Monday, October 31st - Psalm 139

Good Morning!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 139 v 23-24:  Dear God, "Search me" and if You see that I am worrying about something or I am being offensive-show me so I can let it go.

This is one of my very favorite psalms.  It is praise, it is encouragement, it is a pleas and a prayer, it is a psalm of thanksgiving, and a psalm of acknowledgement.

God knows each of us better than anyone else in the world, in the universe.  He made us!  He knows everything about us - our personal habits, our likes and dislikes, our thoughts and even the words we speak before they are uttered.
There is no place to hide that HE is not there!  He protects us!  He watches over us!  He loves us and we love Him.

I love verses 13 through 16.  There have been songs written with these verses, book written and sermons built around these verses.  Verse 14 is a good memory verse: "I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well."

The psalmist goes on to write that God is everything - His thoughts are precious; His presence is always with us and He protects us.
Then in verses 23 and 24 the psalmist pens the prayer that I hope we all pray on a regular basis: "Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting."

Remember the old hymn taken from this passage of Scripture?

Search me, O God, and know my heart today,
Try me, O Savior, know my thoughts I pray;
See if there be some wicked way in me;
Cleanse me from every sin, and set me free.

I praise Thee Lord, for cleansing me from sin;
Fulfill Thy Word and make me pure within;
Fill me with fire, where once I burned with shame;
Grant my desire to magnify Thy name.

Lord, take my life, and make it wholly Thine;
Fill my poor heart with Thy great love divine;
Take all my will, my passion, self and pride;
I now surrender, Lord, in me abide.

O Holy Ghost, revival comes from Thee;
Send a revival, start the work in me;
Thy Word declares Thou wilt supply our need;
For blessings now, O lord, I humbly plead.

Make this your prayer today!  Spend some time in the Word and ask our Heavenly Father to search your heart and your thoughts.  Are there changes that need to be made?  Listen....

Sunday, October 30th - Psalm 138

Good afternoon!
I apologize for being a little later today, but I had to be at the church by 7:15am and two kids to get ready besides myself!  Sorry!
What an awesome worship service!  The music, the message and the fellowship was fantastic!  Loved it!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 138 vs 8: "The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me". What a promise! I know God has big things for me - and HE will fulfill that in me!

I like this Psalm!  I love verse one:  "I will praise you, O Lord, with all my heart;" because that is what I want to do - Praise my Lord and Savior all the time and with all that I am!  God's love and His faithfulness, His name and His Word have been exalted above all things!  HE is the one true God!
Verse 3: "When I called, you answered me; you made me bold and stouthearted."  That is one of my prayers too, that I will be bold and stouthearted for Him.  A dangerous witness!

God watches over His children and He protects us. (vs. 6 and 7)  However, verse 8 is the promise we want to read and have happen in our lives: "The Lord will fulfill his purpose, for me; your love, O Lord, endures forever -- do not abandon the works of your hands."

He WILL fulfill His purpose for me!  Just like Lisa, I know that God has great things for me, but I need to listen and abide by His time table and not my own.  Trying to get ahead of Him is not what I need to do - I will wait on the Lord!

Will you allow the Lord to fulfill His purpose for you?

Saturday, October 29th - Psalm 137

Happy Saturday Morning!

Today is my Mom's 75th birthday and I wish I was down in Missouri to celebrate with her, but because of technology, we will see her and talk to her this evening through Skype.  Yeah!
It is going to be a great day here!  What opportunities will come our way to share and serve and tell others about Jesus?  Be on the lookout!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 137: When things are hard - what else can we do, but stubbornly recall that we are God's?  He doesn't forget.  Joy isn't based on circumstances.

It is so easy to "forget" when things are going wrong or are tough.  Many times that is when we begin to rely on our own strength.  We don't want to "bother" God with the little stuff until it becomes huge and then we "run" to Him and ask for His help.
God is with us all the time and He longs to be a part of every minute of our lives.  HE doesn't forget us at all!  He is there!  He is here!  He will always be!  He loves us!

Remember when Lisa spoke about joy in our hearts and that it isn't the same as "happy"?  Therefore her last statement is so true - "Joy isn't based on circumstances."  We have the joy of the Lord all the time and yet there are times of sadness, times of frustration, times of happiness (more than the others usually), and times of great joy!  It is kind of hard to explain, but the joy in our hearts is the knowledge, the saving grace and the love of Jesus!

Remember the second verse of the first chapter of James that says we should consider it pure joy whenever we face trials of any kind.  God does not and will not forget!  Rejoice and be glad!

Make it a great day and be on the lookout for those opportunities!

Friday, October 28th - Psalm 136

Good Morning!

Make sure you dress a little warmer today as it is only 38 degrees outside this morning!  Burr!  I am not a cold weather person, but guess it comes with the territory!  :o)

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 136: One-liners to take a look back at all God did for His people. What "one-liners" would best describe all that God has done for you?

This is a Psalm of praise and thanksgiving and declaration.  Verses one through nine are all about who God is and what He created!  Awesome!  His love endures forever!
Verses ten through twenty-six tell the story of the Israelites rescue from Egypt to the Promised Land.  God took care of His people, just as He does today!  "Give thanks to the God of Heaven."  His love endures forever!

Sometime today or this weekend, let's try and write our own psalm (song) of praise and declaration.  We can start with the first nine verses and then start our "one-liners".  I will work on mine and then post it here to give you an idea of what it might look like!  I am excited!

Have a great day!  Enjoy this cool Friday!

Thursday, October 27th - Psalm 135

Good Morning!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 135: Does anything have first place in your life besides God? Those things are idols. We become like the things we idolize. Put God first.

This is a psalm of praise and of warning.  The first four verses are of praise and that we should praise the Lord, our God.
I love to sing praises and to worship Him.  I recently got back to singing with the choir and it brings joy to my heart.  Last night we were rehearsing for Sunday and to hear the voices lifted up to Him in melodious harmony and praise was awesome! (We're practicing for the Christmas Concert too and that is going to be awesome as well!)  God loves to hear our songs of praise!  Sing to Him today!

Verses five through fourteen are talking of God's character and what He has done and can do.  He is the One True God.  He is the great Creator!  He brought the Israelites out of Egypt.  He protected His people and continues to do so today.  I love verse thirteen: "Your name, O Lord, endures forever, your renown, O Lord, through all generations."  HE is eternal!

Verses fifteen through eighteen discuss idols.  I think the psalmist described them so well: made by the hands of men; have mouths, but cannot speak; have eyes, but can't see; ears, but can't hear and they have no breath in them.  A few examples of today's idols:  money, TV, video games and systems, food, travel, and just stuff.  As Lisa said, anything you put first in your life, is an idol.
She referred to verse eighteen:  "Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them."

The psalm ends with praise and that is what we need to do as well.  Start your day with praise and end your day with praise.  I like to praise all throughout the day too!  :o)  Put God first!

Have a great day!

Wednesday, October 26th - Psalm 134

Good Morning!

What a wonderful evening we had at GEMS!  Great food, Great fellowship, Great teaching - an awesome night!  All the Little GEMS had fun too and were so excited!  I am so blessed to be a part of this awesome ministry!

Lisa's Tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 134: It is such a joy to serve God by serving His people. Where do you serve?  Blessings come to those who serve; May the Lord bless you.

Psalm 134:  "Praise the Lord, all you servants of the Lord who minister by night in the house of the Lord.  Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and praise the Lord.  May the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth, bless you from Zion."

With service comes praise!  They go hand in hand and it IS a joy to serve God by serving HIS people.  There are so many different areas to serve within the church!  You can choose to serve behind the scenes or in front, but you are missing out if you aren't serving!  Praise the Lord as you serve; Praise the Lord for others who serve; Praise the Lord that you have the opportunity to serve; and Praise the Lord because HE is God!

I know the blessings received through serving and I am sure we all could testify to the many blessings we have seen and shared in the House of the Lord.  Whether it be Kidsview, the Edge, One, Small Groups, The Well, Cafe 19, Music, Drama, or wherever - may you be blessed!

Where do you serve?

Tuesday, October 25th - Psalm 133

Good Morning!

Have you seen the forecast for today?  77 degrees with sunshine and wind!  It looks like this will be our last day above 60 degrees and so enjoy it!  I am not a winter person and will take every day I can get with the warmer temps.  I will enjoy today and can't wait to see all of you tonight at GEMS!

Lisa's Tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 133: Living in unity means that sometimes, you have to die to your need to be right.  God's love is not shown when we put another down.

This Psalm is short, but important.  We all know how much nicer it is when everyone is getting along - as family, as teams, as small groups, etc.  Verse one says it all: "How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!"

Living in unity takes work and sacrifice as Lisa eluded to in her tweet.  Sometimes we need to say no to what we want or to being right.  There needs to be decisions made as a group and wisdom and discernment.  As I said, it is work!
If you look at the last verse of the Psalm, we see that there is a promise if we live in unity - "For there the Lord bestows his blessing, even life forevermore."  We are blessed and have eternal life!  Hallelujah!

Have a wonderful day and I hope to see you tonight!

Monday, October 24th - Psalm 132

Good Morning!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 132: David couldn't rest because he wanted to build a temple for the Lord.  Does your heart burn to see God's will at work through you?

What drive David had.  He was determined to build a temple for the Lord, a dwelling place.  It was to be a place of worship.  God promised David that it would be his family that built the Temple, the dwelling place for the Lord.
Verse 16 is prophetic in that God says, "He will clothe her priests with salvation."  Speaking of His eternal dwelling place, Jesus came from the line of David, a High Priest that brought salvation through His death and resurrection. The second part of the verse says "her saints will ever sing for joy."  That speaks of all the saints - that's us!  We will sing for joy forever in eternity.

Back to Lisa's question:  "Does your heart burn to see God's will at work through you?"  Can you imagine if we all had that burning deep within us?  What would God's church look like?
I pray that my heart will burn deeper to see God's will at work in me!
God gave us His command through Jesus - "Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.  And surely I will be with you always, to the very end of the age."  Matthew 28:19,20

Does your heart burn to see God's will at work through you?

Sunday, October 23rd - Psalm 131

Good Afternoon!

Have you had a good day so far?  Mine has been great!  First service at Eastview was great and this weather is wonderful!  What a beautiful day!

Lisa's Tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 131: A weaned child has been told "no" by its mom so it will develop fully.  Ever feel like God has answered your prayers with a "no"?

There are lots of times that it is really hard to say "no" to our children and yet we know that it is in their best interest!  God always has our best interest in mind and sometimes has to say "no".  We want our children to be fully developed young men and women as they grow and God wants the very same for us!  He wants us to be fully developed and know His Word as we become servants in His Kingdom.  We serve an awesome God, who loves us unconditionally and enough to discipline and say "no" at times!

I like verse 2 where the psalmist says he has quieted and stilled his soul before the Lord.  When was the last time you did that?  When was the last time that you just sat in HIS presence and listened and poured your heart out before Him?
I treasure those times when it is just God and me - a spiritual retreat!  Let me investigate and seek His face - what do I need to change or move to receive a "yes"  to my prayer?

Take time today to still and quiet your soul before God Almighty!  Listen!  Do you hear His voice?  Read and meditate on His Word!  "Be still and know that I am God!"  Psalm 46:10

Have a great afternoon and evening!

Saturday, October 22nd - Psalm 130

Good Morning!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 130: God forgives all our sins completely - what grace. Do we forgive others the same way in which we have been forgiven?

God forgives!  He is unfailing love!  With Him is full redemption!  We are redeemed!  Hallelujah!

In verse five the psalmist writes, "I wait upon the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I put my hope."  Last Sunday we sang a song about this very verse - "Strength will rise when we wait upon the Lord, wait upon the Lord, we will wait upon the Lord."
When we wait upon the Lord and put our hope in Him, we are strong!  We can face the trials and temptations of this world and be victorious.  HE is with us!

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son; that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16  GOD who is unfailing love forgives all our sins.

I will return to the question that Lisa asked this morning - Do we forgive others the same way in which we have been forgiven?
It may not be easy, but with God - it is possible!  Take it to Him and HE will give you strength as you wait upon Him!

Have a great day!

Friday, October 21st - Psalm 129

Good Morning!

It's Friday!  Like so many other parents today, I have parent/teacher conferences and so I took the whole day off work!  :o)  Hope to get lots accomplished, but even if I don't, I get to spend the day with my son!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 129: A prayer asking God to free His people from those who hold them down.  Lord, make them unsettled (6), unsuccessful (7) & unblessed (8).

God, through His Son, has given eternal salvation if we but accept it and live our lives for Him!  He has given us a helper - the Holy Spirit and He is present at all times!  He helps us to pray when we don't know what to say.  He helps us all along our journey, this side of heaven.

God did not say that the Christian life would be easy, but it will end with great rewards that are out of this world!  "Run towards the prize and finish the race."  Read the following passages and see what we are working towards:  1 Corinthians 9:24; Philippians 3:14; and 2 Timothy 4:7,9.

Do you notice that in the first three verses of this Psalm that the psalmist rejoices and no matter what has come his way, he praises the Lord and does not fall!  To put it in today's language, God has our backs!  He is always with us and fighting for us and protecting us!  Let Him!  Don't try and do it on your own, but ask!!

Have a great day!

Thursday, October 20th - Psalm 128

Good Evening!

I apologize for being later today, but things didn't go as I had planned this morning or throughout the day!  However, it was a good day!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 128: The fear (awe) of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. (Proverbs 1:7) God's ways, if followed, lead to incredible blessings in our lives.

Have you ever felt when you were praising God in song that you just wanted to throw yourself on the floor and worship Him?  How about when you have been praying or sharing with a small group and you just want to kneel in His presence?
I do stand in awe of the Almighty God! (I never really understood that songs lyrics either: "I stand, I stand, in awe of You!"  There is no way I could be standing!)

As HE teaches through His Word and we learn, we do receive incredible blessings.  Our lives are full of His goodness and blessings.  As we get closer to Him, He draws closer to us and we are in awe of Him!

Praise be to the Lord, for He is worthy of our praise!

Wednesday, October 19th - Psalm 127

Good Morning!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 127:  It's all about trusting God. Our successes are a reflection of what He does in our lives.  Work hard; rest hard - trusting God in all.

As Christians, we have put our trust in God and our lives in His Hands.  He is the Lord of my life!  Everything I do reflects Him.  There are days when I don't do so well and others when I know He is pleased.  He has blessed me beyond measure.  He hears me when I cry out to Him and He answers.  It may not always be the answer I am looking for, but He answers.  Give each day to Him before you start!  It will make a difference.

In verse three the psalmist mentions children.  "Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from him."  Wow!  Amen!!  And what a reward they are!
I am so blessed to have my son and daughter.  They are truly my little blessings - my little gems!  I ask the Lord daily to help me raise them according to His will - to grow up to be a man and woman of God!  I pray for them constantly!

As Lisa wrote above: Work hard - rest hard; and trust God in all!  Trust God all the way and your reward will be out of this world!  :o)

Have a great day!

Tuesday, October 18th - Psalm 126

Good Morning!

Hope you are well this morning and enjoying the cooler temperatures.  I really miss the sunrise though!  It's getting later and later and is now after 7:00am.  I went downstairs and turned the heat on this morning!  :o)  Guess it will probably stay on now!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 126:  I look forward to the day when "captive" people for whom I have been praying to accept Christ will say God "has done great things".

I am with Lisa on this thought.  I also look forward to the day when those I have been praying for to accept Christ will come and I will know they are a part of the family because He has done great things.
Then I wonder, am I doing my part?  Am I sharing the Gospel with those I meet?  Am I praying enough for my friends that don't know Christ?
Verse 5 really jumped out at me and caused me to remember a friend of mine.  I witnessed first hand my friend weeping for the lost and on several occasions, wept with her.  I know we have experienced great joy as we have seen many come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, but we anticipate the day that we will rejoice even more.

We must plant the seeds and then pray that they will grow.  Others may come behind us and help "water" by sharing their story of how Jesus has changed their life, but only God brings true growth and salvation!

Won't you take a moment even as you read this, to pray for those that do not know Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord?

Monday, October 17th - Psalm 125

Good Afternoon!

It has been a long day!  I started to write this blog this morning, and my computer had turned off and I couldn't get it to come back on and the mouse and keyboard didn't work and I was trying to get the kids out the door and my folks and.....  Enough said!  However, nothing can get me down as I have the JOY of the Lord in my heart!  :o)

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 125: Sometimes - doesn't it seem like bad people "get away" with things?  Why won't God do something? Just trust Him - you continue to do good.

I will admit that I have had the thoughts that Lisa mentioned, but then I read today's Psalm and I am reassured of my reward and my place in the family of God!

Look at verse 1 where it says "Those who trust in the Lord...cannot be shaken but endure forever!"  Hallelujah!  In verse 2 it says that the Lord surrounds His people both now and forevermore!
Those are two promises that I hold on to and anticipate with excitement!  We will live with HIM forever and we will be in His presence!  I keep thinking of the song, "I can only Imagine".  Do you know what you will do?  I think I will be one that falls to my knees and weep tears of joy and sing His praises at the top of my lungs!  :o)

As I said yesterday, I can't wait!  How do you think you will react?  I would love to hear some of your responses!

Love and prayers to all!

Sunday, October 16th - Psalm 124

Good Afternoon!

It has been a great day!  The worship service was wonderful; singing with the choir was stupendous; fellowship with family and friends was fabulous; and anticipating the day that I will stand/kneel in His presence and praise Him forever is awe inspiring!  I can't wait!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 124: What in your world feels like it will "swallow you alive"?  The Lord is on the side of those who seek Him; He gives a way out and up!

Have you ever felt so overwhelmed that you couldn't breathe or think straight?  Remember, God is always present!  HE is on the side of those that seek His Face!  He protects us and helps us in times of need and any time!  HE CARES!!

God always provides a way - He may close a door, but he will open a window!  Continue to seek His face and ask for help with the small things as well as the big things.  He wants to be a part of your life!  Talk with Him daily!  Praise Him and share your life with Him.

Have a terrific week!

Saturday, October 15th - Psalm 123

Good Morning

What a beautiful morning!  The sun is shining bright and I am excited about the day.  I had a great evening last night as I coached my son's Upwards Flag Football team.  It was a little chilly on the field, but I was warm on the inside watching the boys have fun and play their little hearts out.  It was a good game!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 123: When life is getting you down, where do you focus your eyes?  Lift them up-in-prayer, look to God.  In His mercy, He will reassure you.

God is always present!  He was, He is, and He always will be!  He anxiously awaits for us to call on Him and to have conversation with Him.  He loves us!  When I am feeling down, I look up!
I have to admit, though, that I don't think I would make it through the day if I couldn't look to Him for strength, comfort, guidance and love.  He is the Master and Lord of my life and I love Him!

Where is your focus?  I pray it is on God the Father!

Have a great day!

Friday, October 14th - Psalm 122

It's Friday!

Sorry I am late getting this out, but I couldn't get to my computer until later today.  My folks are here from Missouri and lots happening in my home this weekend!  I love it!  :o)

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 122:  Going to my church brings me joy.  Are you plugged into a church that does the same for you?  If not, find one!  Pray for all churches.

I can honestly say that I feel like Lisa when it comes to going to church.  I get excited and I am filled with joy when I go to church.  I love the fellowship, the teaching from His Word, the worship through song, and just being with family!
I completely agree with verse 1 of today's psalm:  "I rejoiced with those who said to me, 'Let us go to the house of the Lord.'"  I go to the church several times during the week for meetings and then on Sundays for worship.  There are a few times that I just don't have that "joy" when I enter the doors, but I can't remember but a handful of times that I have walked out of those same doors not feeling that joy and uplifted spirit.

There is just something about being with God's people, my brothers and sisters in Christ, that lifts me up and gives me great joy.  No matter when or where (as far as physical location) going to church brings me joy!

Will I see you there this week?  I hope so!
Let's worship together!

Thursday, October 13th - Psalm 121

Good Morning!

I listened to the rain all throughout the night and thought of how big and great our God is!  It is just awesome!  HE is ALWAYS present and watching over His children - His people!  Our God is an awesome God!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 121: As a perfect father, God watches over and protects His own.  We must stay close to Him in order to feel this protection.

"I lift up my eyes to the hills---where does my help come from?  My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth."  Now I have that worship song running through my head, but what a way to start the day!  :o)  The Creator and Maker of Heaven and Earth gives me strength and guides me through each day!
God protects His own - me and you!  He does not sleep, but watches over us all the time.  He watches over and guides us throughout our life, but will be with us forever as we spend eternity praising His Name.
As Lisa mentioned, we must stay close to Him to feel this protection, but as your personal relationship with God grows - you will feel His protection, His constant care and His love.  He is the perfect Father!

Have a wonderful day!

Wednesday, October 12th - Psalm 120

Good Morning!

What a great night at GEMS we all enjoyed last evening.  Lots of food, fellowship and a great message from the Word of God!  It was a good night!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 120: We all want peace, but too often, we find ourselves in "war" zones in our lives.  Do you speak peace into your world as a response?

Well, we are moving on in the Psalms and the psalmist has a similar message that we saw in Psalm 119.  He calls on the Lord God in times of need in his life.  He cries out for God's protection.  He calls for peace.  God can give it all!

There are so many times we find ourselves in very stressful situations and "war" zones as Lisa referred to in her tweet.  Sometimes is seems like never ending chaos!  How do you react?  Just as God was with David, HE is with us!  He will come and bring calm to chaos and peace.  We must do our part and pray and ask for His peace.  He is always with us!  Call on Him!

In today's world we are bombarded with so much through the media, through advertisements, and even work and school.  We need to have that 30 minutes, hour or even a little more, where we rest in His arms and we communicate with our Heavenly Father - God!  Speak His peace into your world today and know that God is with you!

Praying for you!

Have a great day!

Tuesday, October 11th - Psalm 119:169-176

Good Morning!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 119/169-176: "Let me live that I may praise You."  The reason for sticking around on this earth-that my life points others to God.

As we come to the end of Psalm 119, we end with praise.  Words like praise, sing, and delight are mentioned as the psalmist cries out to God.  He lives by the Word of God, it is his life.  He asks for understanding knowing that God will provide.  He knows that God is with him and will help him every step of the way.

Praise is on his lips and in his heart.  The Word of God is his delight.  Verse 175 is the verse that Lisa wrote in her tweet: "Let me live that I may praise You."  Wow!  Let us live that we might carry out the Great Commission and share God's love to the ends of the earth.  Let me live that I might sing Your praises and make a difference in my co-workers day!  Let me live that I might help another person in need.  Let me live that I may help others see God and HE will change their lives forever!

Through Psalm 119 we have learned so much about trust, leaning on the Word of God, having a personal relationship with God, obedience and consequences, hiding the Word of God in our hearts, and praising God through it all!  His love will sustain us, through the job we must do - Share the Gospel!!

"Let me live that I may praise You."  May my life and yours point others to God!

Have a great day!

Monday, October 10th - Psalm 119:161-168

Good Morning!

Happy Columbus Day!  The kids are out of school (most of them anyway) and many Moms are staying home for the day.  I am home and in fact, my kids are still sleeping!  Go figure!  :o)  It's gonna be another beautiful day!

Yesterday was awesome!  We enjoyed a great time of worship at church and then a wonderful message by Tyler Hari, our Missions Pastor.  I finally took the kids to Comlara Park last yesterday and took some fall pictures and they turned out pretty good.  I absolutely love looking at God's great handiwork.  As we were leaving we saw 4 deer and they were just beautiful.  As I said, it was an awesome day!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 119/161-168: My favorite hymn-Trust & Obey, for there's no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to Trust and Obey.  It's the way to peace.

I'm with Lisa as far as loving this old hymn.  I thought I would do something a little different today and provide the lyrics to this old hymn.  Read them and think about them.  Trusting and Obeying is the way to peace!

Trust and Obey     (Text by:  John H. Summits  1846-1919)

When we walk with the Lord, in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His Good Will, He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

Trust and Obey, for there's no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to Trust and Obey.

But we never can prove the delights of His love,
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.

Then in fellowship sweet, we will sit at His feet,
Or we'll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.

The psalmist mentions throughout this Psalm 119, how much he loves and lives by the Word of God.  He trusts God and has given his all to Him.  He delights in the Word of God.  Do we?  I love the last verse of the hymn - in fellowship sweet with God or walking with Jesus side by side.  Can't wait!  Then the author brings us back to our world and the great commission - What He says we will do, where He sends we will go!  Never fear, only Trust and Obey!

Have a wonderful day!

Sunday, October 9th - Psalm 119:153-160

Good Afternoon!

I apologize for being later today, but I didn't get Lisa's tweet this morning until after I was in church and then of course I just got home.  What an awesome day the Lord has given us today!  Church services were great; lunch was good; and this weather is the best!  I could take this year round!  The beauty of the fall colors, the warm breeze and the smells of fall in the air!  I love it!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 119/153-160: It's not "ok" if someone does not follow Christ (158).  It should stir us deeply & drive us to passionate prayer for him/her.

This passage shows the passion of David (believed author) for God and His Word.  He trusted God completely and knew that God would take care of Him!  David was upset and angry when he saw those that did not follow God's ways and turn to Him for deliverance.  As Lisa said, It is not "ok" if someone does not follow Christ.
Our hearts should break for those that do not know the Lord Jesus.  HE is our Lord and Savior and HE has asked us to share that good news!  Yes, it might put us out of our comfort zone, but we need to share!

Tyler's message this morning at Eastview was right on!  We need to advance the Kingdom of God and share our faith!  Even though we know that when the Kingdom is advancing, conflict is present.  Conflict is part of human nature, but when handles with compassion, propels the mission of the Church forward.

The Mission Statement for Eastview Christian Church states:  FEARLESS church of Christ followers whose RIDICULOUS love and DANGEROUS witness are irresistible.  I pray daily that I am this person!  May my heart break for those that do not know HIM and may I be driven to my knees in passionate prayer for the lost!

I am ready - are you?

Saturday, October 8th - Psalm 119:145-152

Good Morning!

Happy Saturday!  I am so excited about today!  I have the opportunity to go and serve and share God's love today and hopefully make a difference.  I can't wait to see what God is going to do through His children!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 119/146-152: What do you do when worries keep you awake?  Meditate on God instead of your problems (148).  Convert worry to prayer.

Have you ever had one of those nights that you lie in bed and just turn from side to side and keep thinking about your concerns or worries?  I have!  I would like to say that every time I have had that happen that I begin to pray and turn to God, but i can't.  I'll get up and get a drink, play a game on the computer or do laundry and then I am exhausted because I haven't slept.
However, I haven't done that for awhile and I have been turning to God and praying and "running" to the Father!  It makes all the difference in the world!
As I lie in bed or hit my knees, I begin praying and using the scripture verses that I have memorized and even humming praise songs.  I lay my worries and concerns before the Throne and He hears and answers.  He calms my spirit and many times I fall asleep praying and oddly enough, wake up praying!
The best thing is that I feel rested when I get up and can greet the day with a smile and know that His promises are true and they last forever.  God is the same yesterday, today and forever!  He NEVER changes!
Verse 147: "I rise before dawn and cry for help; I have put my hope in Your Word."  This same God that the psalmist sought early in the morning and with all his heart, is the same God we serve and worship today!

There is a worship song that has the phrase, "My hope is in You Lord, my hope is in You!"  In John 1:1 it says: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."  This verse speaks of JESUS!  The Word is another name for Jesus!
Now, put the two together and our hope is in the Lord Jesus Christ!!!

Give your worries to God and He will take care of them for you!  Remember, our hope is in Jesus and He is going to return and take us HOME!

Have a blessed day and know that I am praying for y'all!

Friday, October 7th - Psalm 119: 137-144

Happy Friday Morning!

What big plans do you have for the weekend?  It is suppose to be beautiful and I know that we will all have opportunities to share our faith and let our little lights shine!  :o)

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 119/137-144: Even in our lowest times, if we focus on God & His word, He will lead us out (143).  He is righteous-and right-all the time.

The psalmist writes that the Word of God is trustworthy!  If we read, study and focus on God's Word, we can get through anything.  I am not saying it is easy, but we can trust and know that God will lead us through!
In verse 142 it says that the Word of God is true and that His righteousness is everlasting. In the very next verse the psalmist says that the Word is his delight and continues to ask for understanding.

As I have said before as we have read Psalm 119, the Word of God is our guide or like our handbook for life.  It comforts, it teaches, it gives joy, it brings peace to an anxious heart, and provides everything we need.  It is TRUE!

I think I can rewrite one of my favorite quotes:
God is good-righteous-right all the time and all the time God is good-righteous and right!

Have a great Friday everyone!

Thursday, October 6th - Psalm 119:129-136

Good Morning!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 119/129-136: Unfolding (130) Wow - incredibly true.  Sometimes the Bible seems hard to understand. But, if we truly study, God unfolds it.

These eight verses are all about being in the Word and learning and living by the Word!  The very first words are that God's Word is wonderful!  Think how much more wonderful it is today when we have the whole Bible and the psalmist only had a portion!
Verse 130 is exciting.  The Word of God gives understanding and it brings light!  Have you ever been reading a passage in the Bible and all of the sudden you "understand" or it speaks to you?  It's like the little light bulb goes on and we get it!  The more we read His Word and study It, the more we will understand and the more we will want to learn (131).

Verses 132 through 135 are the psalmist prayer.  Notice how the psalmist wants the relationship with God to be more - "Turn to me", "Direct my footsteps", "Redeem me", "Make your face shine upon me", and "teach me".  I want to pray these words!  I want God to unfold His Word to me and I want to know and have more!  The chorus comes to mind: "I want to know You more, I want to see Your Face!"  That is my desire!

I read a quote yesterday that said, "The devil loves dreamers. He is terrified of doers."  Wow!  What a challenge - I want to be a doer!  How about you?

Have a great day!

Wednesday, October 5th - Psalm 119:121-128

Good Morning!

It's Wednesday and the middle of the week!  How's everything going?  How about your memorization?  I have had a great week thus far and have seen God's mighty hand at work.  We serve an awesome God!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 119/121-128: God is the God of Justice.  I don't have to get even when I am wronged; I have to pray to ask Him to work out justice for me.

The psalmist is bold in His prayers to God and knows that God will take care of him.  Verse 122 he asks that God ensure his well being.  In verse 124 he asks God to teach him.  We can pray this same prayer - Father God, teach us Your Ways through Your Word!  God is faithful and will honor our request!

In verse 125 the psalmist asks for discernment and understanding.  His relationship with God was one of student, child, follower, and one of love.  In verse 127 he says that he loves God's Word more than gold, more than pure gold.  Do you love God's Word that way?

God is the God of Justice and He will take care of His children!  All we have to do is ask.

Have a great day!

Tuesday, October 4th - Psalm 119:113-120

Good Morning!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 119/113-120: Double minded people are exhausting and disappointing; God's Word never changes.  Look at yourself: Are you in awe of God?

The psalmist declares his dependence on the Lord God - his refuge, his shield, his hope, his life and his love!  God is his everything!
How about you?  Is God your everything?  I stand in awe of His Majesty, His greatness, His Faithfulness, and His Love!  He is my everything!

Have a great day!

Monday, October 3, 2011 - Psalm 119: 105-112

Good Morning!

It is going to be a great day and a great week!  The temperatures are suppose to be quite a bit warmer and the sunshine is to continue all week!  Of course the SON shines through us all the time - right?  :o)

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 119/105-112:God's Word is a light to my path.  If I "walk" in that light, I stumble less on the "stuff" of life, and I have joy.

Verse 105 was one of the first memory verses I learned as a child.  I still remember it and have brought it to mind many times.

God is so good!  He leads us through each day and when we stumble, He helps us up and we carry on!  We read and learn and live His Word and we "walk" with Him every step of the way.  Verse 108 says, "accept , O Lord, the willing praise of my mouth, and teach me your laws."  Praise Him and study His Word and we will learn.  In verse 111 it says that the Word is the joy of the psalmist heart.  Is it for you?

Have a great day!

Sunday, October 2nd - Psalm 119:97-104

Good Evening!

I am really sorry I am late today!  I truly feel that I was meant to go through the day before writing the blog tonight.  What an awesome day!  JESUS IS KING!!!  In Him we have VICTORY!  Praises to His Name!!  Praise to God, our Father!

In the last two days I have been to the mountain and climbed it and have experienced the mountain top!  I feel so full that I cannot breathe!  Experiencing EQUIP with over 200 Small Group Leaders was amazing - encouraging -  and life changing!  Experiencing and participating in the worship service this morning (twice) was even more amazing - uplifting - holy - exciting - encouraging - VICTORY!!!!  Tears have fallen the past two days, but tears of joy, of thanksgiving, of love, of blessing, of gratitude and of anticipation of Jesus' return!
I mentioned to several this afternoon that I came away with a "holy headache"!  If this is what Heaven is going to be like, I cannot wait!  Maranatha - come Lord Jesus!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 119/97-104: God's Word makes me wise, understanding, insightful.  So long as I do not depart from God's commands, I grow in these areas.

The more we read God's Word and meditate upon it, we can face anything that comes our way.  His Word becomes a part of us and who we are in Christ!  God's Word makes us wise (98), have more insight (99); more understanding (100); direction (101); obedient (102); and satisfied (103, 104).

What particular verse are you working on memorizing this week?  Let's do at least one a week and see where we go!

Have a great evening!
Blessings!

Saturday, October 1st - Psalm 119:89-96

Good Morning!

It's Saturday and the first day of a new month!  Yeah!  I am so excited as I get to attend the Leadership Conference - EQUIP - at Eastview this morning!  It's gonna be a great day!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 119/89-96: When life is chaos, what can anchor like God?  God's Word gives incredible comfort, direction and peace - and He never changes.

Lisa pretty much packed the 8 verses this morning into a two line tweet!  Wow!  It says it all!

We start with verse 89 and realize that God's Word is eternal - everlasting!  The very next verse we learn that His faithfulness continues through all generations - is forever!  With His Word, we find strength to overcome; we find comfort and renewal; and we find direction/guidance.  God's Word is a one stop shop!  It has it all!
It is like the quote I used a few days ago:  "God said it! - I believe it! - That settles it!"

Remember, God never changes!

Have a great day and enjoy the fall weather!
