Thursday, June 23rd - Psalm 29

Good morning GEMS!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 29: God formed creation; therefore, He is more powerful than it. He, who can handle the power of creation, can handle our lives.

As I read the first few verses this morning, I was reminded of the worship song that we sing at church that was written by our music director.  "Ascribe to the Lord, the glory due His name."  Psalm 29:2a
The imagery in this passage is amazing!  The demonstration of power through the words concerning the "voice" allows you to almost see the passage.
"over the waters...thunders...powerful...majestic...breaks the cedars...breaks in pieces...strikes with flashes of lightening...shakes...twists and strips the oaks...gives strength and blesses."

Reading this Psalm again, my thoughts went to the natural disasters our world has experienced this year - tsunami, earth-quakes, tornadoes, floods, and fires.  The power behind each is amazing!  I, as I am sure many of you, have seen first hand the destruction of a tornado and a hurricane and floods.  Trees are stripped of their bark and some trees become like tooth picks!  Pieces of the tree or wood from the houses are driven through pieces of marble without even cracking it.  The power behind those storms is great, but the power of our God is greater!!
As Lisa said, God spoke and ALL creation was formed - existed!  HE is over all!  How could we think that HE couldn't handle our lives?  He loves us and is willing to walk with us through every moment of our lives - guiding, leading, teaching, blessing, and when the going gets rough, He carries us!  It doesn't get any better than that!  I give HIM full control!

As you go through your day, pause and look at the intricate detail of HIS creation and know HIS power!

Have an awesome day!
Cheri Lynn
