seek His face always."  He wants to help us along this path called life!  He gives us the strength that we need.  He is concerned about the small things as well as the large things!  Seek His face!  Know that He is God!  Know that He is all powerful!  Look to Him for help!  Give thanks for His strength and His protection and His provision for every detail of our lives!
Verse 5:  Remember the wonders He has done, His miracles, and the judgements He pronounced."  He created this world and His Hand can be seen in every day, week, month, year, millennium; past, present and even the future.  We have read the end of the book and we know that HE is RETURNING to take us HOME!!!  Maranatha!!!  Come Lord Jesus!!

Thank you Lord for my many blessings!  I love You!

Saturday, May 14th - Psalm 118

Good Evening GEMS!

Today was awesome!  I was able to attend the Single Mom's Morning Out at E-Free and I saw lots of you there!  It was a great morning and I left feeling refreshed, appreciated and blessed!

I love our scripture passage for today.  Psalm 118:1-3 Praise to the Lord and the repeated phrase: "His love endures forever."  Psalm 118:5 - I cried to the Lord....set me free!  Psalm 118:6-14 The Lord is with me....He is my helper... triumph...refuge...."by the name of the Lord" is the repeated phrase, but constant reference to the Lord's strength, help, triumph and refuge.  I think verse 5 and verse 14 are closely related:  "...I cried to the Lord and He answered by setting me free." and "The Lord is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation."  Our salvation makes us free!!  Salvation is mentioned again in verse 21.
Verses 15 through to 29 there is more praise and in verse 29 the end is as the beginning:  "His love endures forever".  Look at the following verses: verse 22; verse 24; verse26; verse 27; and verse 29 - Do you hear the music?  Can you sing these verses in praise to our Lord and Savior and our Creator?  Praise Him with your voice as you read His Word!
♫♪♫♪♫♪ This is the day; This is the day, that the Lord has made, that the Lord has made!!♫♪♫♪♫♪
♫♪♫♪ I will rejoice, I will rejoice and be glad in it; and be glad in it!♫♪♫♪ This is the day that the Lord has made!♫♪♫♪♫♪ I will rejoice and be glad in it!♫♪♫♪♫♪ This is the day; this is the day that the Lord has made!!♫♪♫♪♫♪

"You are my God, and I will give You thanks;  You are my God, and I will exalt You."  Psalm 118:28

See y'all tomorrow as we Praise and Worship our King, our Lord and Savior!  Sleep well!  God Bless!

Friday, May 13th - Psalm 91

Good evening GEMS!

I hope you had a good day today.  It's Friday and the weekend has begun!  Yeah!  As I sit here and listen to the rain outside and listening for the pitter patter of little feet, I am amazed!

"I will say to the Lord, 'He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust.'  Do you really trust God?  I wish I could answer 100% of the time, but i can't.  It says in verse 14, "I will rescue him; I will protect him...I will be with him in trouble....deliver...honor...satisfy him....show him my salvation!"

I hope to see many of you tomorrow at E-Free to enjoy the Single mom's Morning Out (SMMO)!  It is going to be a great day!  I can't wait to see everyone.

Thursday, May 12th - Psalm 18:1-6

Hey!  Another beautiful day we enjoyed today.  Isn't God's creation awesome?  Did you see the sunrise this morning?  Wow!  What do you think of these?
I don't know that either of these pictures has a lot to do with tonight's scripture, but I thought of them as i watched the sun rise this morning.  As I knelt in His presence, I was in awe of His beauty.  What a picture He paints for us each and every day.

You know as you read the passage for tonight, I am struck with "dependence."  "I love you, O Lord, my strength.  The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge...my shield....horn of my salvation, my stronghold....I call to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies....He heard my voice; my cry came before Him, into His ears."  Psalm 18:1-6
What an amazing scripture.  I am dependent on Him!  He is my Rock, my Fortress, my Deliverer, my refuge, my shield, my stronghold and I am saved through Him!  I cannot live without Jesus in my life along with the Holy Spirit!  I trust Him!

Let's take a moment to pray in prayer!  Remember P-Praise R-Repent  A Ask  Y-Yield
Enjoy your evening!

Wednesday, May 11, 2011 - Matthew 5:33-37

Hey GEMS!

What an awesome night we had together tonight!  Nicki's Favorite things - Ms Pearl's audition video for ABC Extreme Home Makeover (don't forget to pray in prayer for this!) - the worship time with the worship team and then the lesson from Lisa!  Whew!  I am pumped!  I am high on Jesus!  I am flyin' with the Spirit!

"Simply let your 'Yes' be 'Yes', and your 'No' be 'No'; ......vs 37a

We don't need to swear by anything, but simply tell the truth and answer with yes or no!  In today's world, every other person feels like they have to swear an oath because there is no integrity or trust or truth.  If we live the life that He has called us to live, we will be above reproach and have the integrity that we need to be able to say 'Yes' or 'No" and mean it!

I hope you have a great Thursday!  I will talk to you again tomorrow night!
Love y'all!     Cheri Lynn

Tuesday, May 10th - Hebrews 10:35-37

Hey GEMS,

It seems like forever since I have been with y'all!  I can't wait until tomorrow night!  :o)

Our passage tonight is short and yet so deep!  "Do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.  You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God; you will receive what He has promised.  For in just a very little while, 'He who is coming will come and will not delay."
In Christ we have CONFIDENCE and can walk tall and know that HE is with us every step of the way - the narrow way!  We PERSEVERE and look to the prize, our REWARD at the end of a great race.  We strive toward that goal and we RECEIVE His PROMISE - ETERNAL LIFE!!
This was written long ago and they were looking for the return of the Savior, just as we are today!  That time will God the Father will look at God the Son and say, "Jesus, Son, it is time - Go and get Your bride, the Church - bring them HOME!!"  MARANATHA!!

I will see y'all tomorrow night!  I love you!

Monday, May 9th - Matthew 5:10-12

Hey GEMS!

What a gorgeous day it was today!  Tomorrow promises to be much warmer - 87 degrees!  I think we are just going to jump into summer!  Yeah!  Which do you prefer - summer or winter?  I am more of the warm weather person, but I don't like 100+ degree days!  But anyway, summer is very close!

"Our passage tonight is a tough one!  "Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven."  Matthew 5:10
Many of us will never know what true persecution is, but I have heard about it first hand.  I had a friend in Portugal that was a minister in an African country.  He was arrested several times for preaching the Word and was tortured and beaten.  He would lie on the cold floor of the prison in his own waste and even had to drink his own urine.  This happens even today!  I can remember listening to my friend's testimony and tears rolled down my face and I heard him say, "I would do it again if I had to, because I love my Jesus so much more than this world!"  He has received his prize and is now in Heaven with his Jesus that he loved so much!  I can't wait to see him again!  One day.....

Dear Lord,
May we stand firm and may we testify of Your love to all that we meet.  If we are persecuted, may we stand tall and proclaim Your Name above all others and know that we are Yours!!!  Thank you for Your guidance and Your never ending love!
In Your precious Holy name - Jesus!  Amen

Sunday, May 8th - Happy Mother's Day!!!

Happy Mother's Day GEMS!

I hope you had a great day celebrating with your families.  My day was full of surprises and was one for the memory books.  My son served me breakfast  - 2 eggs and wheat toast - in bed!  (I got the coffee at church!)  He was so very proud of himself and I was equally proud of him.  It was great!  They gave me some nice plaques and then we went to both services at Eastview and then on to a friends for lunch where I was pampered the whole afternoon.  It was great and I so enjoyed watching my kids play and climb trees and just visiting with my friend!

James 1:12 - "Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him."

We need to persevere - be patient - stand firm - int he face of struggles and trials of all kinds.  With the Holy Spirit within us, we can weather any storm!  This verse gives us continued hope and a reason to live!  We will stand with HIM in eternity!  Maranatha!!!

I can't wait!  I want to see everyone of my fellow GEMS there!  Let us "consider it pure joy when we face trials of many kinds...."

I love y'all!

Saturday, May 7th - James 1:2-4

Good Morning GEMS!

It is a beautiful morning and I am so glad to see the sunshine if just for a little while today!  It's a little brisk, but I stand in awe at HIS creation.  The beautiful sunrise He paints is amazing!

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.  Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."  James 1:2-4

It is my desire to grow and be more like Jesus and to see the world I live in through HIS eyes.  By developing perseverance I am working on a step to continue that process.  I don't think that the joy that is referenced in verse 2 is the laugh out loud happiness.  It is that joy that is deep inside, that personal relationship with our Lord and Savior and the "joy" and assurance we have in eternal life - serving HIM with all that we are.  I look at it more as an excitement and challenge to develop and mature in my walk with Jesus.
It is hard and I know there are many times that I fail, but I keep trying.  As Lisa said, We can be patient in suffering - it is a choice!

I hope that you have a wonderful weekend and enjoy your Mother's Day!  Remember, it is a choice!  Choose to persevere!

Love y'all!

Friday, May 6th - Matthew 7:1-5

Hey GEMS!

First of all I want to wish Jenny Hall a happy birthday.  Hope you had a great day Jenny!  Welcome to the club!  :o)  It is great!!!!

Pretty straight forward verses tonight.  Do not judge - anything!  Isn't it easy to judge things?  The way people dress; the accent they have; the people that hang out together; and stereo-types!  We have all done it and Jesus says DON'T!!  Pretty straight forward command.  Will you listen?  I am!

I had the opportunity today to participate in the Chick--A Leadercast that was simulcast to 2nd Presbyterian in downtown Bloomington.  It was a great day!  There were lots of "Leaders" that spoke and/or were interviewed.  The CEO of Chick-fil-A was there, the CEO of Coca-Cola, John Maxwell and Dave Ramsey.  A lot of the speakers mentioned God and having faith in Jesus and talking about praying!  Wow!  There were alot of people in attendance (almost 300) and yet God's name was mentioned several times!

We were not judged today, but we are at times.  "They must be Christians because they just prayed before they ate!"  Let us not judge one another - lest we be judged!!!

Have a great Saturday everyone and Happy Early Mother's Day!
Love y'all!

Thursday, May 5th - Romans 2:1-11

Hey there GEMS!  Happy Cinco de Maio!

Hope you have all had a great day!  At least the rain held off until this evening!  I went deer watching tonight and we saw 6 deer and they were beautiful!  I just love to watch them run!

Pretty heavy passage tonight.  Lisa summed it up pretty well with her thoughts:  "We cannot judge others.  This passage clearly states that we sin when we judge others.  God wants us to desire to do good things - not sit in judgement of others."

I really like verses 7, 10 and 11.  My memory verse for this passage is verse 11:  "God does not show favoritism!"

Have a great Friday everyone!  Love y'all!
