Sunday, July 31st - Psalm 68

Good Morning!

What a beautiful morning!  Praise to God the Father for His many blessings!  I hope to see many of you this morning as we go to church and worship!  Hallelujah!  He is worthy of our praise!  Let us worship Him!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 68:Vs 5 is a GREAT one for GEMS and Lil' GEMS!  Praise Him that He gives us help to live this life and the assurance of life eternal -19.

I love verse 4:  "Sing to God, sing praise to his name, extol him who rides on the clouds--his name is the Lord-- and rejoice before him."  Do you see the majestic picture?  I love it!  Then we have the verse for us GEMS - "A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling."  It says He puts the lonely in families - we are a family - GEMS.  We have our church family and we are loved!  :o)

I love verse 19 and 20: "Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens.  Our God is a God who saves; from the Sovereign Lord comes escape from death."  Hallelujah!!  Jesus came to save and we have the hope of eternal life!  We will be in heaven and praising Him forever!!
The last four verses of this psalm are praise as well and you can see the picture of our Mighty God and His Majesty!  We serve an awesome God!

Have a great day as you praise Him for His love and grace!  God is good ALL the time - ALL the time God is good!

Saturday, July 30th - Psalm 67

Good Morning!

I wasn't real sure if I was going to be able to blog this morning as I am at Little Galilee Camp on a mini retreat with the Eastview Missions Team.  I brought my Mom's aircard and I am set!  :o)
We got down here about 6:30 last evening and had supper and then spent the whole evening getting to know each other through an ice-breaker called "Me in 3".  It was great!  There was laughter and tears and just a great time!  We had ice cream sundaes and stayed up late just talking.  Lots of memories at this camp from my younger years!  We had an awesome prayer time last night too!  I am really looking forward to today!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 67: God is the God of ALL. God will not harm His people.  Those who resist Him choose to stay outside His just covering-4.  Pray for them.

I can hear the music or tune of the praise song from verse 1 and 2.  Actually, the whole Psalm is a song that we can sing to Him.  I actually prayed these verses this morning as I sat here in the quiet.
It is interesting to me that as I sit here with the Missions Team discussing the nations and our part of the Great Commission - that this psalm discusses the praise that needs to come from His people.  Nine or ten times the psalmist references "the earth", "the peoples" and "all nations".  Verse 2 has our marching orders: "may your ways be known on earth, your salvation among the nations."  Share the Good News!

Let's praise Him as we go throughout our day!  Thank Him for all His blessings, but pray for those that do not know Him and the opportunities we have to share His promises and plan of Salvation!

Love and prayers to all!

Friday, July 29th - Psalm 66

Good Morning!

It's Friday!  I don't know about you, but I have a busy day, but it couldn't start any better than spending time with the Lord and writing to all of you!  God is so good!  Or as it says in the Psalm we are reading today, HE is awesome, as are His deeds and His works.

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 66: It breaks my heart that 'all the earth' does NOT shout with joy to God. Lord, show us how to spread your Kingdom. Live out v 16-20!

Do you know that the word praise is used seven times in these twenty verses?  Praise is at the heart of what we give to Him and what He desires!  We sing His praise to Him, but most of all to those who do not know!  As it says in verse 16, "Come and Listen...let me tell you what He has done for me."  Sharing the Gospel through personal testimony and praise of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit!  It doesn't get any better than that. :o)

Verses 1 through 4 are a prayer of praise and thanksgiving.  Shout with joy...offer him glory and praise...say to God, "How awesome are your deeds!"...great is your power...sing praise to you...sing praise to your name.  "All the earth bows down to you"...This will happen when God sends His Son to take us Home ... Every knee will bow-Every tongue will confess - that Jesus Christ is Lord!!
This Psalm is full of praise, history facts, admiration, challenges, and promises.  HE cares for us and watches over us!  HE protects us and brings us through life's trials.

As Lisa tweeted, let's live out verses 16 through 20.  Let's share our faith and the great things that God has done in us and for us with those who do not know!  Share your testimony!

Love and prayers,
Cheri Lynn

Thursday, July 28th - Psalm 65

Good Morning!

Lisa's tweet:LMRMinistries: Psalm 65: Ever feel unworthy of God's forgiveness? V 3 - God knows us so well He created a plan for how to be in harmony with us. God's grace.

There are times when I feel so very small and wonder how God can see me and love me for who I am?  I am filthy, a sinner and yet He wraps His arms around me and says, "I love you!"  He cares about each of His children and He longs to hear them say, "I love you Father God!"

So many times I hear people say, "When I get my act together and I'm doing things right, I will accept Jesus and be baptized and live as a Christian...."  Have you not heard?  He stands with open arms and accepts you just the way you are - a sinner, filthy and broken!  He washes us white as snow and we are a new creation in Him!  He doesn't want to wait until you "clean-up" as He is waiting now!  He works with you to help you "clean-up" and to change!

As you read this Psalm in verse 2 and 3, we see that God had a plan - He sent His Son to die and shed His blood for our sins, so that in His resurrection, we have the hope of eternal life with Him!  God cares and loves His children.  He cares for His creation too!  If He takes care of the smallest creature, how much more does He care for us?  He walks daily with us and we can lean on Him!

Praise Him today for His many blessings!  Thank Him for His provision and His love!

Love and prayers,
Cheri Lynn

Wednesday, July 27th - Psalm 64

Good morning!

I am a little later today as I couldn't get to my computer early this morning as my parents were sleeping.  It is great to have them here!  The kids love it!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 64: "Hide me" (2). That really struck me as an interesting prayer - to ask God to hide me from those who want to cause me harm.

As I read the Psalm and I read Lisa's tweet, I thought of times when i would have had the same prayer.  Times when I just didn't have the strength to fight or face those who were/are against me.  Times when I was spiritually weak and just wanted to run and hide behind Him.

Did you notice the reference to the tongue throughout this Psalm?  I kept thinking of our study in James and how destructive the tongue can be and yet an instrument of praise and encouragement as well.

Verse 10 is encouraging and requires action: "Let the righteous rejoice in the Lord and take refuge in him; let all the upright in heart praise him!"  We CAN take refuge in God and "hide" in Him.  He loves us and will provide all that we need.  We in turn want to praise Him for His blessings upon us!

Let's remember to praise Him today for all His goodness and His protection of us!  God is good all the time - all the time God is good!

Have a great day everyone!
Love and prayers,
Cheri Lynn

Tuesday, July 26th - Psalm 63

Good Morning!

I am excited today as my folks are coming and my Mom is staying for awhile to help me with Nathaniel since his camp is done.  It is so nice to have her here with us.  Dad will go back and preach in Missouri and then come back and get Mom in a couple weeks!  :o)  The house is clean and the groceries bought and I think we are ready!  :o)

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 63: If you seek Him, you will find the One who makes you feel full and satisfied no matter what your circumstances.

Isn't it amazing how many praise songs we sing today are directly from the "praise psalms"? :o) I read this psalm and immediately pictured God and His greatness sitting on His throne, high and lifted up!  I saw myself lying before Him, face down and singing at the top of my lungs, Worthy, worthy are You, O God!

If you look in verse 1, the psalmist says, "You are my God, earnestly I seek you!"  That word earnestly doesn't mean a casual look, but is intense or sincere.  The dictionary defines earnestly as: "marked by or showing deep sincerity or seriousness; an earnest gesture of goodwill; of an important or weighty nature; grave."  Is that how we seek God?  The psalmist continues in that same verse to say that he thirsts for God and his body longs for Him.  Is that how I or we feel when we enter into His presence?  Wow!  That is what I want!

"...and beheld your power and your glory, Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you..  I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands."  vs 2-4  Such a beautiful word picture!  I love the statement: "your love is better than life".  His love has given us life - eternal life!  What greater love is there?  None - this is it!  God's love!!  I WILL praise Him for as long as I live and lift my hands in adoration and praise to Him!  Will you?

Have a great day!  Stop and praise God for His many blessings today!
Love and prayers,
Cheri Lynn

Monday, July 25th - Psalm 62

Good Monday Morning!

I had an awesome day yesterday despite the rain.  How about you?  Actually, I was very thankful for the rain and the cooler temps.  We needed both!  I made the comment on the bus as we rode to the church, "Well, I am soaking wet again, but at least it smells better!" :o)  With the heat, I felt like I lived in wet sweaty clothes!
Enough of that, let's get to our scripture reading for today!  Psalm 62!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 62: God is our salvation-for our eternal soul/life, and for this life as He saves us from our trials by being our rock through it all.

David starts off with a very strong statement:  "My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken." vs 1 and 2
The psalmist knew exactly what he believed and where to turn in times of trouble, in sadness, and in joy.  He knew God would take care of him and that he was loved.  He repeats the above in verses 5 and 6, but uses the word hope instead of salvation.  He goes on to share his message in verses 7 and 8 - "My Salvation and my honor depend on God, He is my mighty rock, my refuge.  Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge."
Trust in Him at ALL times and pour out your hearts to Him!  Wow!  Talk about speaking directly to us today - we are to fully trust in Him to lead and guide us through this earthly journey and we can pour out our hearts to Him through prayer - anytime and anywhere!  Awesome!!

"Father God, I praise You for who You are and thank you for the many blessings that have been given.  You continue to provide and take care of us, even when it is difficult (at times) for us to acknowledge Your love for us.  Help me to always trust and lean upon You!  You are my Hope and my Salvation and I love You!  May Jesus shine through me today!  In Jesus Name I pray! Amen!"

Have a great day everyone!
Love and prayers,
Cheri Lynn

Sunday, July 24 - Psalm 61

Good Morning!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 61: As life 'happens', we will feel 'faint'...then what do we do? Calling out to God is a choice (2).  I prayed Vs 7 over myself today.

The psalmist was in continuous communication with God!  He lived for Him and praised Him and took refuge in Him.  That is the way our relationship is to be - constant communication!  In our prayer time we share our innermost thoughts and seek His guidance for the day, the week, the year.  Let Him lead the way!  He is not only interested in the tough times which He will carry you through, but He loves to walk day by day with you!

I would challenge you this week to take a little longer time with your quiet time at least once.  Maybe go to a different place and really have a conversation with Him.  Start by just sitting and preparing yourself to enter His presence - praising Him for who He is, for what He has done and singing praises to Him.  Dive into His word and read asking for understanding.  Spend some time in prayer and be sure to have some time to just sit and be still and know that HE is God!  Be open to His leading!  Remember, He wants the very best for you!

Have a beautiful day and a great week!  We are praying for you!
Love y'all!

Saturday, July 23rd - Psalm 59 and 60

Good Morning!
Well, I am a little confused, but will go with the flow!  :o)  I received two tweets yesterday (Psalm 58 and 59) and received another one this morning - Psalm 60.  I am not sure if it was a technology error or mine, but I am going to do two Psalms today so that we are caught up with Lisa's tweets.  :o)

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 59: Ugly words cut like a sword - 7. Because God sees all, He gives justice to all - 11-13. It's not possible to be "satisfied" w/o God - 15.

The psalmist continues to write about his enemies and living in a world of evil.  His descriptions continue to be very vivid.  He continues to live his life for God and looks to God for strength and peace. In verse 9 and repeated again in 17 he writes: "O my Strength, I watch for you; you, O God, are my fortress, my loving God."  David continues to praise God in the tough times as well as the good times.
We as the Church need to stand firm and rest in the strength of God.  We need to praise Him in the bad and the good times.  He is our refuge, our fortress!  Verse 16: "I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble."  Look to Him and HE will bring us through the troubled times!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 60: God can be PERFECTLY angry with us if we do not live by His ways.  There's no guess work about how to please him - He wrote it down :o).

Doesn't this sound just like a parent?  We get a little "angry" when our kids don't do as they are told and in turn discipline them.  They know what to do and how to act as we have taught them, but they "forget" and do the wrong thing and receive the discipline for their actions.
We are the children of God! He is our heavenly Father and the ultimate role model of a parent!  As we continue to grow in our spiritual lives, He disciplines us and gives us encouragement to continue on and learn from our mistakes.  A daily quiet time spent with Him is essential for our spiritual well being.  Spending time in His Word and conversation with Him through prayer is key!  We will grow and look to the prize at the end of our journey - ETERNAL LIFE!
Verse 12: "With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies."  We have read the last chapter - We WIN!!  We have the victory!  "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son; that whosoever believes in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life!" John 3:16

Throughout the time I have been reading and writing these thoughts this morning, I have had two songs going through my head.  I think you have probably heard them and as we finish today, sing them and really internalize their simple words!

Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to Him belong, they are weak, but HE is strong.
Yes, Jesus loves me; Yes, Jesus loves me;
Yes, Jesus loves me - the Bible tells me so!

Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world
Red and yellow, black and white - they are precious in His sight
Jesus loves the little children of the world!

HE loves us!
Have a wonderful Saturday!

Friday, July 22nd - Psalm 58

Good Morning!

It's Friday!!!!  I am so glad we have made it through the week!  I was and am so very blessed!  I stand in awe of God's provision and love and care!  He is awesome!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 58: Sounds like David wants his Dad to go beat some people for him. :o)  We want justice NOW; God views justice through an eternity filter.

I think David was tired of living with the evil all around him and called on the Father to take it away or at least punish those guilty of it.  The imagery in this psalm is amazing.  If you think about it very long, you can almost see the snake with it's fangs and ready to strike; toothless snarls; lions; and a melting slug!  Ugh!
Is our world any better today?  I pray daily for the protection of my children; that I might be able to share with just one more person about Jesus and His saving grace; and for all of us to be attentive to His voice and accomplish all that HE has for us to do.

I pray today that I might have a little glimpse of the world through God's eternity filter.  I rely completely on Him and know that He will walk with me every step of the day!

Have a great Friday everyone!
Love and prayers!

Thursday, July 21st - Psalm 57

Good Morning!
It looks like we are going to enjoy another hot day!  It was definitely hot yesterday and hard to breathe, but I am blessed!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 57: Faithfulness-an amazing attribute of God's.  He's always faithful and doesn't wait for us to be faithful before demonstrating His.

"Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth. (vs 5)  My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music.  Awake, my soul!  Awake, harp and lyre!  I will awaken the dawn.  I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples.  For great is your love, reaching to the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies.  Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth." (vs 7-11)

Wow!  This is my song this morning as I greet the day!  HE is my refuge and in Him I find peace!  He is worthy of my praise and so much more.  HE IS Faithful!  There is none like Him.

Loving missions like I do, I especially like verse 9 where the psalmist writes: I will praise you among the nations.  I like to think that means the world!  Let us shout it from the mountain tops and through the valleys and across the oceans - Jesus Christ is Lord!!

God is good ALL the time and ALL the time God IS good!

Have a wonderful day!
Love and prayers,
Cheri Lynn

Wednesday, July 20th - Psalm 56

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 56:We will feel fear, then we have to choose to trust God (3). Know His Word well; replace the fear with His biblical promises (4).

The verses that Lisa refers to in her tweet are repeated again in verses 10 and 11.  It is important!  "When I am afraid, I will trust in you.  In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid." vs: 3,4
As we talked yesterday, with our trust in God - He is all we need.  We can trust Him with everything - when we are afraid, when we hurt, when we are sad, when we are happy and when we are walking through each day!  God is with us every step of the way, through His Holy Spirit.
Remember a few days ago I wrote about singing the Scripture to God?  That is the picture I get in my head when i read the beginning of verse 4: "In God, whose word I praise".  Praising the Word of God - singing it, memorizing it, knowing it, living it!  It may be hard at first to memorize a verse of scripture, but I know you can do it!  Sing it over and over.  Start small and write it down several times, put it around your house and in your car and read it, sing it, think it and it will become a part of you.  You have it memorized!

I said that these two verses are repeated in verses 10 and 11, but there are a couple differences.  First of all it is really verse 4 that is repeated.  In verse 9 the psalmist reiterates his trust in God by writing that when he calls for help he knows that God is for him - trust in God.  Then verse 10 and 11: "In God, whose word I praise, in the Lord, whose word I praise--in God I trust, I will not be afraid."
The psalmist gives God praise for all his blessings, as is right.  With trust/faith in God and praising His Word, there can be no fear!  Faith has banished fear!  God is for us!  He cares for us and will carry us through the tough times and fearful times, if we but ask.

Lean on Him and He will carry you through!

Have a great day and know that you are being prayed for today and every day!  :o)

Tuesday, July 19th - Psalm 55

Good Morning!

Another beautiful, hot day in store for us today!  Have you noticed that the sun isn't rising quite as early?  Shorter days!  The summer is just flying!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 55: Betrayal hurts deeply. Issues in our lives drive us to God as we convert worry/pain to prayer (17). We trust God - He is all we need.

As I read this morning's psalm, I almost felt like I was reading a newspaper of today.  As the psalmist talked about the violence and strife in the city and the malice and abuse within it, (9,10) I began to see pictures in my head of things that have happened in the last few weeks.  I too, wanted to fly away and seek shelter from the evil!  Run to God and renew my strength to fight the battle once again.

I am sure all of us have experienced betrayal at one time or another and it hurts!  It is one of those feelings of pain that you can't explain and you wonder why?  Seek His Face in prayer!  "Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous fall." (vs. 22)
God has us in the palm of His hand and He will protect and sustain us through anything that comes our way.  HE is all we need!!

"But as for me, I trust in You." (vs 23b) Trust in God!

Have a great day!

Love and prayers,
Cheri Lynn

Monday, July 18th - Psalm 54

Good Monday Morning!

Lisa's Tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 54: No matter what, God is my help (4). Either He affects change in my circumstances or He changes my heart to accept what is.

This is a fairly short psalm, but packed with so much truth as Lisa indicated in her tweet.  In verse 2 we see the psalmist ask for God to hear his prayer and then in verse 4 he acknowledges that God is his source of help and the One that gives him strength to carry on - sustains him.  God is always listening for us and longs to have that personal relationship with each of us.
God has our best interest in mind and He guides us daily toward the final goal - when we will have no more troubles or heartaches, etc.  We will praise Him forever and ever!

I repeat verse 6b and say, "I will praise Your name, O Lord, for it is good."

Have a great day and stay cool!  We had a great start to the week yesterday and may it continue in each of you!  Remember, you may be the only "Jesus" someone sees today!

Love and prayers,
Cheri Lynn

Sunday, July 17th - Psalm 53

Good Sunday Morning!

What a beautiful day!  The sunrise was awesome and I am so looking forward to going to church and worshipping with my church family!  :o)

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 53: If there is no God, there is no reason to live by His ways which = chaos (1,3,4). With God there is nothing to dread (5).

The psalmist saw the evil around him and the chaos that it brought.  He was much like us in our world today - wondering when the chaos will end?
It is hard to watch or listen to the news today and see and hear the chaos all around us from evil.

With God there is nothing to dread!  He has given us His Son and His grace and we know where we will spend eternity!  Salvation - forgiveness of sins - hope of eternal life with Him!  We will praise Him forever and there will be no more evil, because we will be HOME with our God!
We need to be sharing the Gospel with all those we meet, so they too can experience the life without chaos, but with unfailing love.

"In the beginning God...." (Genesis 1:1)  "For God so loved the world..." (John 3:16)  There is a God and He loves us!  We follow His ways and we will live with Him forever!  Hallelujah!!!

Have a wonderful day and the beginning of a great week!  Stay cool!  :o)

Love and prayers,
Cheri Lynn

Saturday, July 16th - Psalm 52

Good Evening!

What a day!  I got up early to help a friend pack and get ready to move in a couple weeks.  We wanted to get an early start before the heat was too much.  We got a lot accomplished and even did some fun things with the kids and shared a great supper with friends.  A good day!

It's been a while since I have done the devotional/reflection at night.  Kind of different!

Lisa's tweet:LMRMinistries: Psalm 52: Raw, honest pouring out of anger at an enemy (1-7). God takes care of those who do wrong, we don't have to. There is peace with God.

The psalmist paints such a clear picture of evil in mankind.  Pride, disgrace, devastation, evil, deceit, lies or falsehood, ruin and death - all describing the enemy.
The it is turned to the righteous - an olive tree flourishing, trust, His unfailing love, praise, hope and life.

Complete contrast and yet we know Who wins!  He conquered death and stands ready to receive the command to come again and get His bride, the Church, and take us HOME!  There is peace with God!

I look forward to seeing many of you tomorrow at church.  Hope you have/had a restful night!

Love and prayers,
Cheri Lynn

Friday, July 15th - Psalm 51

Good Morning!

Another beautiful day and we are reading one of my favorite Psalms today!

Psalm 51 - it is so full of  wisdom, petitions, action and love!  There have been several of its verses put to music and choruses we sing regularly.  Have you ever noticed how easy it is to memorize scripture if it is put to music?  Try singing the scripture to God in your quiet time - it is an awesome time with Him!

Lisa's tweet:LMRMinistries: Psalm 51:My fav psalm. V 6-All truth and wisdom comes from God. V10 - Our ability to live in purity and purpose is from Him. V13 is my heart

Verses 10-12 have been set to music and I love the prayer written in these words.  "Create in me a pure (clean) heart, O God, and renew a steadfast (right) spirit within me."  That is my prayer!  May I have a clean heart and a right spirit to serve my Lord and Savior - Jesus Christ!  May others that see me - see Him!!

I agree with Lisa in that verse 13 is her heart and mine.  Actually, it should be all of ours, as it is the Great Commission - Go and tell so that all may know who Jesus is and what He has done for us!
But I would add another verse that is my most heartfelt request and daily prayer - verse 15: "O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise."  In the good times, the bad times, the tough times and the excellent times - I want to praise His Name!

Re-read this psalm later today and see what the Lord speaks to you!  Sing it to Him!  He loves to hear you sing His Word!

Have a wonderful Friday!
Love and prayers,
Cheri Lynn

Thursday, July 14th - Psalm 50

Good Morning!

What a beautiful sunrise!  Isn't it awesome how God paints a different sunrise every morning?  The colors are brilliant and sometimes bold and at times rather muted, but always beautiful!

Lisa's tweet:LMRMinistries:Psalm 50:All of the earth is the Sovereign Lord's! v21:If God doesn't act against the wicked right away, it doesn't mean He isn't going to.

Everything belongs to God!  As far as you can see, "from the rising of the sun to the place where it sets"; all of the animals, "every animal of the forest is mine and the cattle on a thousand hills, I know every bird in the mountains and the creatures of the field are mine. - for the world is mine, and all that is in it."  The Creator - the Sovereign God - the Most High - Father God - the Protector - the Deliverer - the Judge - "I am God, your God!"

God welcomed the sacrifices of His children, but He did not need them.  He received and accepted them as they were done to fulfill their vows to Him.  In the Old Testament, the sacrifices were a way to "communicate" with God - in Thanksgiving, in asking for help in times of trouble, in obedience, and in atonement, to name a few.
In the New Testament and the New Covenant, Jesus came and died and rose again to provide the ultimate sacrifice of atonement - forgiveness of our sins through HIS blood, so that we might have eternal life.  We don't have to sacrifice animals today to communicate with God and ask for forgiveness.  We can enter His presence at any time through His Son Jesus Christ - prayer!  Our personal relationship with Him and our service to Him are our ways of communicating.  V7 - "I am God, your God."  In Galatians 2:16, 20 we read: "know that a man is not justified by observing the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ.   I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.  The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me."

As Lisa indicates in her tweet, the wicked will be punished in His time.  Remember, God's timing is perfect!

Have a great day everyone and know that we continue to lift you up in prayer.  We are getting very excited about the new season of GEMS in the fall.  Not long now!!!

Blessings, love and prayers!

Wednesday, July 13th - Psalm 49

Good Morning!

What a pleasant sound the rain was early this morning!  It was raining really hard and then it stopped.  Hope it cools it off just a bit or at least lowers the humidity a little.  :o)

Lisa's tweet:LMRMinistries:Psalm 49: We get so distracted by money and possessions.  Only God's salvation & wisdom last. V20-Without God, "all" you have is meaningless.

"Riches" - What is your definition?  I think the world we live in today defines that word with money, fame, property, castles, and lots of possessions and much more.  A distraction indeed!  I heard someone once say, "You know, I have never seen a coffin with a U-Haul!"  In verse 17 the psalmist tells it straight: "for he will take nothing with him when he dies..."

Back to the word "riches".  I think as Christians, we have a different definition of the word than the world.  I define riches as: family, friendships, freedom to worship, provision, salvation and the hope of eternal life - to name a few.  I am rich!!  Definitely not in the world's eyes, but in mine!

As Lisa said, only God's salvation and wisdom last!  Are you rich?  We need to share our wealth with all that we meet!  The time is now!  Share Jesus today!

Tuesday, July 12th - Psalm 48

Good Morning!

Another hot day in store for us, but I hear there is a cold front moving our way!  I would rather have the heat than the snow, so I am not complaining!

I just love our Psalm today!  Read verse 1: "Great is the Lord, and most worthy of praise, in the city of our God, his holy mountain."  This single verse has been used in countless praise hymns!  It says so much in so few words!  There is no one more worthy of praise than our God!  Praises to His Name!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 48: I couldn't get past verse 1 without having to pause and pray! Amen. Sometimes, we need to simply focus on His greatness.

What a great God we serve!  I like verse 9 as well: "Within your temple, O God, we meditate on your unfailing love."  Do we?  I am captivated by His love!  His praise is on my lips constantly!  What a privilege to serve Him!

Enjoy your day!

Monday, July 11th - Psalm 47

Good Evening!

I know I am late today, but better late than never.  Right?  I had some extinuating circumstances, one of which was coming home sick from work this afternoon.  Anyway, I wanted to share my thoughts with you on today's psalm before pillowing my head.  :o)

Lisa's tweet:LMRMinistries: Psalm 47: No matter what the nations say, no matter how things may appear - God is King over all.  It's only a matter of time until all will bow.

"Clap your hands all you people, song to God with a voice of triumph; clap your hands all you people, sing to God with a voice or praise!"  That was a chorus I grew up with in camp and still love it today.  There are so many camp choruses taken from the Psalms!  It's great!

This is a song of praise from beginning to end.  Highlight the word praise!  It is mentioned over and over.  Look at the word King - it is mentioned several times too.  The King is greatly exalted!  One day we will stand in front of the King and praise Him forever and ever!
Every knee will bow and every tongue confess - that Jesus Christ is Lord!  Hallelujah!  Amen!!

Hope y'all sleep well!  Take care!
Love and prayers!

Sunday, July 10th - Psalm 46

Good Morning!

What a beautiful day!  Yesterday was awesome and today promises to be more of the same!  I am so excited to go and worship with my home church this morning!  Vacation is nice and I had a great time with my family, but I so missed being with y'all last Sunday!

Lisa's tweet:LMRMinistries: Psalm 46: Catastrophes happen. If we focus on them, we freak out. If we focus on the truth that God is our strength, we will not sink in fear.

In the first three verses we read the theme of this psalm - God is our strength!  He is with us!  "An ever present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear."  We have read the end of the book and we know who wins!!  No matter the tsunamis, earthquakes, fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, or floods - HE is our strength and in Him we trust and have our being!  He will come and take us HOME!  He will carry us through!

I had the opportunity to work on the Catastrophe team for State Farm and saw many communities devastated by storms of all kinds.  You know what I always noticed?  God's people were always there singing His praise and sharing His message of salvation in a tangible way!  Many had lost everything themselves, but they were encouraging and praying and serving others through it all!  They had HIS strength and HIS love shining through them!

Did you read verse 10?  In the midst of it all, "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."  Our Creator, our Heavenly Father, our Comforter, our Stronghold - HE will be exalted above all else!  Be still and know He IS God!

Go and worship Him today and praise Him with your innermost being!  Kneel before Him and know that He is God!  Be refreshed in His presence and know that He is with you!  He will carry you through this week - day by day!  Lean on Him, talk to Him, share your days with Him and love Him as He loves you!

I love you guys!  Have a great day!

Saturday, July 9th - Psalm 45

Good Morning!

Lisa's tweet:LMRMinistries:Psalm 45: This is a Messianic psalm-it poetically talks about Jesus (2,6-8) and the church as His bride (13-17).  You are His-Praise Him today!

This is a beautiful psalm as it talks of the Groom - Jesus and His bride - the Church!  The imagery is beautiful and you can almost see and smell the robes and the palace (vs. 8).  It will be a beautiful day when Jesus comes to take His bride!  What a glorious day that will be!  He will be praised!

We are the Church!  We are His!  We know where we will spend eternity - with God!  We will praise Him forever and ever!
Let's practice today and praise Him for everything around you, for your many blessings and most of all, for His love!

Have a great day!

Friday, July 8th - Psalm 44

Good Morning!

I have my phone back!!  Not actually my phone, but a replacement!!  This may seem like a little thing, but I was kind of lost and out of touch without it, and so I am glad to have it back.  :o)  I even got Lisa's tweet on my phone this morning!

Lisa's tweet:LMRMinistries: Psalm 44:We always want to avoid suffering-we cry out so God will get us out of it. But, it can have a purpose-22. Continue to praise God-8.

We were created in God's image.  He created us to have companionship and a relationship - we were created to love Him!  He has taken care of us from the beginning and continues today.  As the psalmist writes in the first verses - God led their fathers to victory, He cared for them and provided for them.  He does the same today!
Yes, we want to avoid suffering, but sometimes it does help us grow in our relationship with Him!  God is my Heavenly Father and He disciplines at times just like my earthly father did.  HE wants me to grow and mature in Him and follow in His footsteps.  I long to be more like Him!

"In God we make our boast all day long, and we will praise Your name forever." vs. 8
It doesn't get any better than that - praising Him all day long and sharing His message with all those we meet.

Have a great Friday everyone and be encouraged - we are praying for you!

Thursday, July 7th - Psalm 43

Good Morning GEMS!

I will praise Him in the morning and in the afternoon; and continue through the evening and underneath the moon.  He is worthy of our praise and to Him I will sing; with joy and love in my heart to my Lord, my Savior, my King!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 43: V 3: Guidance-Studying God's truth leads us to make choices in line with His will.  His light either blesses or redirects our choices.

Reading and studying the Word of God brings so many blessings and life lessons for us!  His truth sets us free!  There is hope and strength in Him as we go through our day to day.  He cares for us!  He wants to be near you and help with everything - the small as well as the big.  He sometimes even carries us through the rough spots!

There are many times when I don't understand things happening around me and to me, but I have put my trust in Jesus and He knows my every step, my every thought, and how much I love Him.  I am still "under construction" and I long for the day that He will complete His work in me and I will go HOME and praise Him forever.
Please direct my steps today Lord!  May I make the right choices and share Your Good News with those that are in my path!  I love you Lord!

Have a great Thursday!

Wednesday, July 6th - Psalm 42

Good Morning!

We made it back home yesterday afternoon and will try to get back to a normal routine again today.  I still don't have a phone and that has been very hard, but hopefully that will change today or tomorrow.  :o)

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 42: If we focus on our problems, they become our "drink" - but we stay thirsty. Only by focusing on God do we get our "Thirst" quenched.

As I read this Psalm this morning I was taken back to my high school years when I first started playing the guitar.  This Psalm had been put to music and it was so much fun to play and sing.  It was one of my favorites and I loved what it said; "As the deer pants for water, so my soul longs for You!"

We cannot do this on our own!  Without Jesus, we will always be searching for something more and will always be disappointed.  We run to Him with everything and He listens, comforts and He cares!  In Him we are satisfied!

The psalmist prays in verse 8 "to the God of my life".  I claim that prayer and pray: "Father God, the God of my life, I long for You.  I ask that You lead my day with Your love so that I know who to approach and share with, how to handle difficult situations, how to shine for You wherever I might be.  Tonight as I pillow my head, may Your song of peace, grace, strength, comfort, and love be with me.  May I rest in You and be re-energized to go out tomorrow and share Your Gospel to those who do not know! I love You!  In Jesus' name - Amen!"

Put your hope in God for He is the One that will quench your thirst!

Have a great day and remember that we are praying for you!  We love you!

Blessings!

Tuesday, July 5th - Psalm 41

Good Morning GEMS!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 41: Even if we are sick or feel persecuted, God is mercifully always at our side.  Praise be to the Lord-from everlasting to everlasting.

This first verse talks about taking care of the weak or the poor.  I think about all the blessings we have in our lives and how sharing just a portion with those less fortunate is not very hard.  Our food pantry at Eastview is a good example of service to those in need.
God always provides and is always present!  He cares for us!

No matter the circumstances, we can praise the Lord.  He is our Deliverer!  He is merciful! We can enter His presence and praise and make our requests known.  He hears and He answers!

Praises be His - today, tomorrow and forever!

I would ask for your prayers as the kids and I travel back to Illinois today!  It  has been a great mini-vacation (even though my phone took a swim) and a good time with family!  I will talk to you tomorrow from home!  God Bless!  Have a great day!

Monday, July 4th - Psalm 40

Happy Independence Day!

I hope everyone will enjoy this holiday as we celebrate our freedom!  In church yesterday the minister was using the mini series, "John Adams" to discuss the freedom we have as a country, but even more so the freedom we have in Christ Jesus.  We have such a privilege here in the USA to be able to share freely with others the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  In Him, Jesus, we are free!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries:Psalm 40:As you wait on the Lord, think, "What great things has God done for me?" Use your American freedom to share God's love with others.

"The Lord be exalted!"  Praises to His name!  How truly blessed we are!  God has given us so much and continues to pour His blessings on us daily.  This is a Psalm of praise and of thanksgiving as you read each verse.  God hears our prayers and petitions and answers!
As we have talked before, His answers may be immediate and/or may be wait; may be yes or no, but He answers!
I was reminded of our discussion in James as I read the first verse:  "I waited patiently for the Lord..."  Patience isn't always easy, but it always pays off!  He has provided salvation - He has lifted us out of our sin, forgiven us, and given us the hope and assurance of life eternal with Him.  "He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God." vs 3
We become a new creation when we accept Him as our personal Lord and Savior and obey Him in Christian baptism - we die to the old and arise as a NEW creation, having had our sins washed away.

Look at verse 5: "Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders you have done, The things you planned for us no one can recount to you; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare."  I remember the old hymn, "Count Your Blessings name them one by one" and I cannot name every one!  HE takes care of me in every way, He is my Rock, He is my refuge, He is my strength, He is my salvation - my Savior, my Friend, my Lord!
As I read on I agree and declare with the psalmist, "Here I am...I desire to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart." vs 7,8  I will speak His name and share His Gospel wherever I may go, with whomever I come in contact with, and continue to live in Him as He lives in me!

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands.  One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all!
"God Bless America, land that I love; stand beside her and guide her, through the night with a light from above. From the mountains, to the prairies, to the oceans white with foam; God Bless America - my home sweet home."

Have a great 4th of July!  Enjoy the freedom that we have in this great country! Remember the freedom that we have in Christ!  Count your blessings and share them with others!

Love and prayers,
Cheri Lynn

Sunday, July 3rd - Psalm 39

Good Morning GEMS,

Well, this morning is a little different in that I didn't receive Lisa's tweet on my phone!  My Blackberry decided to take a swim in the Lake yesterday and so I am without my phone!  Talk about being lost!  :o(  I will have to get it replaced when I get back home, but it is tough as I realize how much I have come to depend on it!  Maybe this is a good thing?

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 39: It's really unspiritual to complain about your life, right? No, but it does matter to WHOM you complain. Go to God and Godly people.

Our conversation last night around the supper table kind of related to this subject.  We weren't necessarily complaining about our lives, but wondering why certain trials and hurts had happened in our family.  My sister was saying how much a song speaks to her about this - "Blessings" by Laura Story.  Seeing the miracles and blessings in things around us, and sometimes through tears of sadness yet we see how positive it affected someone else.  The comment was made that sometimes the blessing is not for us, but we are used to bless someone else.  My Mom talked about her first breast surgery and how she was calm and relaxed because she felt the "blanket" of prayer over her.  The nurse came in and asked, "You are lying here getting ready for surgery that may change your life forever and yet you are smiling and relaxed - How is that possible?"  My Mom went on to share the Gospel with that nurse and the seed was planted.
There are some things that we may experience that we will never know why they happened until we get to heaven, but we make it through not by complaining to others, but running to God and His people.  He is our refuge and our strength!

I praise the Lord today for another opportunity to live another day and embrace the challenges that come my way.  May I see those that need to hear about my Savior; may I speak His love to those I meet; and may I hear and feel His promptings to share with each one!  HE is my strength and HE is my Rock!  I will run to Him and bask in His goodness and love!

Have a wonderful Sunday as you worship our Lord and Savior - Jesus!

Love and prayers!

Saturday, July 2nd - Psalm 38

Good Morning GEMS!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 38: David knew God physically afflicted him because of his sin.  Not all illness is a punishment, but pain should drive us to The Healer.

David paints a pretty vivid picture of his physical affliction.  He knew it had come from God as punishment for his sin, but he still poured out his feelings of guilt, despair, and pain to the Father.  As Lisa said in her tweet, not all illness is a punishment, but it should drive us to The Healer - the Father - The Great Physician.

Whether it be physical pain, mental pain or spiritual pain, we should always seek God's help.  HE is always ready to listen and to help!  David confessed his sin and asked for the Lord's help and healing.  We too need to come before the Lord and confess our sins and ask for forgiveness, healing and help.
As our personal relationship with Jesus continues to grow and become stronger, we run to Him to confess and talk over thoughts and feelings and pain and hurts.  We don't always understand His answers, but are confident that HE listens and hears and answers!
Speaking from experience, it is really hard sometimes, but HE is with us every hour, every day, every week, and always.  I can talk to Him and cry out to Him and He hears me!  I seek to learn and grow from trials and use them to become stronger in my daily walk.  As I have said before, I am growing every day and long to be like Him in all that I say and do, but realize that He is still working in me and I cannot do it alone.  I am a work in progress!  Praises to His Name!

We are praying for you!  Please let us know if you have specific requests that you would like us to lift before the Father.  Enjoy your Saturday!

Love and Prayers!

Friday, July 1st - Psalm 37

Good Morning from Camdenton, Missouri!

Well, we got in last night and it was still around 92 degrees.  It is already in the 80's this morning and suppose to hit 100 this afternoon with a heat index of 115 to 120!  Guess we will be staying in or jumping in the Lake alot!  :o)

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 37: Contrasts righteous and wicked people.  Even when it seems like the wicked have it all, stay true.  Ultimately, God's people "win".

Wow!  This Psalm is packed full of promises and encouragement for us!  Let's take a look at a few of the verses, starting with verse 4: "Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart."  He has our best interest in mind and will bless us.  He created us and knows us inside and out and knows our spiritual desires and longings.  I think this verse talks to spiritual desires as well as physical.  What do you think?  My spiritual desire to become more like Him each day is both spiritual and physical - as I talk the talk and walk the walk!
Look at verse 7: "Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him;".  It is so hard sometimes to wait, let alone patiently!  Didn't we discuss this in James?  However, we know that if we wait patiently, great things come to be!  HE is there for us - always!  "Though we stumble we will not fall, for the Lord upholds us with his hand." (vs 24)
Take a look at verses 3-8, 11, 16-19, 23-24, 28-31, 34a, 39-40.  Are you encouraged?  I hope so!  We have such an awesome Heavenly Father that loves us and takes care of us every step of the way and every minute of the day!  Lean on Him - Trust Him - Love Him!

We still have to do our part and serve our risen Savior. Trust - Dwell - Commit - Be still - Refrain - Turn - Wait - Consider - Trust - these are all action words! We need to be in His Word daily, talk to Him about everything, share His Good News (Gospel) and have a relationship with Him! Let's dig in and go deeper!

I hope you have a great day on this first day of July! Enjoy yourselves and know that HE is watching over you and loves you with an unconditional love!

Love and prayers,
Cheri Lynn
