Saturday, December 31st - Isaiah 12:2

Good Morning!

Welcome to the last day of December and the last day of 2011!  Has it been a good year for you?  What would you change if you had the opportunity? 
I am looking forward to spending some time tonight with some friends and ringing the New Year in early (10:00pm) with a communion service.  It should be fun and what better way to start the New Year than remembering my Lord and Savior gathered around His Table - the bread representing His Body that was broken for us and the juice, representing His blood that was shed!

Trust and not be afraid - HE is my strength and my song!  Amen!  I have to admit there are many times I try to do it on my own, but I always run back to Him and find the strength to carry on and the joy I have in Him!

We serve the one and only true God!  There is no other!  He is the great Creator!   ALL things were made by Him!  We serve an AWESOME God!

Thursday, December 29th - Ephesians 1:3-14

Good Morning!

Back to work today!  The kids are going to be together today and are loving that idea!  I am pretty tired, but I think it is just the "let down" of all the happenings this week!

I know what the word adoption means!  Many of you do too!  I am so very thankful and grateful that God chose me and I am adopted into His family as a daughter. 
My kids are the most precious gifts that I have ever received.  I love them so much, but I do love Jesus more!  Both of my children have asked Jesus into their hearts and Nathaniel has been baptized as an outward sign of his commitment. 
Both of them are terrific prayers and I am in awe at times at the prayers they say!  Nathaniel has always prayed like an adult, but Derlani has watched and learned and she is doing the same thing.  They are deep!
I pray daily that I will be the Mom that I need to be to raise them as a man and woman of God!  May they see Jesus shining through me as we do life together!

We are forgiven and we have redemption through Jesus Christ!  We are CHOSEN!  Hallelujah and Praise the Lord!  I will sing His praises forever!

It is good to be home!  We had an uneventful drive back and return with new energy and excitement for the New Year!

Tuesday, December 27th - 1 John 1:7-9

Good Afternoon!

The weather is still nice here in Missouri and I am loving this vacation.  It has been good just to spend time with my folks.  We will head back tomorrow morning.

Verse 7 of this passage was a chorus I sang in college (Johnson Bible College) and we did it like a round.  It was one of our favorites and we did it many a night at dorm devotions.  Hearing all the girls sing in parts and with the love of Jesus in their voices was amazing.  We truly felt the fellowship of Christian sisters! 

If we confess our sins we ARE forgiven and that is God!  There was a saying when I was in High School that went like this:  "God said it - I believe it - that settles it!"  That is true of His forgiveness!

Monday, December 26th - John 1:29-34

Good Morning!

It was a bit lat getting up this morning.  We had such a great day yesterday and I just let the kids sleep this morning.  I love being down here with my folks as my Dad and I get up early and have coffee together and just talk.  Great times and memories!
My sister and her family left for Florida today and will get there sometime tomorrow.  The kids and I will head back to Illinois Wednesday!

Jesus is referred to as the "Lamb" of God as He gave himself as a sacrifice for us.  He is also called the Great Shepherd who takes care of His flock. 
The tears roll as I think and watch Jesus on the Cross of Calvary through the movie, "The Passion".  As I watch the torture and the beatings He took for me, I am moved to tears.  I don't deserve that love, but He gives it freely!  It was all a part of God's plan - that He (Jesus) would shed His blood to cover and forgive my sins and yours.  That is GRACE!

Stop and re-read the passage for today - the "Lamb" of God who is the Son of God!

Sunday. December 25th - Merry CHRISTmas!

Merry CHRISTmas!

What a day!  It was a little strange not going to church today, but last night was awesome.  We celebrated with the family today and it has been a great day!  We have laughed and cried and prayed together.  It has been wonderful!

It has been our family tradition to read the Christmas Story on Christmas Eve, even if we had attended a Christmas Eve service.  Just to listen as my Dad reads stirs up so many emotions.  I look at the story and can't believe that God loved us and loves us that much. 

I read a couple of quotes that really brought it home today.  The first was from Max Lucado and he said, "Happy Birthday Jesus.  If only we'd known, Your manger was a Throne.  Come soon, dear King.  Come soon to take us home." 
The second was a quote from Greg Laurie: "History swings on the hinge of the door of a Stable in Bethlehem!"

Wow!  It was all God's Plan and the world was changed forever!  His Plan of Salvation was put in motion.  Have you ever wondered what Mary and Joseph's conversation might have been that night at the delivery of the King? 
We used to listen to a record (yes I am that old!) called, "The Night the Animals Talked".  The Christmas Story was told from their point of view and it was wonderful.  All the animals knew He was the King and they gathered close to keep Him warm.

"Away in a manger, no crib for a bed;  the little Lord Jesus laid down His sweet head.
The stars in the sky looked down where He lay; the little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay."

Saturday, December 24th - additional post

Good evening!

I am just so full of joy and love this evening.  We got home from the candlelight Christmas Eve service and my heart is overflowing!  It was a great time with family and friends in the presence of God Almighty!

I had the privilege and honor to sing for the services and loved lifting my voice in praise.  I sang "O Holy Night" and "We Shall Behold Him".  It was so moving to see all the candle lights and glowing faces as I sang the last one and thought of the time when He - Jesus - will come back and take us HOME forever!

I had taken the accompaniment tape for "Come On and Ring Those Bells" which our family has sung together for years.  My Dad ended the service by telling the congregation that we were going to sing that chorus and that I would lead in the verses.  He asked if anyone knew it and my family raised their hands and the church song leader.  
(I had kept in mind our challenge for the day in doing good and sharing with others.)  I turned around and asked Jeremy (song leader) if he really knew the song and he responded he did.  I said, "Come on and sing it with me Jeremy!"  You would have thought I had given him a thousand dollars!
We sang that song and had a great time.  I watched Jeremy as we sang and the smile that was on his face - Jesus was shining so bright through His servant!  Jeremy probably thanked me ten times for letting him sing with me.  It was my honor!  He is a great kid!

Well, I need to go and get ready for tomorrow and "Santa".

Good Morning!

I am excited about this evening as I get to sing for the Christmas Eve service where my Dad is preaching.  It is always a pleasure and honor to sing for God's people.  I love to sing and praise my Heavenly Father and will continue as long as I am able.

Isn't it amazing to see all those who are doing good and sharing this time of year.  It just seems like there are a few more smiles and giving hearts at this time of year.  I pray that I am that way 365 days a year!  I want nothing more than to please my God.

Good Morning!

Another beautiful day here in Missouri!  It is hard to beleive that it is two days before Christmas and it is in the high 50's.  Wow!  Guess there won't be a "white" Christmas here this year!

Good Afternoon!

My schedule is a little off and so I am not real sure when I will write the blogs.  I am really on vacation and so I am taking it easy and soaking in the beauty of His creation down here at Lake of the Ozarks!  The temperatures are quite warm for this time of year as well and so we are taking advantage of that!

The kids and I came down to my folks in Missouri today and will be here for the Christmas Holidays.  It is always great to spend special times with family.  My folks were glad to see the kids and me too!  :o)

Tuesday, December 20th - Philippians 3:12-14

Good Morning!

It's Tuesday and hopefully we will see y'all tonight at GEMS!  Can't wait!

Relationships are tough at times as we want them to grow and flourish quickly, but they all take time.  Our relationship with God is not much different as Lisa said and as our scripture indicates.  Even Paul said that he was not yet "there" and made perfect, but he pressed on each day for that which Christ promised.  We need to do the same!

We accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and begin a relationship with God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit - our helper.  We begin to grow and our relationship begins to grow.  As we read His Word, fellowship with our brothers and sisters in church, share and talk in Small Groups, spend more and more time in prayer (conversation with God), our relationship becomes stronger and we press on toward the prize that He promised - eternal life with Him - perfection.

We need to come to Him, knowing He doesn't expect perfection from the start.  We, as Paul, "need to press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called us heavenward in Christ Jesus."

Monday, December 19th - 1 Peter 1:3-9

Good evening!

I apologize for being later with the post today, but it is getting kind of crazy around here.  We are taking off Wednesday morning at 6:30 or so and I still have a lot to get done.  Oh well!  :o)

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: 1 Peter 1:3-9: Joy - it's what we crave, but it's not found in the things of this world.  Stuff makes us happy for a minute, but joy never leaves.

These verses are packed full of awesome news.  It all starts with "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!"  Look at the descriptive words and story that unfolds:  "His great mercy" - "New birth" - "living hope" - "resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead" - "an inheritance" - "never perish, spoil or fade" - "shielded by God's power" - "salvation ... revealed in the last time".
We have new life and living hope through the resurrection of Jesus and have been given an inheritance that will not perish, but is shielded by God and will be revealed in the last days - Jesus return!

The story continues in verses 6 through 9.  We can "rejoice" even though we suffer great "trials" so that our "faith" may be proved "genuine" and will result in "praise, glory  and honor" when Jesus is revealed.  We don't "see" Him, but we love Him and believe in Him and we are filled with an "Inexpressible and glorious" joy.  The "goal" of our faith - the "salvation" of our souls.  (paraphrase is mine as taken from the verses mentioned)

What better way to start our work week, knowing that we have inexpressible joy!  Be sure to let Him shine through you as you go about your work week and prepare to celebrate His birth in a few days.

Sunday, December 18th - James 4:7-10

Good Morning and Happy Lord's Day!

I hope you have all had a great start to your day!  Maybe I will see you at church.  I hope so!  Can you believe next Sunday is Christmas?  My kids and I will be down in Missouri with family!  It's going to be a great Christmas as we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior!

When we are in a relationship with God we are in submission to Him.  We have agreed to submit to Him and most of us have expressed that outwardly through baptism.  We submit our lives to Him and do His work - sharing the Gospel wherever we may go.  We try daily to be submissive, humble and compliant.  We submit to God, the Ultimate and the Great I AM!!

I love verse 10:  "Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up."

Good Morning!

I was out with the puppy this morning at 4:55am and it was really warm.  I checked the weather temperatures for today and I was out at the warmest part of today - 53 degrees!  It is suppose to continue to drop all day today and be in the high 20's tonight!  Burr!  Welcome back Winter!

Father God, I thank you for this day and for the many blessings you have given.  I thank You for my children and for their faith in You and how they are bright lights that shine for You wherever they might be.  I love You Lord, and I will sing Your praise with all that I am.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Tuesday, December 13th - Psalm 145:17-21

Good Morning!

Can you believe this weather?  I went out at 5:00am to let the puppy out and it felt like Spring.  I love it!  Yes, I would still like snow for Christmas, but I would prefer it comes after I get to Missouri!  :o)

God loves us!  He made us and He loves us! 

Look at verse 19:  "He fulfills the desires of those who fear him, he hears their cry and saves them."  Wow!  As Lisa mentioned in her tweet, the "fear" mentioned here is to be in awe of Him.  God takes care of us! 

I love the fact that the first and last verse are PRAISE.  Let's praise the Lord today in all that we do and say!  Praises to His name!

Monday, December 12th - Psalm 145:8-16

Good Morning!

We started our week with giving praise to our Heavenly Father and today we start our work week doing the same.  Praise Him for who He is and what He has done for you.

I love this Psalm.  It is full of praise and the attributes of our God - the one and only True God!  Just in the few verses here, look at the many attributes of God:  abundant goodness, righteous, gracious, compassionate, slow to anger, rich in love, good to all, mighty, glorious, everlasting, faithful, powerful and provider of everything.
Wow, that is just a list from the verses we read today. 
Read the whole Psalm and see what else you can find.  Think about all that He is and all that He gives to us - to you!  Pray that others may see some of His attributes through you.

Sunday, December 11th - Psalm 145:1-7

Good Morning!

Last night was awesome as we gave our last Christmas praise offering through our Christmas concert.  The church was full yet again and we all enjoyed praising our Father for His great gift so many years ago.  Jesus came as a baby and grew and walked among us and then gave His life for us, only to rise and return to the Father and wait for the day when He will come back and take us HOME.  I praise His Name for as long as I have breath to do so!  I am so happy to be a child of the King!

It is a second service morning for us as we went out after the concert and didn't get home until very late.  We had a great time with friends though and it was very relaxing and refreshing.  We were already on a high and it just continued!

I love to praise the Lord through song, through my guitar playing, through reading His Word... I just love to praise!  These last two nights were awesome in that all of our practice and rehearsals came together to give Him praise!  We were able to share that with thousands of people and help lead them in praise as well! 

These first seven verses of Psalm 145 are full of praise.  They describe our God!  "Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise!" 

Praise Him today and thank Him for all His good deeds.

Saturday, December 10th - Psalm 69:13-18

Good afternoon!

Sorry I am a little later today, but  last night was amazing and exhausting and a first for me.  We have practiced all week, with many late nights, for the concert last night and it was all worth every minute.  It was such a pleasure and honor to praise the Lord and share our gifts with so many.  The church was full and we all worshipped together in praise! 
Yes, I am exhausted, but a good tired!  I didn't sleep real well last night as I was missing one of my children.  My daughter went to her first sleep over!  She had a wonderful time and Mommy missed her terribly!  I am sure there will be many more rough nights for Mommy and exciting nights for daughter!  :o)

Do you know that you can call on God anytime -  day or night?  He is always there!  He will never leave you nor forsake you.  He has the answers to all your questions.  He is our Father and He provides and cares for us!  Whether in times of joy, times of sadness, or times of distress - we can call on Him and He will answer!

Friday, December 9th - Hebrews 4:16

Good Morning!

Happy Friday!  I don't know about you, but this has been a long week!  However, tonight we will present the first of two Christmas concerts and give all the glory to God!  I love singing songs of praise, but Christmas songs are really special!

Not only does He invite us to approach His throne, but we are to approach with confidence.  We can come to His Throne with confidence that He will listen and hear us and we will find grace and mercy.

God is good all the time - ALL the time God is good!

Thursday, December 8th - 1 Corinthians 12:21

Good Evening,

I apologize for being late today, but my kids and I have had some late nights. You have been in my prayers though and I hope you are looking forward to another great weekend of fun and time to worship together on Sunday!

Isn't the human body amazing?  God created Adam and Eve and He created them in His Image.  Each part of the body has a purpose and it all works together so that we might live!  The analogy here to the body of the Church is so important.  We each have our own responsibility or thing to do in God's Kingdom.  Not one part is more important than another and we are ONE body! 
Look at verse 26:  "If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it."  Just think what the church could do if we really took hold of this verse and practiced it?  Encouragement - support - praying together - crying together - praising God together - serving together - sharing the Gospel together - being ONE body and giving the glory to God. 

"Now, you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it."  1 Corinthians 12:27

Wednesday, December 7th - John 1:12-13

Good Morning!

Late night last night and early morning!  It is going to be a long week!  However, I thank God that He gives me strength and rest.  God is good!!

We are children of God!!  God is our Father!  He loves us so much and He gave His son, so that we might have the hope of eternal life and live with Him forever!  I saw a poster one time that had a picture of Christ on the cross and the caption read:  "I love you this much" - and He stretched out His arms and gave His life for me."  Thank goodness it didn't stop there as He arose from the grave and conquered death and we can now live with Him forever!

That IS love!  I echo the prayer that Lisa wrote:  "Lord - today - please show me how You love me."  Some days and times, we just need to be reminded.

Tuesday, December 6th - 1 Thessalonians 5:17

Good Morning!

I will add a little more to this later today, but wanted to at least get Lisa's tweet and the verse posted.

The verse today is the shortest verse in the Bible and yet very powerful!  "Pray continually."  1 Thessalonians 5:17  Some translations have it as - "Pray without ceasing."

What a great day it has been!  Did y'all enjoy GEMS?  I missed you, but I needed to go to choir practice and get ready for the concert this weekend.  I did manage to see several of you and get some hugs!  :o)

So did you get the verse for today memorized?  :o)  "Pray continually."  1 Thessalonians 5:17  What does it mean?  Is this even possible?  I truly think that as Christians we can strive to do this, as it means to always be in an attitude of prayer. You think of something that you need to pray about and you do; you pass by a person and you "pray" for them; your working away and thoughts of an upcoming event come to mind and you are praying.  It can be words, thoughts, or prayers, but you are in an attitude of prayer always.  Stop and think as you go through your day tomorrow.  Are you "praying continually"?

Saturday, December 3rd - Colossians 3:1-10

Good Evening!

Wow!  What a blessed day!  To witness God's Church serving together as one body to those that were/are in need was amazing today!  Lives were changed!  Hallelujah and praise the Lord!

We are new creatures in Christ and we put off the old and put on the new!  Verses 9 and 10 say it well:  "Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator."

I was witness to lives being changed today, including mine.  We were being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator!  What an amazing day at IMAGINE!  We served lots of people/families, relationships were formed, tears were shed, hugs were given, laughter could be heard around every corner, prayers were offered and lifted up, lots of food - coats - and toys were given, and it was all done in the name of Jesus and to the glory of God!

I was so honored and humbled to serve today along side my brothers and sisters in Christ.  I lift my voice and my arms in praise for what HE has done!  To God be the glory!!

Friday, December 2nd - Matthew 18:12-13

God cares about each one of His creation.  He has told us to go and share His Gospel with everyone we meet and to tell them what a difference He can make in their lives.  He CAN fill them with love and grace. 

Do you remember when you asked Jesus to be your Lord and Savior?  I wanted to shout it from the mountain top and run and tell everyone I knew.  We need to pray for and remember the lost and share the Gospel on a personal level.  Share with that one about how your life has been changed by the one and only True God!  Tell them how His Son came and gave His life for them and that on the 3rd day arose to conquer death and give us the hope of Eternal Life.  Continue to share and express the comfort and peace you have because of the Holy Spirit in your life.  Get excited and look to the day when you can celebrate with the Church that one more has come to Christ!

Get excited!  Be dangerous and share the Gospel with someone today!

Thursday, December 1st - Proverbs 18:4, 10:11, Galatians 5:22-23

Good Morning!

December 1st - the first day of the last month of 2011!  Can you believe how fast this year has gone?  It seems like just yesterday we were ringing in the new year of 2011!  Wow! 

"The words of a man's mouth are deep waters, but the fountain of wisdom is a bubbling brook!"  Proverbs 18:4  "The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, but violence overwhelms the mouth of the wicked."  Proverbs 10:11  "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.  Against such things there is no law."  Galatians 5:22-23

Do you have a fountain of life flowing from your mouth?  What about the Fruit of the Spirit?  We all have these, but do we demonstrate them on a daily basis?  Do we share the love of Christ with others?
Look at the different parts of the Fruit we are to bear: 
    - Love, an unconditional love that sees no boundaries, God's love
    - Joy, inner joy that is always present, even when we are feeling sad or down
    - Peace, a peace that passes all understanding, a calm
    - Patience, knowing that Christ will return to take His people HOME
    - Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-control

Wow!  What wonderful gifts and attributes we have been given and need to let shine in our lives.  Will you shine today?

Good Morning!

A little chilly out this morning, but not to bad for the last day of November.  It is supposed to stay in the low 40's for a few more days and then into winter temps!  :o(  Winter is the only season I am not really fond of, but I do love watching the kids play in the snow!  :o)

The Holy Spirit is that Living Water that flows within - our help!  He intercedes for us when we just don't know what to pray.  He flows through every issue in our lives and will help us make the right decisions and lead us in the right direction.  He will not help or lead, though, unless we ask and allow Him to lead.

Life is "easier" if I allow the Spirit to help and walk with me through every aspect or issue in my life.  Streams of Living Water flow within me because I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, my Savior and Lord!  Hallelujah!

Good Morning!

I apologize for the posts being a little later than usual, but it is a little different working from down here with my folks.  :o)  We have another gorgeous day and the Lake is absolutely beautiful.  Blue skies, beautiful sunshine and warmer temps - I love it!

Thursday, November 24th - 1 Chronicles 16:34

Happy Thanksgiving!

What a gorgeous day here at the Lake!  It is warm and beautiful sunshine!  We had a traditional holiday breakfast for the Oakley's with homemade pecan rolls and bacon!  It was delicious and the coffee was great too!  :o)  We will have a great family day with a big lunch and probably lots of conversation and games.

Our family has a tradition on Thanksgiving that we go around the table before saying grace and tell one thing that we are thankful for in the current year.  The kids are included and I am always humbled by what they say.  "I am thankful for:  my freedom to worship God; the Mommy that God gave me; health and strength in my family; God's answers to our prayers;" and one of my favorites, "the opportunity to tell others about Jesus and to share His love!"

Wednesday, November 23rd - John 6:27-35

Good evening!

Hello from Camdenton, Missouri!  The kids and I left early this morning and drove down to Mom and Dad's.  It is great to be with family for the Thanksgiving holiday and weekend.  I thought about and prayed for all of you as I drove today.  I like to pray as I drive as it brings such peace and is a great time to just talk to God. 

Our verses today are packed with wisdom that requires action.

Jesus IS all we need!  He cares for us and provides all the we need to live here on earth, this side of heaven and eternity.  We may not have everything we want, but God does provide everything we need.

Wow!  Pretty good list!  If we thought about these things all the time, there would be no time for worry, doubt, etc.  Let's try it!  Let's take today or tomorrow and concentrate on thinking on these things mentioned in this list.  Let's see what kind of difference we notice in our attitudes, our actions and even in how we feel.

Sunday, November 20th - Philippians 4:13

Good Afternoon!

Philippians 4:13 - "I can do everything through him who gives me strength."

I love this whole passage.  I like what Paul says in verse 12: "...I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation..."  I want to be like that!  I want to trust and lean on Christ so much that I am content in any and all situations! 

Memorize this verse and repeat it daily!  He is with us and He gives us strength.

Have a great Sunday!  Please remember our brothers and sisters in Nairobi, Kenya as the Mutimba slums were bull-dozed yesterday and the church, the school and the orphanage buildings are gone as well as all the "homes".  Over 30,000 are homeless.  Please pray for them and for GOYA Ministries and for Eastview and our partnership.  May we listen and go as God directs.  For such a time as this we are ready!

Good Morning!

Matthew 6:27 - "Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?"

Wow!  That is pretty stright forward!  Are you a worrier?

I love this passage of scripture and I have several of these verses memorized.  Another great one to memorize with this one is verse 33.  This is what we are to do always!  Seek first His kingdom and righteousness and He promises to take care of us.

In a world of materialism, it is hard, but God does provide everything we need.  It may not be everything we want, but it is all we need!  I have to admit that there are times I begin to worry about things (big things) and then I am reminded - God is in control and He cares for me and He takes care of me!

This is one of my most favorite verses in God's Word.  I have a Bible Cover with this verse on the front, I have a book mark with this verse, I have had shirts with it and most of all I have it in my heart!  I love this verse, as it is so encouraging and so simple!  God gives us His strength and we can continue - no matter what!  We rest in Him!

My hope is in Him and I will soar on wings like eagles and I will run and not grow weary, I will walk and not faint - I am a child of the King and I will share His Gospel wherever I go.

Thursday, November 17th - Romans 8:28

Good Morning!

Take a look at this verse:  "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."  Romans 8:28

I learned this verse when I was young while in summer camp.  I really didn't understand it at all, but knew that it was a great promise. 
As I read it now and remember the many times I have quoted it and used it to help others, it is comforting.  The word that really pops for me today is "all"!  In ALL things God works!  In the small as well as the big.  God can take our attempts to share His Word, our stutterings and stammerings and make them work.

This verse is talking about us - "those who love Him" - and we do love Him, and "who have been called according to His purpose." - we have all been called to share His Gospel and to be His children. 

Praise to His Name!  He can even use my mistakes for good.  I love you Lord!

This promise is so true!  I have used it many times and know that God does care and takes care of His Children.  He cares about the little stuff as well as the big stuff.  Every little detail of every situation...HE cares!

Monday, November 14th - Romans 8:31

Good Morning!

Amen!  If you read the passage that Lisa suggested, there are some great verses that flow right along the path of yesterday's verse and today's.  Look at verse 32 that talks about Jesus and His death - God let His own Son die and rise again.  Take verse 33 - "It is God who justifies."  Verse 34, Christ is interceding for us at the Throne of God.  One of my favorites is verse 35, "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?  Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?"  Then in verses 37 through 39 are the best. 
Take a moment to read these verses and then pray.  These are powerful promises and declarations.  We ARE more than conquerors and nothings can separate us from the love of God!!  Hallelujah!  Praises to His Name!

Good Morning!

Happy Veteran's Day!  Thank you to all those in our military that have served and are serving to keep our country safe and free! 
Did you notice the date today?  11/11/11  That is kind of special too!  What will you be doing at 11/11/11 11:11am or 11:11pm?  I know where I will be for the first and probably the second, but not exactly what I will be doing at each.  Interesting!

Today we finish the Psalms!  Psalm 150 is the last Chapter in the Book of Psalms.  It has been quite a ride and very interesting!  What next?  Be sure to read to the end today!  :o)

Thursday, November 10th - Psalm 149

Good Morning!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 149: I always love the idea of singing a new song. God is so amazing that we should have something new to celebrate every day.  What's new?

Have you ever been reading the Word and you start praying about what you are reading or actually reading the passage with a "beat"?  That is a new song!  Praising God comes in many shapes and forms.  Singing is not the only form of praise, although it is the most thought of and used.  I have had friends that praise God with their instruments - drums, trumpet, saxophone, and piano.  I have witnessed praise through rap, through prayer, and through acts of kindness.  All were done in praise to the Father!  Look at verse 3: "Let them praise His name with dancing and make music to Him with tambourine and harp." 

I pray that I live verse 6: "May the praise of God be in their mouths..."  I want to always have His praise upon my lips and showing in my face and with my life.  I love to praise God through song, whether an old hymn, a childhood chorus, or one compose.  I will sing to Him a new song!  I will proclaim His glory among the nations and I will await His return with expectation!  Praises be to the One True God, to my Savior, to my Rock!  I love you Lord!

Good Morning!

What a great night at GEMS we enjoyed.  Check out the two week reading plan and begin memorizing the verses there.  You may already know some of them, but a review is always good!  :o)

Verses 1 to 6 demand praise from the heavens - sun, moon and stars - and how they were created by His command.
Verses 7 to 10 demand praise from all the earth and it's animals and all of nature.
Verses 11 to 14 demand praise from Kings, Princes, rulers, young and old - all people - His people!

Good Morning!

Let's look at the aspects of nature that God controls and are mentioned in this psalm.
-  determines the number of the stars and knows their names
-  covers the sky with clouds and supplies the earth with rain
-  makes grass grow on the hills
-  provides food for the cattle and ravens (all animals)
-  supplies man with wheat
-  spreads the snow like wool
-  scatters the frost like ashes
-  hurls down His hail like pebbles
-  His icy blast that then He melts
-  stirs up His breezes and waters flow

Wow!  He takes care of every detail.  He created each season and each with it's "signature" - Fall with the changing of the colors; Winter with colder temps and snow and ice; Spring with new life; and Summer with thunder storms and warmer temps.  Awesome!

Let's not overlook verse 3, "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds."  He cares for us and is our Great Physician, our Provider, our Protector, and our God!

Monday, November 7th - Psalm 146

Good Morning!

I love the first two verses of this Psalm.  A great way to start the day!  This whole psalm is full of praise and thanksgiving.  God IS our hope and our comfort and our all!  He IS everything!

Verse 9 is a great promise:  "The Lord watches over the alien and sustains the fatherless and the widow."  He cares for us and takes care of us!

I know there are several going through really tough times right now and they don't know how they are going to survive the next few months, but they know that their faith in God, our Provider will get them through and He will provide for their needs.  God is good all the time - all the time God is good!

I thank God for His Word that guides my path and allows me to communicate and know Him more.  "Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, O my soul. I will praise the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live."

Sunday, November 6th - Psalm 145

Good Morning!

I was so excited that it was lighter this morning when I got up!  I know it will get darker as winter arrives, but I will enjoy the earlier sunrise as it lasts!  :o)  Hope you enjoyed your extra hour of sleep, I did.

This Psalm is a psalm of praise and thanksgiving!  Gos provides everything we need and then some!  He listens when we cry out and He comforts in times of stress and hurt.

The word praise, sing and celebrate are used eight times in this passage and the words exalt and extol are used four times.  Verse two says, "Everyday I will praise You and extol Your Name forever."  Daily!  Verse 3 continues and says that God is great and no one can fathom His greatness.  Verse four indicates that every generation will share with the next of God's majesty, His miracles, and His splendor.  Missions!

Look at the descriptions of God:  King, Great, Worthy of praise, Majestic, Gracious, Compassionate, Slow to anger, Rich in Love, Powerful, Good, Righteous, Mighty, Faithful, Provider, Trustworthy, Always Present, Truth, Protector, and Savior. 
Wow!  And these are just a few!  We serve an awesome God. 

Take time to re-read this Psalm and praise Him and thank Him for something personal to you at each verse.  Make it a song of praise to God and sing it to Him.  Praise God for who He is in your life. 

"My mouth will speak in praise of the Lord.  Let every creature praise His Holy Name forever and ever."  verse 21

Saturday, November 5th - Psalm 144

Good Saturday Morning!

Change is inevitable, but God never changes!  He is the same yesterday - today - and forever!  We can rest in that promise and know that He takes care of us - His children!  He is all things to us - Father, Rescuer, Provider, Protector, Savior, Comforter, Confidant and Friend - just to name a few.

Remember that God cares about everything - the small things and the big things.  Lay it all at His feet and He will care for you!  Talk to Him about the changes in your life and decisions, big and small that you need to make.  Include Him in everything!

I hope you all enjoy this beautiful day!  God has really blessed us with a gorgeous day - sunshine and warmer temps!  We also get an extra hour of sleep tonight!  Yeah!!!

Friday, November 4th - Psalm 143

Good Morning!

Happy Friday!  This has been a crazy week, but it is quickly coming to an end.  I am very excited about this weekend as we get an extra hour of sleep!  Yes, don't forget to turn your clocks back tomorrow night before going to bed.  :o)

"Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul." verse 8
I know there are many that are not really morning people and like to have their quiet time with the Lord in the afternoon or evening.  I have always been a morning person and early riser, so it is the best time for me.  The important thing is that you are in the Word of God reading, learning and praying daily.

God will show you the way you should go. He is always ready to spend time with you.  Verse 6 hit me where it said: "I spread my hands to You; my soul thirsts for You like a parched land."  I want to thirst for God and for His Word.
God will walk with us every step of this life! (vs 10)  He loves us and wants a daily relationship, communion with us.
Starting off the day with His Word and some prayer time is great!  You should give it a try if you don't already!  He is waiting.....

Thursday, November 3rd - Psalm 142

Good Evening!

I hope you have had a good day!  Even though it is raining and windy outside, the Son is shining inside!  Are you letting Him shine through you?  I hope so!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 142: We all long for a "safe" place to share our feelings, and we look for good people who will listen.  God is the Ultimate safe place.

Who do you share with when you have had an awesome experience and need to tell someone?  Who do you tell when you are not feeling the best about a situation and just need to "talk it out"?  When something has affected you so deeply, who do you call?
We all have best friends or family members or mentors that we can share these things with and they will laugh with us, cry with us and even question us at times.  How much more do you think God would enjoy sharing these times with you?  As Lisa said, HE is the Ultimate safe place, the Ultimate listener and He knows which way to lead!

I have experienced this a couple times just this week.  I met with a friend and we talked and shared together and then we prayed.  That was the most important time, as we laid our discussion and thoughts and plans at His feet!  It was awesome.  The second time was just last night and my heart was "heavy" and I called my friend and she listened and gave godly advice and I hung up and I prayed!  I shared my thought and my feeling with Him and felt so much better.  I know my friend prayed too and that is what it is to feel safe and to share with others, but share it all with God!

Don't leave God out!  He is waiting and is ready to listen and to share your good and bad - let Him!  Reread Psalm 142, paying special attention to verses 1,2 ,3, and 5.  God is waiting!

Wednesday, November 2nd - Psalm 141

Good Evening,

David had a relationship with God.  He depended on Him for everything and he discussed everything with Him through prayer.  He asked Him to teach him and to hold him accountable. 
Lisa's reference to verse 3 is so important.  Our tongues can praise and destroy.  Go back and read the first chapter of James.  We need to keep a tight rein on our tongues.  We can't just say whatever comes to mind and probably shouldn't even been thinking the words. 

God listens and answers us!  Be sure to have that personal relationship with Him that you stop and listen and know that He is with you and speaking to you through His Word, through other Christians, and through prayer.

"Be still and know that I am God".  Let's listen more than we speak!

Tuesday, November 1st - Psalm 140

We are to take everything to the Lord - the big and the small.  How many times do we say we don't want to bother Him with the small stuff.  It amazes me how many times I give it up to the Lord after discussing where I failed and what I could have done better, and in a little bit come and take it back!

We need to TRUST that He will take care of every little, medium and big thing that we bring into His presence.  He cares about us and He loves us!

"God is good all the time - All the time God is good!"

Monday, October 31st - Psalm 139

Good Morning!

This is one of my very favorite psalms.  It is praise, it is encouragement, it is a pleas and a prayer, it is a psalm of thanksgiving, and a psalm of acknowledgement.

God knows each of us better than anyone else in the world, in the universe.  He made us!  He knows everything about us - our personal habits, our likes and dislikes, our thoughts and even the words we speak before they are uttered.
There is no place to hide that HE is not there!  He protects us!  He watches over us!  He loves us and we love Him.

I love verses 13 through 16.  There have been songs written with these verses, book written and sermons built around these verses.  Verse 14 is a good memory verse: "I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well."

The psalmist goes on to write that God is everything - His thoughts are precious; His presence is always with us and He protects us.
Then in verses 23 and 24 the psalmist pens the prayer that I hope we all pray on a regular basis: "Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting."

Remember the old hymn taken from this passage of Scripture?

Search me, O God, and know my heart today,
Try me, O Savior, know my thoughts I pray;
See if there be some wicked way in me;
Cleanse me from every sin, and set me free.

I praise Thee Lord, for cleansing me from sin;
Fulfill Thy Word and make me pure within;
Fill me with fire, where once I burned with shame;
Grant my desire to magnify Thy name.

Lord, take my life, and make it wholly Thine;
Fill my poor heart with Thy great love divine;
Take all my will, my passion, self and pride;
I now surrender, Lord, in me abide.

O Holy Ghost, revival comes from Thee;
Send a revival, start the work in me;
Thy Word declares Thou wilt supply our need;
For blessings now, O lord, I humbly plead.

Make this your prayer today!  Spend some time in the Word and ask our Heavenly Father to search your heart and your thoughts.  Are there changes that need to be made?  Listen....

Sunday, October 30th - Psalm 138

Good afternoon!
I apologize for being a little later today, but I had to be at the church by 7:15am and two kids to get ready besides myself!  Sorry!
What an awesome worship service!  The music, the message and the fellowship was fantastic!  Loved it!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 138 vs 8: "The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me". What a promise! I know God has big things for me - and HE will fulfill that in me!

I like this Psalm!  I love verse one:  "I will praise you, O Lord, with all my heart;" because that is what I want to do - Praise my Lord and Savior all the time and with all that I am!  God's love and His faithfulness, His name and His Word have been exalted above all things!  HE is the one true God!
Verse 3: "When I called, you answered me; you made me bold and stouthearted."  That is one of my prayers too, that I will be bold and stouthearted for Him.  A dangerous witness!

God watches over His children and He protects us. (vs. 6 and 7)  However, verse 8 is the promise we want to read and have happen in our lives: "The Lord will fulfill his purpose, for me; your love, O Lord, endures forever -- do not abandon the works of your hands."

He WILL fulfill His purpose for me!  Just like Lisa, I know that God has great things for me, but I need to listen and abide by His time table and not my own.  Trying to get ahead of Him is not what I need to do - I will wait on the Lord!

Will you allow the Lord to fulfill His purpose for you?

Saturday, October 29th - Psalm 137

Happy Saturday Morning!

Today is my Mom's 75th birthday and I wish I was down in Missouri to celebrate with her, but because of technology, we will see her and talk to her this evening through Skype.  Yeah!
It is going to be a great day here!  What opportunities will come our way to share and serve and tell others about Jesus?  Be on the lookout!

Lisa's tweet: LMRMinistries: Psalm 137: When things are hard - what else can we do, but stubbornly recall that we are God's?  He doesn't forget.  Joy isn't based on circumstances.

It is so easy to "forget" when things are going wrong or are tough.  Many times that is when we begin to rely on our own strength.  We don't want to "bother" God with the little stuff until it becomes huge and then we "run" to Him and ask for His help.
God is with us all the time and He longs to be a part of every minute of our lives.  HE doesn't forget us at all!  He is there!  He is here!  He will always be!  He loves us!

Remember when Lisa spoke about joy in our hearts and that it isn't the same as "happy"?  Therefore her last statement is so true - "Joy isn't based on circumstances."  We have the joy of the Lord all the time and yet there are times of sadness, times of frustration, times of happiness (more than the others usually), and times of great joy!  It is kind of hard to explain, but the joy in our hearts is the knowledge, the saving grace and the love of Jesus!

Remember the second verse of the first chapter of James that says we should consider it pure joy whenever we face trials of any kind.  God does not and will not forget!  Rejoice and be glad!
