Friday, September 30th - Psalm 119:81-88

Happy Friday Morning!

The weekend is almost here and for some has already started as they don't have to go to work on Fridays!  I have a lot going on this weekend and look forward to every minute!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 119/81-88: How long?  When u are suffering, it's not a lack of faith to ask God that.  Look whom you chose to ask - that shows Whom you trust.

God's promises are true and He is faithful!  It is very hard sometimes to see why it takes so long, but God's timing is perfect!  He knows our limitations, He knows everything about us and He is helping us grow in Him through the tough times and the suffering.
I go back to the top 20 song I mentioned a couple weeks ago - Blessings.  We may not see His Hand in our situation, but what if the Blessing comes through tears?  God is there is every moment and HE will hold us up!
I am weak, but HE is strong!  HIS love will help us through the tough times and the good times.  God is ALWAYS with us through His Holy Spirit!  As you look back over your life, can you see His Hands and His presence with you in different situations?  I can - time and time again.  I can also remember how I would ask: "God are you here?  Do You hear me?"
I have even asked that as recent as a couple of weeks ago!  The answer?  "YES, My child, I am here and have your very best interest in Mind! I love you and will take care of you!"

Put your trust in HIM and HE will never fail you!

Have a blessed day!

Thursday, September 29th - Psalm 119:73-80

Good Morning!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 119/73-80: I pray people rejoice when they see me - because they are seeing Christ in me.  I won't be put to shame IF my heart is blameless.

What do people see when they look at me?  I, like Lisa, pray they see Jesus.  I want Him to shine through in everything I do and say.  My hope IS in Him!

He protects me, He comforts me, He walks with me and I delight in His Word and His presence!  Jesus loves me and I love Him.  May my heart be blameless before Him.

Go and let Jesus shine today in all that you do and to everyone you meet!

Blessings!

Wednesday, September 28th - Psalm 119:65-72

Good Morning!

What a great night we had at GEMS last evening.  It was great to see everyone and share a wonderful meal together and spend time in His Word.  God is good!!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 119/65-72: Ever had people say things about you that weren't true?  Our response should be to keep doing the good that God has taught us.

The Bible, God's Word is powerful!  It has all the answers, it comforts, it sets us straight and it tells of God's love for us!
We are not perfect and we fall, but the Holy Spirit helps us back up and we continue.  This world is not easy and there are those that will try to bring us down and to hurt us, but our hope and strength are in the Lord!

Look at verse 70 and 71.  The psalmist says he delights in the law - God's Word!  It was good for him to be afflicted as it caused him to learn God's ways.
We will have trials and temptations, but we can run to our Savior and find strength, comfort, and love.  Many times the tough times are to make us strong.  Stand firm and keep doing the good that God has taught you through His Word.

Have a great day everyone!

Tuesday, September 27th - Psalm 119:57-64

Good Morning!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 119/57-64:Do you have both feet walking with God? (59) Consider how your day went yesterday; turn away from things that do not please God.

Wow!  There are some cool thoughts in this passage of Psalm 119.  The psalmist indicates that the Lord is everything to him.  He desires to follow and obey.  The psalmist has daily time with God. (58, 62)  It is so important to have that personal relationship with God.  Time to commune with Him through prayer, reading His Word and worshipping with your church family.

In verse 59 we see that the psalmist has considered God's Way and has decided to follow in His footsteps or take the the path less traveled.  Interesting that we just heard a sermon about having both feet going the same direction and not trying to have one foot in the world and one foot on God's path.  It is difficult, but doable!  I will ask Lisa's question again:  Do you have both feet walking with God?

I mentioned that we need to have fellowship with our church family and worship together.  This is so very important!  (63)  Our GEMS meetings are a part of that time of fellowship and worship, but we need that Sunday morning praise and worship time too!  We need to be encouraged, held accountable, and worship together.

Tonight is our GEMS night and I hope to see y'all there!  Come and have a great time of food, fun, fellowship and spiritual feeding!  It will be great!

See ya tonight!
Have a great day!

Monday, September 25th - Psalm 119: 49-56

Good Monday Morning!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 199/49-56: God never forgets His promises; we need to remember that when we are suffering. Consistency in our walk is our key to freedom.

We find hope in God's Word!  We find comfort knowing that God never forgets His promises.  As we continue to grow in our personal relationships with Him, we become more aware of all His promises and the comfort and hope that they bring.

Lisa mentioned consistency and that is so true.  A daily time with Him is so important.  A time to be still before Him and know that HE is God!  I time to read His Word and to meditate upon it and to talk to Him about it!  Prayer - our conversations with God!

Remember the chorus "God is so good!" and the verses?
"God is so good; God is so good; God is so good - He's so good to me!"
"He cares for me; He cares for me; He cares for me - He's so good to me!"
"God answers prayer; God answers prayer; God answers prayer - He's so good to me!"
"God loves me so; God loves me so; God loves me so - He's so good to me!"

Have a great day!  I am praying for all of you!

Sunday, September 25th - Psal 119:41-48

Good Morning!

Happy Sunday to all!  It may be a little grey outside, but the Son is shining in each of us!  Hope to see many of you at church this morning.  It's a great day!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 119/41-48: Just because you follow Christ does not mean that you won't have people "taunt" you. Have God's Words in your mouth - not yours.

I have to admit that there are times when I let my words be spoken before what God would say!  I get caught up in the moment and say things that probably would be better left unsaid, but....

This passage talks about answering with the Word because it can be trusted.  And it can!!!!  Look at all the descriptive words and phrases the psalmist uses to describe the Word of God:  salvation according to His promise; trustworthy; the Word of truth; hope; freedom; courage; boldness; delight; meditate; and love!
When we continue to stay in the Word of God we will see all of this and so much more.  We will love to read His Word and practice what it says.

How is the memorization coming?  Keep on keeping on!

Have a great SONday!
Blessings!

Saturday, September 24th - Psalm 119:33-40

Good Saturday Evening!

What a beautiful day!  It has been a great day!  My folks are here and we went to a celebration this afternoon for a dear family friend that is 90 years young!  What a woman of God she is and such an example for all of us!  We ended the evening with a family dinner to celebrate my upcoming birthday next Saturday.  Mom and Dad said they couldn't come back up and that they would take me to dinner tonight!  :o)  It was very good, but made me a little late getting this blog posted!  Sorry!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 119/33-40: The only way I can understand God's Word is for the Holy Spirit to teach me to understand it.  Pray and ask for understanding.

The psalmist is asking to be taught, to learn, to follow the laws of the Lord.  We too must ask and be willing to learn.  Ask the Holy Spirit to give you understanding of the Scriptures and what you are reading in God's Word.  He will teach you!

Father God, direct my path, teach me through Your Holy Spirit so that I may know all You have for me to learn and I will rejoice in You and love and serve You with all my heart.
Thank you God for Your grace and for Your love!  In Jesus Name I pray,  Amen!

Have a great evening!
Blessings!

Friday, September 23rd - Psalm 119:25-32

Good Morning!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 119/25-32: Your soul weary?  God will strengthen you through His Word (28). Things in you that need to go?  God's Word teaches us how (29).

There seems to be an underlying theme in this Psalm - God has provided the tool kit for life - The Bible, God's Word!
It provides:  guidance - strength - answers - comfort - encouragement - how to's - wisdom - teachings - relationships - history - and - God's love story to us!  Amazing!

Notice that in these verses and those previous, the psalmist writes that he meditates on The Word, he has set his heart on the Word, and he holds fast to The Word.  That is how we need to be as children of the King!  We need to hold fast to God's Word, we need to set our hearts on it and meditate on His Word.

A time each day set aside for Him is a start.  The Bible really does have everything we need and coupled with Christian fellowship and corporate worship, it is amazing!
I am so very thankful for my Christian family - my sisters and brothers in Christ - that help me through each day!  God has provided His support system for each of us and shows His love through them.  Yes, sometimes it is tough love, but His love is strong and never ending.

Have a great Friday!
Blessings!

Thursday, September 22nd - Psalm 119:17-24

Good Morning!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 119/17-24: People can give us bad advice.  Answers to life's trials are in God's Word (24). The better you know it, the better you live it.

"Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law." Psalm 119:18  This is my prayer - that I might see wonderful things in the Word of God each time I read.  Remember how I was mentioning that the Word of God is new and different every time I read it?  I can have read a passage four or five times and yet I read it again and get something new or different out of it.  It is amazing!

The Bible has everything we need!  As Lisa said, the better you know it, the better you live it!  Kind of takes us back to memorization!  If you have it in your head and your heart, you will live it.  What verse are you working on today?

Have a great day everyone!

Blessings!

Wednesday, September 21 - Psalm 119:9-16

Good Morning!

I completely missed Lisa's tweet yesterday of how we would go through Psalm 119. :o(  At least we had the same idea and will do it by sections.  :o)
Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 119 is HUGE! There are 22 sections each headed by a letter from the Hebrew alphabet. We will go thru 119 section by section - get ready!

Here we go - section 2 - 119: 9-16
Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 119:9-16: There is only 1 reason to be pure:  God teaches that He commands it. As we obey that, we see that our lives are ruled by peace.

Verse 9 states it pretty matter of fact - how can you keep yourself pure? - by living according to God's Word!  Verse 10 says that we need to seek Him with all our heart.  Verse 11 is a well known verse and if you haven't already, it is a good one to memorize: "I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you."
Memorization of scripture is not always easy, but it is rewarding.  It's in tough time, times of joy and laughter that you can recall a verse or two that you have memorized and they bring you comfort, or direction, or laughter.  Let's start slow and gain momentum - memorize a verse a week (7 days) and then add more as you feel comfortable.  You may stay at one a week for quite some time, but at least you will have verses memorized!  Do you journal?  Write the verse at the top of each page of your journal as you go through the week.  It will help!

Verses 12 through 16 are about being in the Word.  Learning what God has to say!  Rejoicing in the opportunity to follow Him through His Word.  A quiet time with Him as you meditate on His Word.  It is important!

Which verse will you start today?  Verse 11?

Have a great day!

Tuesday, September 20th - Psalm 119

Good Morning!
It is going to be a beautiful day!  It is suppose to be warm and "summer-like" and I love it!  I hope y'all enjoy a great day!

Well, we have come to the longest chapter in the Bible - Psalm 119.  I am not real sure how we are going to handle it, but let's get started with verses 1 trhough 8 today.

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 119/1-8: God's law = the teaching He gives us about how to live in a right relationship with Him.  He'll bless as you APPLY what you learn.

There is some great teaching in these verses.  A few things kind of "stand out" for me.  In verse 2 it is written that those that seek Him with all their heart are blessed.  Kind of reminds me of the verse in Matthew:  "Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness..."  Having a daily quiet time with the Lord is important to our spiritual growth.
Verse 7 is my goal - "I will praise You with an upright heart as I learn your righteous laws."  I am amazed at the Word of God.  I have read the Bible through and several books over and over, but verses and chapters read differently almost every time.  In other words, I will find something new and exciting in a verse that I have read many times before.  I love it!  You can read the Word of God over and over and get something new each time.
We continue to learn and grow as we spend more time in His Word and in our personal relationship with Him.  It's exciting!

I am truly blessed!  I will praise Him with all that I am and continue to seek Him and His will for my life!

Have a great day!

Monday, September 19th - Psalm 118

Good Evening!

Sorry the post is coming this evening, but I ran out of time this morning.  I got up at my usual time, but had to do some work work before I went to work!  :o)  I just got back from my meeting at the church - training for the pre-registration for Imagine, taking place next month.  It was awesome to see all the volunteers and hear how the Lord is leading and tweaking our process of doing "Imagine!"  It's awesome!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 118: He sets us free from the anguish that others cause us (5-9).  Be sure to give God the credit when He does good things in your life.

Five different times the psalmist uses the praise, "His love endures forever!"  The Love of the Lord lasts forever and never ends.  I am so anxious to see that "love" and know that I am going to live with Him forever!  Awesome!

It is only right to give Him the glory and the credit when He does something spectacular in your life!  It may be a little hard at first, but it gets easier and it feel so good!  Be on the lookout for those "God" happenings!

Have a great rest of the evening!

Love and prayers,
Cheri Lynn

Sunday, September 18th - Psalm 117

Good Sunday Morning!

"Praise the Lord, all you nations; extol him, all you peoples.  For great is his love toward us, and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever.  Praise the Lord."  Psalm 117

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 117: Sometimes, it's the simple and short things that make the most impact.  Praise the Lord for He is great, loving and faithful.

I usually can't type the whole Psalm in the blog, but today it is possible.  As Lisa said, sometimes it is the short and simple that "shout" at you!  I also think it is pretty interesting that this psalm fell to today in our schedule - Sunday - the Lord's Day - the day that we go to our gathering place and the Church praises and worships Him!  Praise the Lord!

I did a little research this morning on the phrase, "Praise the Lord".  The psalms are full of praise and worship and singing, but it isn't until Psalm 9 that the psalmist says, I will praise you , O Lord.  In Psalm 33 the phrase "Praise the Lord" is used for the first time and is used 37 times throughout the rest of the psalms.

Praise is important!  Worship is important!  Corporate worship (with fellow Christians) is important!  God love to hear our praise, our songs and receive our worship.  We serve an awesome God and HE is worthy of our praise!

Praise Him now and forever!  For great is His love and His faithfulness is forever!

See you at church!  :o)

Saturday, September 17th - Psalm 116

Good Morning!

It's brisk outside and feels like fall is here, but I hear that the 70 degree temps are to return tomorrow and throughout the week.  :o)  I love this time of the year!

Let's get right to it this morning as we look at Psalm 116.
Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 116: Makes me think of when I called out to God during the darkest time in my life. Because He was there/assuring me - I could rest (7).
LMRMinistries: Psalm 116: (Extra one today!!!), v 15: This verse brought me a lot of comfort when my mom dies.  I wanted you to be sure to see this truth.

God has thought of everything and has given us Scripture to help us, comfort us, and lead us through any situation.  He loves us and will always provide for us!  As I read His Word, I am amazed at how it speaks to me differently one time than another, depending on the situation or time in my life.  It is always fresh and new!

We but need to call on the Name of the Lord, and He hears us.  We can always find rest in Him - no matter the circumstances.  "Be at rest once more, O my soul, for the Lord has been good to you." vs. 7

We can't repay God for all His blessings and His care, but we can continue to live for Him and serve Him with all that we are and look forward to the day that we will be in His presence and be able to praise Him eternally!

"Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints." vs 15  God welcomes His children HOME!  They are safe in His arms!  This verse provides such comfort!

Take time today to "rest" in Him!  Recharge your spiritual battery!

Have a great day!

Friday, September 16th - Psalm 115

Good morning!

It's Friday!  It has been a long, but amazing week and I am ready to begin my weekend a little early as the kids of Unit 5 get out early today as it's Homecoming!  Last year I forgot to pick Nathaniel up from school until he called me!  I have three alarms and reminders set for today!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 115: Worship of created things is ridiculous compared to worship of the Creator.  Are created things more valuable to you than God?

I find it interesting the description of the "gods" that were worshiped in verses 4 through 8.  They are made of silver and gold - made by men - mouths, but can't speak - eyes, but can't see - ears, but can't hear - noses, but can't smell - hands, but can't touch/feel - feet, but can't walk - and can't use their throats.  Just a heap or lump of metal!
Why would a person worship and adore something that can't give back or interact?
Let's see....a fairly simple box that produces images, sound, and entertainment - a TV; another simple box that can interact and be fun - Wii/X-box; a simple piece of paper that is green and has numbers and words that read, "In God We Trust" - money; and a structure built by men, with many rooms, appliances, yards, etc - house.  Do we value these more than God?  Have some of these things begun to steal your time away from God?

This world offers much that could become an "idol" for us, but we need to keep our eyes on Him and serve Him with all that we are and He has created us to be.

"As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!"

Have a great day!
Love y'all!

Thursday, September 15th - Psalm 114

Good Evening GEMS!

Have you had a good day?  Mine has been pretty emotional, but good just the same.  Today is my Dad's 75th birthday and I really wanted to be with him today, but...  I have talked to him several times and he said he has had a good day! :o)
I accompanied my daughter on her first field trip and we went to the library.  I watched as she interacted with the kids and the adults and I was so very proud.  She is growing up before my very eyes.
After the field trip we went to pick out her new glasses.  I was told once again that it will be like she is seeing the world for the first time when she puts them on as she hasn't been seeing for quite some time.  I just feel so bad!  I have shed many a tear today as I think of her not seeing the world as I do or we do.  I am so thankful for doctors that have the knowledge and tools to diagnose and correct her problems, but most of all grateful that God gave us a good Christian Eye Doctor that cares about children and is helping Derlani.  She should have her glasses next week and will be seeing things a lot clearer!  Praise the Lord!  God is good all the time and all the time God is good!

Lisa had some trouble with her tweet today, but I finally got it when she sent it the second time.  Anyway, I got it and here it is!
Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 114:  Written about a factual time when God intervened for His people.  Makes me think about His deeds that MY "song" would include.

God took care of His people as He brought them out of Egypt even though they wandered in the wilderness for years, He still provided for them.  They had food, they had water, they were protected and then they entered the promised land.  Yes they complained and were punished, but God still took care of them.

God is the very same today as He was in years gone by!  He will be the same tomorrow as He is today because He never changes.  He cares for us and gives us everything we need - HE LOVES US!!  He is calling today - will you come Home?  Follow Me!  I have given my life for you and I long to have a relationship with you as you study My Word and learn to pray and converse with Me.
"Come you weak and heavy laden and I will give you rest!"

Have a great evening!
Love y'all!

Wednesday, September 14th - Psalm 113

Good Evening!

Sorry I am a little later with the blog today, but things have been crazy!  My little one started kid's choir tonight and Nathaniel started Creative Arts - Puppet Ministry!  I am so very proud of them.  It is absolutely fantastic and exciting to be a part of the Family of God!  I love it!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 113: Our holy God cares for all people, especially those whom society overlooks.  What can you do today to show God's care to the poor?

The first three verses of this psalm have been set to music and several of our worship songs use this passage.  We sing one that starts with verse 3 - "From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, let the name of the Lord be praised!"  I love these verses!
Verse 4 and 5 are praise too!  He is exalted over all the nations.  His glory is above all the heavens!  Our God, the One that is enthroned on high!  Hallelujah!

He takes care of the poor and the needy and those women who have not been able to have children.  He places them in a place of prominence and He cares for everyone!
Just as He cares for each of these, He cares for us!!  We are His children and He cares for each one of us!  He hears and answers our prayers.  Sometimes we are the answers to others prayers and He uses us to do His good work!  Look for those opportunities!

What can we do to show God's care to the poor?

Have a great evening!

Todays's Bible Reading - September 14th

Sorry, I am running a little late, but wanted to get today's Bible Reading on here and will put the rest on tonight!  Have a great day!

Wednesday, September 14th

Jeremiah 29:11-14

God promises to rescue His people who seek Him.  You have to make the decision that God is what you want - and go after Him by reading the Bible, praying, getting good Christian people around you, and obeying what God's Word says.

What an awesome evening! 9/13/11

Hey GEMS!

I hope all of you were able to participate this evening in our first meeting and if you weren't, I hope you will come on the 27th!  We had a great time of fellowship, food, teaching and prayer!  It was awesome!

Things are a little different this year in several ways.  First of all, you are going to be able to check yourself and your children in on the computers.  (Just like we do for Kidsview on Sundays.)  Then, the children will all sit together and Adults (from Small Groups) will help them get their food and they will eat together, while the Moms can sit at different tables and fellowship with each other.  It's fun!  The Small Group volunteers take the kids to their specific rooms and the Moms get to settle in for the lesson from Lisa!  I heard one Mom say, "I can't tell you how good it is to have them take the kids to their classroom!"

The teaching was great tonight as well!  I will have all the material on here (The Blog) as soon as I receive it, including the Bible reading schedule.

There are lots of new things that you will see here on the Blog in the next few days.  I think it will enhance your experience and you will have a place to go for just about everything involved with GEMS.

Welcome back GEMS!  It's going to be a great year!

Love y'all!

Tuesday, September 13th - Psalm 112

Good Morning GEMS!

It's here!  It's here!  Our GEMS meetings start tonight at 6:00pm!  I can't wait!!  I will get to see all of you and we can eat together, study together, fellowship and pray together!  Yeah!  Anxiously awaiting this time!!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 112 v1: Fear of the Lord (being in awe; reverence; respect; obedience to Him) leads to us being free from fear in our lives. Memorize vs 7!

Have you found that the longer you are a Christian and study God's Word, that you can't get enough, that you delight in His Word?  As we read, study and learn, we are changed!  We want to live for Him and in Him!

As Lisa mentioned in her tweet, Fear of the Lord is defined as reverence, a deep respect, obedience to Him and to be in awe of Him.  There are many times when I am singing or worshipping that I find myself in complete awe and reverence of God!  I just want to fall to my knees and lie prostrate before Him (that's kind of hard when you are in front of people or on the top riser with the choir).  Sunday was one of those times!
Thinking about His love for me and the sacrifice He made and the grace offered to all - I stand amazed!  For me - for you!  Yes, I fear the Lord and I live my life free of fear!

Psalm 112:7 - "He will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord."

Have a great day!
See y'all tonight!

Monday, September 12th - Psalm 111

Good Morning!

"Praise the Lord!  I will extol the Lord with all my heart..."  Ps. 111:1a  Do you know what the word "extol" means?  According to Webster, it means: to praise highly; glorify!  I will praise highly/glorify the Lord with all my heart!  Amen!

This whole psalm discusses some of the characteristics of God.  His creation - Creator, His righteousness endures forever - Eternal, Gracious and Compassionate, He is our Provider, Powerful, Faithful and Trustworthy, and our Redeemer.
I find it very interesting that in verse 9 it says that His name is Holy and Awesome!

However, verse 10 is the heart of the psalm - "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom."

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 111: Wisdom is a treasure.  You have to care more about what God says to do than what others think or say to do.  Know and apply God's Word.

In order to know what God says, we need to be in His Word!  We need to have that special time with Him each day and connect with Him through His Word - the Bible and through prayer!  It is so important!

The last part of verse 10 says, "To Him belongs eternal praise."  As we spend more and more time with Him, we realize that is all we can do is praise Him with all that we are!  It becomes something that you need to do.  HE is worthy of our praise!

Have a great day!

Sunday, September 11th - Psalm 110

Good evening!

It has been a long day and rather emotional at times.  However, I know Who holds my tomorrow and I am not afraid.  I will not live in fear!

I do, however, remember 9/11/01!  I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing!  I remember hitting my knees and praying for an extended amount of time!  My heart still goes out to those families that lost loved ones and to our brave firemen, military and all first responders that died.  I also thank the service men and women that are serving today to ensure our freedom!  Thank you!

Lisa's tweet:  LMRMinistries: Psalm 110:  This is about the Messiah-Jesus. 1,5 - He is at God's right hand  2 - He rules  4 - He is our priest  5,6 - He will judge all  1 - He is Lord.

Jesus - the Messiah, our Savior, Ruler, Priest, Commander, Eternal, Judge, and Lord!  Those are just a few titles that our Lord and Savior possesses.  He is going to return when God tells Him to come and He will take us HOME!!!!!!!

As the choir was singing the special today, "Hallelujah, We Will Sing", all I could think about and see was His Return!  The music, the drums, the choir singing, the audience participating with raised hands of worship - it was overwhelming!  I sang through tears as they rolled down my face.  I cannot wait for His return!  "What a glorious day that will be, when we see Jesus face to face..."

Have a great week everyone!  I am praying for you and with you!
Love y'all!

Saturday, September 10th - Psalm 109

Good Saturday Morning!

What a great night I had last night with the Upward Flag Football teams.  It is great to be a part of such an organization where the participants can have a lot of fun, learn the game, be encouraged, learn about teamwork (cheerleaders too), and do it all in a Christian atmosphere.  We pray before each game, we have devotions, and we give glory to God!  It's awesome!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 109 (6-15):  I don't pray these bad things on someone who may be talking badly about me; but I do pray they are forced to see the truth.

It is really tough at times to not retaliate for things that are said or done to us because it is human nature.  These are the times that we need to run to God and cling to Him and know that He is our Protector, our Shield, and our Fortress.
Did you notice verse 4?  The psalmist writes:  "but I am a man of prayer."  That is what we need to be - a person of prayer!  We need to pray for our enemies, our accusers, the slanderers, the friend that betrayed us, and others.  We need to pray that they will see the error of thier ways and see the TRUTH!  That they will see JESUS!  Better yet, that they will see Jesus in me - in you - in us!!!

Remember what we have talked about several times in our GEMS meetings and devotions and at church?  You may be the only Jesus that someone sees!  Are we living like that is true?  Am I letting Christ shine through me so that others can see?  Are you?

I am praying for y'all today and hope you have a great day!
Blessings!

Friday, September 9th - Psalm 108

Good Morning!

It's Friday and the weekend is about to begin!  How will you spend your weekend? We have games, lunch dates, errands and CHURCH!  It's gonna be a great weekend.

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 108:Victorious living: Having a 'steadfast heart' no matter your circumstances.  How?  KNOWING that God is able, even if you don't see how.

I think this Psalm was written for me!  The first five verses are my song!  I praise Him all of my days - early in the morning and all day through!  There have been several songs and choruses taken from these verses and He is worth of our praise!
With God, all things are possible!  He cares for us and He loves us!  We may not always understand or see how, but He knows and is able to do incredible things!

There is a song out now that talks about blessings and answers to prayer.  We may not see because we are looking for a specific answer and God answers in a different way.  We may have to weather the storms to see the rainbow, but we will!  We are VICTORIOUS!!  I've read the last chapter and we WIN!!!  God is going to send His Son to come and take us HOME!!!  Yeah!  Hallelujah!!!  Maranatha - Come Lord Jesus, quickly!

"Be exalted, O God, above the heavens, and let Your Glory be over all the earth!"  Ps. 108:5

I saw a bumper sticker once that read:    God said;
                                                          I believe it;
                                                          That settles it!

"With God we will gain the victory..." Ps. 108:13a

Have a great day!

Thursday, September 8th - Psalm 107

Good Evening!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 107: There are 4 groups in spiritual distress: the lost, imprisoned, sick and tossed around.  Cry out-v 6, 13, 19, 28.  He delivers and saves.

Did you notice that Psalm 107 starts with the very same words as did Psalm 106?  "Give thanks to the Lord for He is good; His love endures forever."  His love is greater than anything we can imagine.  He loves each one of us with an unconditional and unending love!  Wow!

The verse that is repeated in here 4 times, much like the "Cry Out" verse that Lisa mentioned is: "Let them give thanks to the Lord for His unfailing love and His wonderful deeds for men."  It is verses 8, 15, 21, and 31.

The last verse asks us to consider the great love of the Lord.  Have you thought about it?  I am so humbled every time I do sit and think about how much He loves me!
My daughter have a little game that we play that started out like any other game, but has taken on new and deeper meaning.  I will say to Derlani, "Mommy loves you so much!"  Derlani will in turn say, "I love you lots too Mommy!"  We keep expressing our love to each other in different phrases and finally (the first time we played) I said, "Derlani, I love you the most!"  Now, when I say I love you to her, she quickly comes back with the phrase, "But I love you the most Mommy!"
I began to think about that as I read these psalms this week.  Don't I love Jesus the most?  Yes, I love my children more than I can express, but I wouldn't have them if it wasn't for Him!  I do love Him the most!  As Derlani and I play our game, we also remember the unconditional love God/Jesus/Holy Spirit have for us.

Jesus, I love You the most?  Do you?

Sleep well!
Love y'all!

Wednesday, September 7th - Psalm 106

Good Evening GEMS!

"Praise the Lord.  Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever."  Ps. 106:1

What an awesome verse.  I love to sing His praises and to thank Him for all the many blessings He has poured out upon me.  His love is never-ending!  He loves me!  Remember the chorus we sing to the children?  'Jesus loves me this I know; for the Bible tells me so. Little ones to Him belong; they are weak, but He is strong.  Yes, Jesus loves me...the Bible tells me so.'

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 106:One small sin can turn into a lifestyle of sin. For Israel, it started with not putting God first and led to murder. Is God first?

As you read the Psalm it tells the history of Israel and how sin became a way of life and they turned their backs on God.  God loved them so much that He continued to show Himself to them and they returned to Him and put Him first!

God wants to be first in our lives too!  Is He?

Have a great day!

Tuesday, September 6th - Psalm 105

Good Evening!

Wow!  What a great time we had at the kickoff of GEMS!  Lots of GEMS and Little gems (kids) and food, face-painting, bouncy house, DJ and dancing, and lots of fun!  It was a little chilly when the sun started to set, but it was a great evening!
I was a little late getting there as I had an eye appointment with my daughter.  You know, I am amazed at the knowledge and technology we have today, because God gifted some to be physicians, some to be preachers/teachers, some to be mechanics, and some to be eye doctors.  Wow!  I am blown away!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 105: This is about remembering what the Lord did for His people.  That gives us confidence that He will meet our needs w/ 'wonderful acts'.

Amazing history!  God took and takes care of every detail.  He leaves nothing undone.  He cares today just as He did years ago!  His love for us is seen each an every day.  Verse 1 says "Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name."  Then as we look to the end, He finished off with the phrase: "Praise the Lord!"  He is most worthy of praise!

See ya tomorrow!

Monday, September 5th - Psalm 104

Happy Labor Day!

Good Evening Everyone!

I hope you have had a wonderful day of fun and enjoyed the "long" weekend!  I had a hard time concentrating today as I know tomorrow I will get to see my GEMS again!!  Kick-off time at 6pm at Eastview Christian Church for lots of food and fun!  Hope you can make it!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 104/19-23: God's creation never stops-there is activity 24 hours a day.  Yet another mirrored reflection of God-He is constantly at work.

Look at the descriptive words used for God:  very great, splendor and majesty, wrapped in light, clouds as chariots, rides on the wings of the wind, flames of fire His servants, the waters listen and obey, boundaries, waters the earth, the earth is satisfied, wise and He created all, and may His glory endure forever!!

Verses 33 and 34 are my prayer: "I will sing to the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.  May my meditation be pleasing to Him, as I rejoice in the Lord."
Did you find a prayer for you in this passage or is it the same one?  Whatever the passage, sing it to Him now - Praise His name forever and ever!  He longs to hear your voice of praise!

See y'all tomorrow night!
Love ya!

Sunday, September 4th - Psalm 103

Good Afternoon!

What an absolutely gorgeous day!  Services were awesome this morning and I have had some great time with the kids today!  I love Sundays!  I love to worship and praise with my church family!  It's been a great day!

As I read Lisa's tweet this morning it was refreshing!  As I read the Psalm for the day earlier, it was comforting!  God cares about us - His children - He loves us!!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 103: My fav! As you read-look at the amazing things God does for those who love Him - Grace.  In love, He expects us to obey His Word - v 17.

Look at verses 1 and 2 - "Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise His Holy name.  Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits."  The psalms are full of praise!  This is what I want to do - praise Him with everything that I am!

In verses 3 through 16 look at what God does for us:  - forgives all our sins; heals all diseases; redeems our life; crowns us with love and compassion; satisfies our desires with good things; He is compassionate and gracious; slow to anger; abounding in love; He does not treat us as our sins deserve; as high as the heavens above the earth - so great is His love for those that fear Him; as far as the east from the west - our sins have been removed; He has compassion with us His children; and He loves us!!!

The psalmist starts the psalm with praise and ends the psalm in praise!  The Lord our God is worthy of praise!  Hallelujah!

Have a great afternoon and evening of this beautiful Lord's Day!

Saturday, September 3rd - Psalm 102

Good Evening!

I thought I would try and write a bit before I went to the Call Center this morning, but got involved in some other activities and didn't get it done.  It was a very busy day, but rewarding.

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 102: It is easy to choose to become isolated when we go through trials.  Reach out to God and to those He has given you for support.

This Psalm was really encouraging to me in many ways.  It contains praise and worship and general encouragement for all!  I have lived this psalm.

A few months ago I was really going through some tough times with things from my past that were brought back to my memory and made me feel feelings that I had not felt for a very long time.  Feelings that scared me and yet made me feel desperate and hurt.  It was very painful!  It would have been very easy for me to clam up and just try and bury the feelings and fear yet again, but I didn't!  I turned to two very close friends and sisters and asked for prayer and also talked it out.  It was not instantaneous, but I began to feel a peace and love that drove the bad out and filled me with love and understanding and a peace that only HE can give!
I thank Him daily for giving me sisters and "family" that can help me through and support me through the tough times and the good times.  HE IS FAITHFUL!  There is nothing better than turning to the Family of God for help, for support, for fellowship and for love!

Remember we are here for each other!  We are family!

Love y'all!

Friday, September 2nd - Psalm 101

Good evening!

A very long day, but rewarding!  There is something to be said for giving to others and to "help".  I received a tweet from Max Lucado this week that rang true for me: "What on earth r u doing 4 heaven's sake?"  How do you answer that question?  Think about it!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 101: Blameless = a person of moral goodness.  Things will come along that will test your goodness.  Make the decision to do them God's way.

Am I blameless before God?  I want to think so, but I too fall and stumble, but I get back up and He is faithful to forgive and I walk with Him daily!  There are so many tests and temptations in today's world and I pray that we can each remain strong and rely on our Lord and Savior, our Guide and our God!  There is no other and I will praise Him forever.  I will sing of His love and praise Him with all that I am

Let's praise Him together!

Thursday, September 1st - Psalm 100

Good Evening!

This is one of my favorite Psalms and is probably the first entire chapter that I memorized.  I still remember it!  It is full of joy and music and praise!  We are called the sheep of His pasture.  He made us and we are His!!  His love endures forever and His faithfulness continues through all generations.  He always has been, is and always will be - forever!!
Wow, what an awesome God we serve!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 100: I think of how I abandon myself in worship to Him.  What if the whole earth came before Him in abandoned worship?  Praying for that.

I am and will continue to pray for the same Lisa.  What an awesome day that will be!  Everyone in complete abandon worshipping our Lord and Savior!  Hallelujah!  Can you imagine?  Every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord!  We ought to start practicing!  Come before Him with Thanksgiving!  Come before Him with praise!  Shout and serve with gladness in your heart!  Serve and worship with great abandon!

Maranatha!  Come Lord Jesus!
Rejoicing and praising Him together!
