Thursday, December 20th - 1 Peter 2:9-12

Good evening!

What an awesome night I have had!  I have to admit there were some little bumps along the way, but I have been blessed beyond what I deserve.  Glory up!!  As I went to pick my son up from school it started actually snowing.  It was very windy and it got bad pretty fast.  I had made plans with another GEMS to decorate my house tonight and so called and told her I would pick her up and we would still continue as planned.  What a blessing and to see how God had prepared this time for me and the kids and my friend.
It was a great evening filled with laughter, Christmas music, lots of stories of Christmas' past, getting to know each other a little better, and topping it all off with pizza!  My house looks great and I am ready to host my family for the holidays!  The kids and I took our friend home and marveled in God's beautiful art work with the snow on the trees and bushes and houses.  Beautiful!  It was still windy and cold, but we were all warm and snuggled up with God's love and enjoying each other and the first snow and holiday season in our new home.  Thank you dear friend for the blessings this evening!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: 1 Peter 2:9-12 ~ As God's chosen people, we live in the light of His mercy.  Live in such a way that other people want what you've got:  GOD

Do you see in verse nine who we are?  A chosen people (God chose us), a royal priesthood (royalty), a holy nation (holy), and a people belonging to God (belong).  Wow!  It doesn't get any better than that!  We were called out of darkness (our sinful life before Jesus) into His wonderful light (a new creation in Christ)!
We are the people of God!  We have received mercy!  God is good all the time and all the time God is good!

Did you realize that in verse 11 we are called aliens and strangers?  Do you know why?  Because we are!  Our citizenship is out of this world and in the Kingdom of God!  We are HIS people!  We are called by HIS name!  We were chosen to represent the Kingdom of God here on earth.  What a high calling!  Are you ready?  Are you letting your light shine?  Are you living each day in such a way that others look at you and wonder what is different?  Do they want what you have?  Share your story about giving your life to the one and only God that sent His Son as a Baby to grow and die on the Cross and to rise again to save us from our sins and give us the hope and promise of eternal life with Him.  Let His light shine through you today!

Shine bright!  Remember the chorus we sang/sing - "This little light of mine - I'm gonna let it shine..."  People are watching!

Love and prayers!

Wednesday, December 19th - James 1:16-18

Good Evening!

What a great time we had last night at GEMS!  The fellowship was great, the meal was delicious, the teaching was right on, the candle-light service was awesome, and topping it off with a baptism was over the top exciting!!!  As Lisa say, "Glory up!!"

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: James 1:16-18 ~ God = Father of Light. He chose to make light and He chooses to love you and give you life.  #perfectgift

Look at verse 17 and see how the words describe the very essence of God - good, perfect, giving, Father, and unchanging!  He is the Father of Light and He is unchanging!  He is the same  yesterday, today and forever!  He chose to create this world and HE chose to create us - love us and give us life!  How awesome is that?

At this time of year, Christmas, we celebrate the Father's ultimate love in the birth of His Son - Jesus - the perfect gift!  God gave His Son that He might give His life for us and we would have the hope and promise of eternal life!  God is the Father of Light and Jesus is the Light of the World!  Through Him there is no darkness!

Remember as you look at the manger holding the baby Jesus, that God chose to love you and give His Son to die so that you and I might have life!  Jesus - the Light of the World - the Perfect gift!

May His light shine through you!  Merry Christmas!

Blessings!

Wednesday, December 12th - Philippians 3:12-21

Good Morning!

It's a bit chilly outside, but no wind!  I am hoping everyone feels good today and can go to school.  It's tough not feeling well.  Hey a little trivia for y'all this morning:  the date today is 12/12/12 and it will be the last one until 01/01/01 or January 1, 2101.

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Philippians 3:12-21 ~ When you mess up, confess, repent ~ Press on...don't give in...don't give up.  Forget your past - look toward a hopeful Godly future.

How many of you are athletes?  It doesn't matter which sport, but knowing that you can relate to giving everything you have to attain or win the prize.  That is the Christian life - we give everything that we are to God and walk daily in His way to attain the prize - ETERNAL LIFE with HIM!  Read verse 14:  "I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."

When I played basketball I always gave 110% because I loved the game.  Sure there were times when it hurt and I was discouraged and I would fall, but I always got back up, changed my attitude and pressed on to my goal - knowing I had done my very best and that I gave 110%.  It is the same with the Christian life, in that we give it our all - we fall, but we confess and repent and get back up and press on.  God has provided His Spirit to walk with us every step of the way and to help us in those tough times so that we can press on toward the goal and attain the prize in heaven!

Look at verses 20 and 21:  "But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body."  How awesome is that?  We will have new bodies that are like that of Jesus - perfect!

Remember, our citizenship is in heaven and we will press on toward the goal until Jesus returns and takes us HOME to the prize!

Have a great day!

Sunday, December 9th - Psalm 103:11-12

Good Evening!

What a day!  God is AWESOME!  I absolutely love to go and worship with my church family and sing His praises and hear what He has to say through His servant Mike!  I choose to be an Isaac - how about you?

Psalm 103:11-12 - "For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us."

Have you ever thought about how high the heavens are above the earth?  How about how far the east is from the west?  He loves us and He cares about us!  God sent His Son to live among us, to teach us, to show us His ways, to die for us, to conquer death and to give us the hope and promise of eternal life!  How great is our God?
Did you see verse 12?  HE has removed our sins from us - as far as the east is from the west!  He forgives our sins!

I ran into a video awhile back and I just sit and cry every time I watch it!  It speaks of God's creation and how everything was created to give Him praise!  I want to share it with you today and hope you enjoy!

Saturday, December 8th - 1 John 1:7

Hey!

I am on a spiritual high with Jesus!  I can't even begin to express all that I am feeling, thinking and experiencing in my spirit right now!  It is amazing!  I just got home from the third and final Christmas Concert and although physically I am totally exhausted, I have a very gravelly voice, my emotions are spent - I am blessed beyond words and tears of joy and love flow!  The Spirit of the Lord worked mightily in and through us today!  Wow!  The privilege of sharing our God-given talents with thousands was a blessing!  Spending time together throughout the hours we were at church and hearing devotions that moved us to tears was awesome!  God speaks human!  We are chosen!  God chose us!  Wow!

1 John 1:7 - "If we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his son, purifies us from all sin."

What an appropriate verse for today.  I have definitely experienced fellowship with Him and His church these past two days!  As I mentioned yesterday, His blood covers our sin and we are made white as snow.  Let's walk in the Light as He is in the light!

It is late, but I wanted to share with you tonight and let you know I love doing life with y'all!  Let's continue to grow together as we walk in the Light and share it with others!

Love y'all!

Friday, December 7th - Proverbs 25:26,28

Good Morning!

Happy Friday! I am so excited about today as we (choir, orchestra and band) will share our first of three Christmas Concerts tonight at Eastview! We have practiced hard and now we can sing, play and speak for your listening pleasure, but first and foremost for the glory of God - The Reason for the Season! May HE be pleased with our offerings this weekend! "O Come All Ye Faithful" to this "Silent Night" to worship the "Son of God" and hear choirs singing "Joy to the World" because "Born is the King" - "Hallelujah"!
It's going to be a great day!

Proverbs 25:26,28 - "Like a muddied spring or a polluted well is a righteous man who gives way to the wicked."  "Like a city whose walls are broken down is a man who lacks self-control."

Have you ever been eating a meal out in a restaurant and you are talking and having a great time and then you go to take a bite of whatever and it falls in your lap - hitting several places as it falls?  Now your shirt/blouse and possibly more clothing have stains!  That is kind of what like sin is like on our spiritual clothes/our heart.  When we sin we put a stain on our heart - it is dirty.  However, because of the blood of Jesus, those stains can be washed away as we ask forgiveness of each one.
In verse 28 the topic of self-control comes up again.  We have discussed this several times in the past and know how important it is in our lives - with every aspect of our lives.  Remember some of our scriptures that we have read and memorized?  Galatians 5:22-24 which talks about self-control as one of the fruits of the Spirit.   2 Peter 1:5-8 is a passage that helps encourage us in our faith and having self-control is so important as we share our faith with others.  And one other is 1 Peter 5:8 that says we need to be self controlled and alert as the enemy prowls around like a lion looking for someone to devour.  Self-control is important!  How are you doing in this area?  Need prayer or encouragement?  Let us know!

Have a wonderful Friday and remember:  the Baby Jesus was born and became a Man and saved us from our sins, giving us the hope and promise of eternal life - HE is the Reason for the Season!

Love y'all!

Thursday, December 6th - 1 John 1:5-10

Good Morning!

It's Thursday and we only have one more rehearsal and then the concert!  Wow!  Have you got your tickets?  Night Divine - Friday night at 7pm and Saturday at 3pm and 7pm.  May God be glorified and His people be blessed!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: 1 John 1:5-10 ~ You're going to sin - deal with it.  The most efficient way to deal is to confess when you mess up and accept that He forgives you.

I love this passage of Scripture!  When I was in college, we had a chorus that we sang that was taken from verse seven.  It was done in a "round" and when there were several girls singing, it was awesome.  I can still hear nightly devotions and someone would start:  " If we walk (If we walk), in the light (in the light), as He (as He) is in the light (is in the light); we have fellowship with one another (we have fellowship with one another), and the blood (and the blood), of Jesus purifies us from sin (of Jesus purifies us from sin).

Yes, we will sin!  We are not perfect!  Did you read verse 9?  "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."  What a promise!  The hardest part sometimes for me and many is accepting the fact that He forgives.  We beat ourselves up sometimes because we have sinned and hurt God and others.  Claim verse nine and know that God does forgive and He helps us along the way - every step we take - HE is there!

Let's memorize verse seven together and claim His promise: "If we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His son, purifies us from all sin."

Have a great day!

Wednesday, December 5th - Proverbs 24:15-16

Good Morning!

It was a little harder getting out of bed this morning, but we made it!  This week is tough as we are rehearsing for the Christmas concert and trying to keep up with school, work and other activities.  I was able to see a few of you at GEMS last night and was so excited to see new faces!  I will be there in two weeks and looking forward to doing life together!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Proverbs 24:15-16 ~ Which team are you on? Wicked Team ~ Don't care when you hurt God and others.  God's Team ~ It breaks your heart when you mess up. #TeamGod

There are times that I feel so frustrated with myself.  I know what I am suppose to do and what I am suppose to say and even how I am suppose to act, but sometimes I don't!  It is not that I am a part of the Wicked Team, but that I am human and I fall!  When I do I hurt deep inside as I have let God down.
God has promised each one of us that HE will be with us every step of the way - this life and through eternity!  HIS promise is good!  He is beside me and helps me up when I fall - brushes me off and we go on our way!  He is faithful and true to forgive, if I but ask!  I don't want to hurt God or friends and family or even strangers.  I am a member of God's Team and I strive everyday to live for Him.  May others see Jesus in me!

Have a great day and know that I am praying for y'all!

Sunday, December 2nd - Luke 6:45

Happy Sunday!

What a day!  My kids and I were at church by 6:00am and it was a long day, but such a blessing and uplifting day!  We, the choir, had the opportunity to share two of the songs from our upcoming concert; we witnessed a baptism; we participated in an awesome musical worship time (3 times); we heard the numbers from Imagine (over 900 families helped); and we heard a wonderful message!  My heart is overflowing!  My physical body is tired, but my spiritual body is rejoicing and praising my God - my Lord and Savior!  What a way to start the week!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Luke 6:45 ~ The Bible is not hard to understand, read this verse.  Pray for more "good".

"The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart.  For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks."  Luke 6:45

I think I agree with Lisa in that this is not hard to understand.  We have talked about it before and I will reiterate - our spoken words and actions reflect who we are in our hearts.  I also echo Lisa's words: "Pray for more "good""!

I pray that everyone will have a fantastic week and will remember that He is in control - He is the Reason for the Season - and He is to be praised!

Love and Prayers,
Cheri Lynn

Thursday, November 29th - Proverbs 14:3; 15:2

Good Morning!

We are almost done with November and into December!  Schedules are filling up with parties, concerts, shopping and other stuff, but I pray we do not lose sight of the Reason for the Season.  Be sure to take time for God on a daily basis.

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Proverbs 15:2 ~ No one wants to be a fool, but you might be....How are you known - as a person who uses wise words or one whose words do harm [fool]?

Have your words ever gotten you in trouble?  Mine have!  Have you heard any of these phrases:  "Think before you speak!" - "Put your brain in gear before your mouth!" - "I only open my mouth to change feet!"?
I had the privilege of going to the Chonda Pierce concert a week or so ago and just loved sitting and listening and laughing with her.  She has said several times that "she thinks and then things slip out before they are sanctified".  Does that happen to you?

All of us want to be an encourager and not harm people with our words, but there are times that things "slip out".  We have talked about how our words reflect our heart and if our heart is right, our words will be also.
Take a moment to examine your heart this morning - how are you feeling?  Are you ready to show Jesus to the world today?  Do you have His love ready to share with others?  How about those Scriptures you have been memorizing?  Use those wise words today and encourage and build up!

Ready - set - GO!

Blessings!

Tuesday, November 27th - Proverbs 13:2-3

Good Evening!

It has been kind of a sad night for me as I have thought about all the good times I had as a kid growing up in Heyworth and spending lots of time with Adrian and Helen Robeson.  Adrian went Home while I was in Portugal and Helen went Home this past Sunday.  What memories have flooded my mind.  Now she is HOME and feels no more pain or frustration or sadness!  We will say our final goodbyes tomorrow and I have the privilege of singing two of my favorite hymns - "How Great Thou Art" and "Just a Closer Walk With Thee".  It's gonna be a great celebration of life!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Proverbs 13:2-3 ~ If something is not in your heart, it can't come out of your mouth.  If you "didn't mean it" - don't say it.  #guardyourmouth

Have you ever thought about the words that come out of your mouth.  They reflect what is in your heart!  Do your word reflect frustration and stress or freedom and easy going?  Do they reflect pain or healing?  Do your words reflect bitterness and dislike or do they reflect love and grace?

It is hard sometimes to be encouraging when we don't feel that way.  However, if we are in communion with our Heavenly Father and take time to be with Him and learn from Him, HE provides the words we should say and the thoughts we should think and the strength to live as He would have us live!  HE is our all in all!

There was another tweet I saw today that was encouraging and also thought provoking: @bakerpastor: One of God's coolest inventions:  Healing! His eternal design to heal works for teeth and for souls.  What do you need healed today?  #seekGod
I ask the same question of you this evening - What do you need healed today?  Is it your heart so that your words reflect HIM?

Have a great evening!

Thursday, November 15th - Proverbs 13:19-21

Good Evening!

I just came from a wonderful concert!  I was at Kingsley Junior High School and the 6th grade chorus, band and orchestra all performed.  It was great!  I was so very proud of my son - to see him singing and playing the tuba!  Did my heart good!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Proverbs 13:19-21 ~Look at the results in your life.  What kind of people are you surrounded by?  Choose wisely.  You become what you hang out with.

Choosing wisely can bring blessing upon blessing, but choosing the wrong path or foolishly can lead to consequences and destruction.  Look at verse 20:  "He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm."  Which would you rather be?

Do you remember in school, back in the day, that there were "clicks" or certain kids hung around other kids and they were the "in" crowd?  They all began talking the same and sometimes dressing alike and even doing things the same way.  Do you also remember that if the group was caught doing something wrong, and you were part of the group - it was guilty by association?

Who do choose to "hang" with today?  Are you associated with the wise or the foolish?  I hope we all choose to surround ourselves with fellow Christians, both older and younger.  We can learn so much from each other and also mentor at the same time.  Remember, prosperity is the reward of the righteous.  Choose wisely!

Blessings!

Wednesday, November 14th - James 3:1-12

Good Evening!

I read a tweet today that said:  "Worship is the best response to encountering God's beauty.  Don't miss the chance to worship God today!"  This statement is so true for me as I absolutely get lost in worship when I am in His beautiful creation - the Smokey Mountains, the Rockies, the Sequoias in California, the ocean, Victoria Falls in Zambia, Africa, Cliffs in Portugal, the fall colors here in Illinois, and my own backyard!  HE is everywhere!  His beauty is all around us!  Can you see it?  Will you worship with me?  Sing His praises!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: James 3:1-12 ~ The words that come out of your mouth set the tone for the entire course of your life.  Keep your mouth shut until you can speak well.

This passage is pretty straight forward and fairly easy to understand.  Your mouth, your tongue specifically, can get you in real trouble.  You know why most coaches tell a player or a person to take a deep breathe and count to ten?  Because it allows the person to calm down and think more clearly.  It is important!
Look at verse 9 and 10 - With the same tongue (mouth) we praise our Heavenly Father and turn around and use the very same mouth to curse men.  This cannot be!  We need to choose our words wisely!

Let's go back to our worship that I mentioned at the beginning.  While you are sitting or kneeling or lying down taking it all in and worshipping the Great Creator, our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus - ask for direction.  Ask for wisdom and most of all ask for strength to be an example for good and not for bad.  Be the exception in today's society and not the rule.

As you rise to face a new day tomorrow, look to God's creation and see what you can find that blesses you.  Drop us a note if you take the challenge!

Love and prayers,
Cheri Lynn

Tuesday, November 13th - Proverbs 12:18-19

Good Evening!

Another beautiful day today!  The sunshine was gorgeous and the temps were a little higher today!  The sunshine just seems to put more smiles on people's faces.  Don't you think?

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Proverbs 12:18-19 ~ Your mouth can be a deadly weapon if you choose words that kill others.  It can also be a source of life if you choose loving words.

These verses are pretty self explanatory.  Use or choose the wrong words and you can hurt people, friends and co-workers.  Do you remember the old saying: "Sticks and stones can break my bones, but words can never hurt me!"  That is so wrong.  A good example is children!  Sometimes they can be so very mean with what they say.  Whether it is on the playground or in the lunch room, many times vulgar and wrong words are uttered!  They hurt!  Many times the receiving one doesn't say anything and holds it deep inside and that is very hurtful.
Look at the second part of these verses:  "but the tongue of the wise brings healing.  Truthful lips endure forever."  Proverbs 12: 18b - 19a

Which do you strive for?  I choose the harder way and learn to be patient before I speak and think it through as much as I possibly can.

Have a great evening everyone!
Talk to you tomorrow!

Monday, November 12th - Acts 16:25-34

Good Evening!

Enjoying the cooler temperatures?  Definitely colder than yesterday, but a beautiful day all in all with the sunshine warming it up a little!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Acts 16:25-34 ~ At the brink of death (27), seeing the integrity of Christians around him led a man to choose life ~ for him and his family  #Jesussaves

I love this story!  Do you realize what Paul and Silas were doing at midnight?  They were praying and singing hymns!  They were having their own little church service and everyone in the prison was paying attention.  Then all of the sudden there was an earthquake and it opened all the doors of the prison.
Put yourself in the place of the jailer - what would you have done?  This was a big responsibility and all the cell doors were swung open and he assumed everyone was gone.  What would happen to him?  The authorities probably would have beheaded him anyway and so he went to take his own life.  However, Paul stopped him and then the story is full of joy - the Jailer approached Paul and asked how to be saved, listened to Paul and Silas and then was baptized along with his family.  Wow!
Verse 34 says that the whole family was filled with joy because they had come to believe in God.

Let me ask you a couple questions:  How does worship affect you?  Do you really get into the praise songs and the prayers and the preaching of the word or do you just "quietly participate", thinking about other things that you need to do?  You know, we are going to have an eternity of worship - praising our God and Savior!  Hallelujah!  What a day that will be - when His face I see and I can raise my hands and sing His praises with all that I am!
Secondly, are you filled with joy?  Real joy that comes from deep within!  The kind of joy that helps us grow in our faith and helps us persevere.  Read James 1:2-4!  Joy is not always an outward expression, but many times and inward action.  Consider it pure joy when.....

How about you?  I choose to worship Him all day everyday with joy in my heart!  Read Psalm 100 and sing it to the Lord!  Begin to memorize this chapter and then use it often in your devotions!  It is true praise for the Father!

Love and prayers!

Sunday, November 11th - Proverbs 11:29

Happy Veteran's Day!

I am so very thankful for all those in the armed forces that have served and are serving and for those that gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.  Thank you men and women of the Armed Forces!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Proverbs 11:29 ~ Family can be the greatest source of joy and of pain.  What are you pouring into your family?  No matter what, choose to be loving.

Family is important to God and He has given us a guide book on how the family should look.  God, our Father disciplines us just as we discipline our children.  It hurts, but it is needed.  It is hard to discipline your child, but you want them to learn!

I became a mother through adoption.  November is National Adoption Month and we - my family and I - celebrate with thanksgiving, as we have seven adopted children in our immediate family.  I have two, my sister and husband have three, and my brother and his wife have two.  We have truly been blessed.  My son and daughter are the best blessings I have ever received.  I pray daily that I will be the Mom that God wants me to be to them.

I pour the love of Jesus into them each day and know that they are the greatest joy for me and yet can make me weep with pain and agony and uncertainty.  It hurts!  People always talk about tough love and I think it is harder on the parent than on the child.  As you read Lisa's tweet:  What are you pouring into your family - both immediate and also extended (friends and family)?  No matter what, choose to LOVE!!!

As for me, I choose LOVE!
"Not flesh of my flesh, nor bone of my bone, but still miraculously my own...never forget for a single minute - you didn't grow under my heart, but in it!"

Remember, family is important!  No matter what - choose to show them love!

Have a great week!
Love and Prayers!

Saturday, November 10th - John 15:1-11

Good Evening!

What a beautiful day!  It was a little windy, but so nice!  Hope you enjoyed it as much as my family did!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: John 15:1-11 ~ Got Joy?  Jesus says, "Want some? Come get some."  How?  Know God so well by studying and applying the Bible to you life  #completejoy

I love this passage of scripture.  God is the Gardener, Jesus is the Vine and we are the branches!  God cares for us and He trims where it is needed and he cuts off where that is needed.  Verse 4 is important: "Remain in me, and I will remain in you.  No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me."
We CANNOT do it on our own!  We have to have Jesus beside us and in us to share His Story!  Jesus is the Way the Truth and the Life and no man comes to the Father, but by and through Him!  Go ahead and read verse 5, which says almost the same thing.

Verse 7 - if you are in Christ Jesus - ask and it shall be given.  Look at verse 11 - complete joy - as can only come from Jesus!

Memorize verses 9 through 11 and pray them daily.  Remain in His love and He will remain in you and your JOY will be complete!

Hope to see you tomorrow at church, but if not, have a blessed day!

Love and prayers!

Friday, November 9th - Proverbs 6:12-15

Good Morning!

It's Friday!  Can you believe it?  The entire first week of November is gone!  Thanksgiving in two weeks and then Christmas and then a New Year!  It seems like time is flying by much faster than it used to - am I getting old?  LOL!  Either way, today is a whole new day and I will use it to serve and worship my God!  How about you?

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Proverbs 6:12-15 ~ Going down a wrong path can seem "fun" ..for a minute.  God's way leads to success and unimaginable freedom...that lasts for eternity

As we discussed on Tuesday night, the broad road leads to destruction.  It can seem very easy and fun, but the end result is pain and destruction.  God's way or the narrow road is difficult at times, but the end result is eternal life with Him.  As Lisa wrote, God's Way leads to success and unimaginable freedom.  It is amazing!

Yes, there are parts of my life that I still struggle and I continually give them up to Him, but I try and walk everyday in His steps and allow Him to have control.  I have been a Christian almost all my life and I still have "those days".  God is good and continues to pick me up and tell me that He is with me and I am His!

How will you spend this day - Friday, November 9th, 2012?  As for me and my house - we choose God's way!

Blessings!

Thursday, November 8th - Luke 11:9,10

Good Evening,

What a day, but rewarding just the same.  The weather is suppose to turn a little warmer this weekend and I am looking forward to that!  How about you?

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Luke 11:1-12 ~ When you feel lost, where do you turn?  Talking to God in prayer works; you have to do your part.  Ask/Seek/Knock ~ He answers

I love this passage and especially the Lord's Prayer at the beginning and then verses 9 and 10.  Have you ever really looked at the Lord's Prayer?  It covers everything!  Praise - Worship - Supplication - Thanksgiving - the physical - the spiritual!  It is everything we need.  Think about it as you pray!

As for verses 9 and 10, these are a promise.  As Lisa says, we have to do our part as well.  We have to have a relationship with Him in order to be able to ask and to seek His will for our lives and to knock and ask for guidance, etc.  We have to be in His Word daily and also have a good prayer life.  This is how we get through each and every day!  It is important!

Memorize verse 9 and 10 and hide them in your heart!

Talk to you tomorrow!
Love and prayers,

Wednesday, November 7th - Proverbs 1:27-31

Good Morning!

Did you get to come to GEMS last night?  It was good and the meal was wonderful!  I wasn't feeling on top of my game last night, but through the fellowship with my GEMS and Lisa's teaching and some prayer, it was a great evening!

Proverbs 1:27-31 kind of reflects Matthew 7:13-15. Read both passages and then look at the verses in Matthew:  Jesus  said:  "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.  But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it."

Jesus did not say it would be easy to follow Him, but it is totally worth it!  I honestly do not know how people make it each and every day without Him.  I couldn't!

Take a look at verse 33:  But whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm."  That is how I want to live!  How about you?  Listening to the Word of God and knowing it in my heart is how I will stay on the narrow path and one day be ushered into the Throne Room of God!  I can't wait!

Memorize verse 33 of Proverbs 1 and hide it in your heart!

Have a great day!

Thursday, November 1st - Titus 2:11-14

Good Evening!

The first day of November!  Wow!  I had a very busy day - how about you?  Either way, I hope it was a good day for you and yours.

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Titus 2:11-14 ~ We have salvation because of God's grace.  The same power that saved us gives us strength to live holy lives.  Boldly ask for strength

This passage pretty much gives us our marching orders!  We have been saved by God's grace.  It teaches us to say "NO" to ungodliness and worldly passions.  We are to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives while we wait for the return of Jesus Christ.  HE redeemed us from all wickedness.  We are HIS!!
If you look at verse 15, we are asked or rather told to teach these things - to encourage and rebuke with authority.

We have our orders, let us carry them out until the day Jesus Christ returns!  Let's encourage one another as well and share the Gospel with all those that cross our path.

One more thing - As we enter November - let's start a journal of Thanksgiving and each day, write something that you are thankful for and then re-read it at the end of November and see what God has done in your life!

November 1st:  I am thankful for my sisters at GEMS and for the opportunity to minister through the Blog and GEMS nights!

Love and prayers!

Wednesday, October 31st - Proverbs 20:5, 9

Good evening!

It was a little chilly tonight, but my littlest had fun.  She was dressed as a princess and even wore heels!  She was so polite at every house and always said thank you!  How about y'all?  Good evening?

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Proverbs 20:5,9 ~ On a 'holiday' that centers around a lot of dark things, both verses remind us that we are to be pure.  Let your light shine/Matthew 5:16

I mentioned a little about my outing with my kids tonight, but I found it very interesting that there were a lot of families going together.   It was fun to see the different costumes and how cute some of them were.  Yes, there were the darker side characters, but for the most part everyone was pretty well dressed and very polite.
As Lisa said, both of these verses call us to purity.  This is talking about purity of the heart, but also the mind and the mouth.  We need to seek purity and not falter.  How are you doing on that front?  It isn't always easy, but HE will lead and guide!  Just ask!

"In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in Heaven."  Matthew 5:16
Awesome verse and maybe one that we should all memorize.

Let your light shine wherever you might be!  Do others see Christ in you, the Hope of glory?  I pray that they do!

Love and prayers,
Cheri Lynn

Sunday, October 28th - Proverbs 13:18

Good Evening!

"To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy ---to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen."  Jude 24,25

What an awesome service we had at Eastview this morning and the above verses have stayed with me all day long!  I stand amazed and fall before Him as I think about His glory, His majesty, His power, and His authority!  He is an awesome God!
As I sat and watched the weather channel before going to church this morning and since coming home from church, I have been praying for those that will be affected by Hurricane Sandy.  Mike talked this morning about the power in the storms and hurricanes being just a small rain shower in God's eyes.  Think about it - what power and authority God has and yet reaches down and loves us for who we are.  We serve a great God!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Proverbs 13:18 ~ You can't get away with doing things wrong; discipline always comes.  If you learn thru the correction, your life prospers.

As I have said before, we don't always like discipline, but it does cause us to change and to grow.  In the case of our spiritual lives, God does watch and He does discipline us.  It hurts, but He does it for our own good.
If you learn from your mistakes, you will prosper or be honored.  Which would you rather have - poverty and shame or honor and prosperity?

I will continue to walk the ancient paths and strive to be more like Him.  I know I will fall at times, but I also know HE will be there to pick me up and set me on the path of His Will once more.  I choose to WALK His Path!

Love y'all!

Saturday, October 27th - Proverbs 12:1,15

Good Evening!

It has been an interesting day!  How about you?  The highlight of the day was going out to the apartments by Home Sweet Home Mission and handing out candy, coffee and juice to the kids and adults there!  To see the smiles on their faces was priceless.  We shared the love of Jesus with them and sang and played and had a great afternoon!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Proverbs 12:1,15 ~ Do you hate living with consequences from bad decisions?  Wise up.  Before you do something, ask for Godly input...then follow it!

I can't say that I have always loved discipline, but I have learned to accept it and move forward trying harder to obey and do what is right and correct.  I do think I am learning from my mistakes much more quickly now than I did when I was younger.
I think I am gaining more knowledge each and every day and I know when and why the Lord "spanks" me!  Yes, it is not always pleasant, but needed if I am going to continue to grow in Him!  I want to be more like Jesus!

I do not know what I would do without my Christian friends and family to help me along each and every day.  I seek their advice and heed it too!  Sometimes it is not easy, but I always ask for God's input and blessing and things seem to go fairly smooth.

How about you?  Do you seek God's input before you make a big decision?  What about the smaller ones?  HE is interested in them all!

Have a great evening!
Love and prayers,
Cheri Lynn

Friday, October 26th - 1 Timothy 2:1-6

Hey!  It's Friday!!  It has been a rather stressful week, but HE has gotten me through each day!  I do not know what I would do without my Lord and Savior - Jesus!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistires: 1 Timothy 2:1-6 ~ Truth is not relative; truth is created by God in His Word.  The only reason you may not like that is if you can't handle the truth.

I love verse one of this passage:  "I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone --"  1 Timothy 2:1
I love to pray!  It is such a rewarding time with my Lord and my God!  My prayer list gets longer each day, but it is a privilege to prayer for family, friends and unbelievers.

Verses three and four are important too, in that it says God wants all to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.  Jesus said, "I am the way, and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me."  (John 14:6)
Knowledge of the truth is a knowledge of Jesus Christ!  If we know HIM, we know Truth!

How are you doing in knowing the Truth?  Are you in His Word each day?  Are you praying on a regular basis?  Are you sharing in fellowship with others - the Church?

Let us WORSHIP!

Love and prayers,
Cheri Lynn

Monday, October 15th - Proverbs 21:9,19 and Galatians 5:22-23

Good Evening!

Wow, I think this is becoming a habit!  I am sorry, but I had a sick boy this morning and then my folks came in this afternoon and we have talked non-stop!  It has been a great evening visiting with Mom and Dad and just catching up.  They were here two weeks ago for a very short visit (my birthday) and so we have had a lot to talk about.  Thanks for understanding my delay in posting the blog!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Proverbs 21:19 ~ Whether you're married or not, your words can make the people nearest to you either want to be close...or they can drive them far away.

So which are you?  Do your words turn people away and not want to be around you, or do they encourage and ease stress and everyone wants to be around you?  I want to be the latter!!  I want the words that come from my mouth to always be encouraging, loving, and joyful!  How about you?  What will you choose?

How can this happen?  Read Galatians 5:22-23:  "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.  Against such things there is no law."
We each have all this fruit because Jesus is our Savior and Lord!  We have the Holy Spirit living inside of us.  We may have different measures of each of these, but we have them.
We have to use them to win the battle.

Are you ready?  Arm yourself with the Sword, the Word of God and your shield of truth!
Let's hit it!

Love y'all!

Sunday, October 14th - James 3:3-10

Good Evening!

What a great Lord's day we have enjoyed.  It has been a very long day, but filled with praise and worship and doing God's work!  Thank you Lord for all that was accomplished today for Your glory.  Awesome!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: James 3:3-10 ~ If your mouth ever confessed that Jesus is Lord, then that same mouth should only be used to speak Godly words.  Ask God to help you.

Do any of you remember the old camp song - "Pass It On"?  It started out:  "It only takes a spark, to get a fire going...."  I was reminded of this song when I read this passage today.  It talks about turning a horse with a small bit in it's mouth; turning a huge ship with a very small rudder; and then the great forest that can be set a blaze with a small spark.  Yes, the tongue is a small part of the body, but can do great things, either for evil or for good.

In verse 9 it reads:  "With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness."  Our tongue can do good and be used in the service of the King!  It is our choice!  As Lisa said, ask God for help and He will not let you down!

It only takes a spark, to get a fire going;
And soon all those around, can warm up to its glowing;
That's how it is with God's love, once you've experienced it;
You spread His love to everyone, you want to Pass It On!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCjR4dlY33k  Take a listen!

We can use our tongues to create that spark in others, for the good of the Kingdom.  We spread His love to everyone - we want to Pass It On!!!!

Your choice - for good or for evil - what is your choice?

Love y'all!

Saturday, October 13th - Proverbs 15:4,16-17,23,27

Good Morning!

A warmer, but rainy day?  It is very nice outside right now, but I am sure the rain is coming.  Either way, this is the day the Lord has made and we will give Him the glory and serve Him with all that we are!  Right?

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Proverbs 15:4 ~ Even if your circumstances aren't great, you need to speak words that breathe life into people.  Do you want to bring life or crush it?

"The tongue that brings healing is a tree of life, but a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit." (4)

Have you ever really thought about the tongue?  Sometimes, I think it gets criticized and looked down upon incorrectly.  The tongue by itself is a vital part of our body.  Without it, we would not be able to taste all that God created for us to eat.  Without it, we would have a very difficult time whistling.  And to the main reason it gets a bad rap at times, is that without it we could not speak or sing!
The tongue is like an instrument - it can be used for good or bad.  It is actually what is in our heart that comes out of our mouths (by our tongues).
Have you ever had a bad day and everything was going wrong and a friend came up and said, "You know, I really appreciate you and the way you roll with the punches and continue to remain positive."?  How does that make you feel?  This friend has used their tongue to encourage and compliment and "bring life".  Now what if the comment was: "You have really screwed things up today and I think you should just go home and come back when you can do a better job."?  Feel the same way?  Not at all and probably even worse than you felt before the comment.  This person has used their tongue to tear down and crush your spirit.

When I am having an "off" day, I find that I turn on the radio and listen to praise music.  Music to me has always been a healing factor and as I lift my voice in praise, all the worries and bad thoughts seem to disappear.  Using my tongue to praise my God and Savior brings me great joy and "life".  I can feel His love deep within my heart and soul and know that HE cares and HE has everything in control.

I want to be one that brings life and not crush it!  It is tough at times and I struggle, but I know that God is continuing His Work in me and I will lean on Him and depend on His strength and not my own.  I will consider it pure joy whenever I face trials of many kinds, because I know that the testing of my faith develops perseverance.  Perseverance must finish its work so that I may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.  Blessed is the man  (am I) who perseveres under trial, because when he has (I have) stood the test, he (I) will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those (me, because I love Him) who love Him.  (James 1:2-3,12 - my paraphrase)

Let's go and bring life with the beautiful instrument that God has given!  Be a blessing to someone today!

Love y'all!

Friday, October 12th - Proverbs 14:1,26

Good Morning!

It's Friday!  How's your weekend looking?  Mine is going to be busy and then my folks will be here on Monday!  Don't forget your quiet times with the Lord!  They keep you on the right path!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Proverbs 14:1 ~ You have a choice:  Will the words you choose to say build people up or tear people down?  In prayer, ask God to help you be a builder

"The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.  He who fears the Lord has a secure fortress, and for his children it will be a refuge."  Proverbs 14:1 and 26

We know that this verse is not talking about a woman actually building her physical house, but in a figurative manner.  The wise woman builds her house on a strong foundation - Jesus.  She builds with words and actions and most of all love.  In Ephesians we read that Jesus is the cornerstone - the beginning of the foundation.  With Him, our homes will stand firm!
Words are so very strong and as we have said, can build up or tear down.  Actions are also very important and sometimes speak louder than our words.  If we are walking with Jesus and have Him as our foundation, our house will be strong and it will be a home that our children will come to as their refuge.

Stand firm and choose to be a builder!  It is not always easy and we may get a few splinters and cuts and scrapes along the way, but the end result is out of this world - eternity!  Let's do this together!

Have a Fantastic Friday!

Thursday, October 11th - Proverbs 12:18,25 and James 1:26

Good evening!

I just got home from Bible Study with my WALK Small Group and it was a good night, even though we were missing some dear sisters.  I am really enjoying this study and feel like I am growing and seeing things as God wants me to see them instead of with my own eyes.  Passages that I have read numerous times have a different impact than they ever did before!  It has been very refreshing!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Proverbs 12:18 ~ Negative words can cut through the heart like a sword.  With God's help, your positive words can actually help a person heal  #bewise

"Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing."  Proverbs 12:18
Have you ever been hurt by what someone said?  I have and I can still remember how it felt.  It hurt clear down to bone, or so I thought.  You know I have always heard it said and have even said myself - "Kid's words can be so cruel and hurtful!"  What about ours - as adults?  I think we can be just as cruel, if not more so!
I like the second part of this verse in that the tongue of the wise can bring healing.  Isn't that what we are supposed to do as Christian brothers and sisters?  Encourage your brother or sister or co-worker with words that are uplifting and edifying.  Don't put them down, but build them up.  Use Scripture - use the memory verses you are learning - pray with them...

How are you doing on your memory verses?  I hope it is coming along!  If you need some help, let us know.

Have a good evening!
God Bless!

Wednesday, October 10th - Proverbs 11:20 and Galatians 6:9,10

Good evening!

I apologize for being late, but the day just got away from me.  I have tried to get to the computer several times today, but just got that accomplished.
Were you at GEMS last evening?  What a message we heard and what a great time of fellowship!  It was awesome!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistires: Galatians 6:9-10 ~ It's hard to keep doing right when others don't appreciate it.  If you quit, everyone loses.  God appreciates it ~ press on (Philippians 3:12)

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers."  Philippians 6:9-10

God has given us our talents and gifts and we need to use them for His glory and not our own.  Everyone loves a note of thanks or a pat on the back once in a while, but that doesn't always happen.  Especially in today's world.  Be the exception and not the rule!  Yes God does appreciate our efforts, but we can encourage others in their works of service and they in turn will encourage us.  Let's do this together!

As the verse says, let's don't get tired of doing good, but press on!  We might not see the fruit of our labors, but we will know one day!  Don't give up!  Let's do good for all people and show God's love.

What better way to show His love than to help with Imagine this year!  Check your calendars and see if you can help!

Have a great night!
Love y'all!

Tuesday, October 9th - Acts 10:35

Good Morning!

I can't wait to see all of you tonight!  It is going to be a great evening!  Come and share a meal with us and then feed on the Word!  It will be awesome!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Acts 10:35 ~ It doesn't matter what you've done, God accepts you ~ When you know about God, He expects you to do what's right   #doingright=blessing

God accepts us just as we are - dirty with sin and not worthy.  After we accept Him, He expects us to live for Him.  How are you doing with that?

There are times when I fall, but He is always there to pick me up, brush me off and encourage me to do better!  I am so glad He isn't finished with me yet!  I love to serve my Master and my God!

See you tonight!

Monday, October 8th - Proverbs 14:26-27 and Psalm 34:9,15

Good Evening!

Happy Columbus Day!  It has been an interesting day for me and I am ready to just rest, but....  I am very blessed tonight and thank God for all His blessings!  God is good all the time....and....All the time God is good!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Proverbs 14:26 ~ Being in awe of God = protection for you and your kids.  Even when your kids don't want God, keep praying God's protection over them.

"He who fears the Lord has a secure fortress, and for his children it will be a refuge.  The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, turning a man from the snares of death."  14:26-27

Look at Psalm 46:1 - "God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble."  Does that sound familiar?  God is with us and He is for us!  As His children, He wants to protect us from all evil, just as we do our own children.  As we raise our children, they are in the fortress - our home and we pray for their safety and their protection from day to day.  Then one day, they go out on their own, but they know that they can always come home and be safe and take refuge in the familiar - home!
We have the hope of eternal life if we have Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior!  We may die an earthly death, but our eternal life is out of this world and in the presence of God, Whom we will praise and worship 24x7.  Hallelujah!  Maranatha!!  Come Lord Jesus, come!

In Psalms we read that those who fear the Lord lack nothing and He is attentive to their cries.  He cares about us and He loves us!  He longs to have a relationship with each one of His children.  How is your walk with Him?  Had any stumbles lately?  I have, but it is so encouraging to know that He is there to help me up and brush me off and send me on my way in His strength and perseverance.

Take a minute to thank Him for His grace and for His strength!  He cares for you!  He loves you!  Let Him know how much you love Him too!

Have a great evening!
Love and prayers,

Cheri Lynn

Sunday, October 7th - Psalm 25:14 and Psalm 34:7

Good Morning!

Oh what a beautiful morning; Oh what a beautiful day; I'm really trying to do life, walking with God in His ways!  I am super excited that I am a work in progress and He isn't finished with me yet!  We're doing this life together and I continue to strive for the prize - leaning on Him every step of the way!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 34:7 ~ Ever feel scared?  If you don't fear God, you'll fear something/one.  When God LEADS your life, He protects you.  #fearoftheLordProtection

"The Lord confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them."  Psalm 25:14  "The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them."  Psalm 34:7

God trusts those who fear Him with His plan and covenant.  We are to share His message with all we meet.  As He confides in us, we confide in Him and serve with all we are!  He in turn protects us.

Read all of Psalm 34.  This is one of my favorites and I claim the promises for my own.  Verse one is my battle cry each and every morning - I want to praise my God at all times!  I hope those around me see the joy I have and will join in the praise of the Most High God!
Verse 4 is powerful - "I sought the Lord, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears."  As we seek His Face - He sees, hears and answers us!  Verse five is a result of four - our faces should show our trust and relationship with Him.
He protects us and delivers us as is noted in verse seven. We take refuge in Him, we lack nothing and are His!  We are His and He loves us and wants the very best for us!

Will you let God lead?  Walk with Him and know that He protects you and loves you!  Run to the prize - eternal life!

Have a great day!

Saturday, October 6th - Psalm 103:13 and Luke 1:50

Good Afternoon!

What a gorgeous day!  It is cool, but the sun in shining and it is absolutely perfect weather!  Good time for wiener roasts and hot apple cider, etc.  Fall is here and summer is gone!  Rejoice in today and know that we serve a living and awesome God!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 103:13 ~ A good parent understands his/her kids.  God understands you and has compassion...but He demands respect.  #Don'tTakeGodForGranted

Do you remember when your children were babies and you had left them in the nursery and when you came to pick him/her up, you heard crying and knew it was your child?  Yes, we know and understand our kids, but God knows and understands each one of us on a much deeper level.  He created us!  He knows how many hairs are on our heads.  He knew us before we were born.  He has compassion on us, but we need to honor and respect Him.
Read on in Psalm 103, verses 17 and 18 - "...from everlasting to everlasting the Lord's love is with those who fear Him...."  From eternity to eternity - God loves those that fear Him!  That is amazing to me!  It also says that we need to live according to His ways and not our own.  Can we do that?  Absolutely, as He has sent the Holy Spirit to help us.

Model His ways for your children and let them know of His love for them and for their children too!  God is LOVE!

Have a great rest of the day!

Friday, October 5th - Proverbs 18:7; 20:3 and 31:30

Good Evening!

I apologize for being later today, but I had a very busy day and just got home from a party where we celebrated Christmas in October.  It was a lot of fun and great fellowship.  Now onto our thoughts for this first Friday of October!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Proverbs 18:7 ~ What comes out of your mouth is a mirror of what's in your heart.  If you are prayed up, your words will not make you sound foolish.

How true!  I wish that my words were always good, encouraging and uplifting as I speak, but unfortunately, they are not.  There are times that I fail and look foolish.  However, I continue to try and to be more like Jesus each and every day.

Have you happened to notice the similarities with many of the verses in Proverbs to the verses in the book of James?  I heard something this week that James is considered to be the Proverbs of the New Testament.
Read chapter 3 of James and note the similarities to these verses in Proverbs.  God's Word is definitely a guiding light as we walk in His steps and live our lives for His glory!

Hope you have had a great day and will enjoy the weekend!

Blessings!
